1.
Spray, a brush will take off the decal. Oh, and mask off the back of your tuner holes, or it'll drip all down the back of your neck, like wot mine did....
Dave, thanks very much for all your advice. Had a look at your link as well, lots of good advice there too. Will post pics as I go.
2. Thanks for your replies, I have the neck now and it has a very light coat of lacquer so will need a few more I think. One more question, spray or paint on? (I assume the fretboard needs to be masked off!)
3. I am going to put a new neck on my Fender P. I have ordered a Mighty Mite neck for it and I want to put a decal on it, I think the neck will have a light satin lacquer on it, so can I just apply the decal direct or will I have to sand down the headstock at all? Also once applied I guess It would be best to apply a lacquer over it to help stop it from peeling off, so can anyone recommend a lacquer to use and the best way of doing this? Sorry for all the questions, but I haven't done this before and I want to make as good a job of it as I can.
4. Just thought I would update this post. I have decided to swap the neck out so I have a Mighty Mite neck winging it's way to me as I type I am changing the tuners to Schaller and have bought a Gotoh 203 bridge. Will add a bridge and pickup ashtray because I like that look and might as well get some new strings as well. I like a nice deep bass sound so any recommendations on strings welcome. I will post picks as it progresses for anyone who might be remotely interested!

6. I'm planning on changing the bridge on my Fender P. I looked at the Badass, but frankly they are too expensive and quite difficult to source at the moment, so I have decided on a Gotoh bridge. I'm a little confused however! What is the difference, if any, between the 201 and the 203?

8. Maybe a second hand neck is the way to go then. It's ironic, I have owned three Squier basses and been pleased with them all. I still have a nice CV P bass, but thought I fancied a Fender. Although the tone of the Fender I think is superior, I never had any issues with the other basses. Looks like I might end up with a Fender body and a Squier neck then...ho hum!
9. Hi, I have recently bought a Fender P bass. It sounded lovely which is why I bought it but the action was a little high. I tried to adjust it by fiddling with the bridge and that helped, but still was a bit high so I took it to a guy I know, he makes guitars for a living. He's had a look and reckons the neck is more or less knackered! He's straightened it out as best he can, but it appears the neck is slightly twisted, so one side plays good, but the other is not so good. Also the machine-heads are on the way out also. Quite a story of woe. However I thought I might get a replacement neck and tuners, maybe change the bridge. I didn't spend a fortune on the bass in the first place (£300), so don't want to spend too much doing it up and have seen this website where I could get everything I need for less than £200. Do you think this would be worth doing? http://www.axesrus.com/axecart.htm
10. Just an update my post, I found a key that fits and have adjusted the saddles as best I can. The action is still a little high to be honest, but the strings are as low as I can get them without any fret buzz. Thanks to all who replied.
11. Just bought another bass, a nice Fender, not sure what it is exactly, but I the body (neck is newer) is pretty old, early 60's I think. Anyway the bridge is quite tatty and I'm considering swapping it out for a Badass11. Just can't find one here in the UK. Tried google, tried Bass Centre, they are out of stock. There seems to be shortage of them. Can anyone suggest where I might be able to get hold of one, preferably on-line. Many thanks
12.
Should be a standard 1/16 for a BBOT i think. I think some bridges require different sizes though. I just buy the massive sets, cheap enough and you've got everything covered.
Just bought a set of allen keys from Amazon, both metric and imperial, so hopefully one of those will fit. If not I'm considering fitting a Badass 11 bridge anyway.
13. I have just acquired a nice sounding Fender P, but the action is a little too high for me. I'm fairly new to bass and so need all the help I can get. I understand that I need to adjust the bolts on the bridge to lower the strings, but I'm blowed if I have an allen key that fits! Most are too big and I have one that is too small, so the problem is, what looks like a fairly straightforward job now becomes a little more complicated and frustrating. So, do you know if I can purchase a key to fit, does anyone have a spare? Help!
14.
apparently k +6 digits is japan '90 '91 and body serial 6 digits beginning 25 is mid 60's!
Yeah, that's what I thought with neck, just not sure about the body. The asking price is £330. Worth it?
15. I have been offered a black Fender Precision. It's a bitsa I think with the neck being made in Japan and a serial number K037444. The body I'm not sure about. It is a bit battered and has a serial number, I think 258837. It sounds lovely though the action is a little high. Anyone got any ideas what this is and what it might be worth?

17. Didn't know Bob Dylan played bass.
18. Ok, just one thing to make clear, I'm not a label snob, not fussed that my bass is a Squier, but interested to know if the HW1 had a Squier label, would it be better than my CV? Would I be trading up or just going sideways?
19. I currently play a Squier CV 60's P. I like this bass. I have not had much experience of playing other basses but have lately gassed for a Fender, for no other reason than it's a Fender! I like the look of the HW1 and it's within a reasonable budget for me. I know you will say I should get out and play one to make up my own mind and I will do that, but I am interested to have your opinions. Is the HW1 a good upgrade, or should I stick with what I have?
20. I'm happy with my gear, but I am hankering after a Fender P. Maybe a honey blond Highway One.
21. Not battling to a gig, but to work! I'm on the graveyard shift tonight, until 6am tomorrow. Will then have to battle my way home again no doubt.
22. I have a bass big muff fuzz thingy which I never use. Bought it when I first took up playing bass because I thought that was the thing to do. I know better now, but I hang on to it because you never know!
23.
When they dropped the L from the name and got rid of Noddy, then started doing lounge jazz I really lost respect for them I'm afraid...
Lol. that took me a second or two to work out!! I like Sade, I like her music, limited or not and she looks good too. What's not to like?
24. Just bought one of these and I have to say I am a bit disappointed. It does what it's supposed to I guess, that is, amplify your guitar without actually using an amp, but the build quality is pants and mine hisses quite a lot. I will use it for practise where I can't use an amp, I was thinking of buying an acoustic bass for practise, so I suppose it's potentially saved me some money, but I think there must be a better piece of kit out there than this.
25. Four for me, not sure I would know what to do do with five, let alone six!
