1.
How twisted? A luthier can tell you if it is repairable. They have all sorts of tricks for fixing this sort of thing. Get it straightened then you can sell it.
I've had a quote from two luthiers and they reckon it would cost me between £175/£200 to have it defretted and levelled. I doubt it would be worth it?
2. I have a Fender Precision neck that I have replaced with a new neck because it is slightly twisted! The serial number suggests it was made in Japan 1990/1991. Overall the neck is in good condition, though the tuners are not original. What to do with it? It would be a shame to just throw it away, would it be worth anything?
3.
MB1. Postman knocks on door this morning,i hear it get up,get to the door as hes driving off.The guy must have waited all of 30 seconds for me to answer the door? well the time it takes to fill the card in anyway!.Apparently i now have to wait two working days to go and collect it myself from the sorting office. I then look at the card and its not for me!
LOL Sorry for laughing, but I've been there and it's really irritating!
4.
I'd have gone with black pup covers, but that pink looks rather nice.
+1 for the black pup covers. Love that pink.
5. I have a Fender and the neck says Made In Japan, but I'm not sure it's the original neck. Is there any way to tell where the body was made?
6.
Bassic cables from forumite OBBM. I dont know why anyone would buy anything else. http://www.bassic-bits.co.uk/
+1 Don't use anything else.
7. I'm going to put my Squier CV Precision on the market soon and if I should sell it I will probably have to post it. I don't have a box to put it in so can anyone suggest where I might obtain one? Many thanks

9. Ashdown Mag-C210-T-300 - Mag EVO II. Only been used as my practice amp and so never been gigged and in perfect condition. Looking for £180 o.n.o. Pick up only as they are a bit heavy to post, though I would be happy to meet you within a reasonable distance from Devizes, Wilts. Listed on the Bay now. 10.
Nice job it looks good. What's the next project then?
Thanks Gary, no more projects on the horizon. Just play and enjoy my bass for now.
11. Well, I have put my bass back together now. Had to rout out the neck pocket to get the neck to fit. Have added some Schaller tuners and string tree, some Ernie Ball flatwounds and finally a bridge and pick up ash tray. Didn't touch the pick ups or electrics and I'm really pleased with the way it feels and sounds. This bass has cost me in the region of £700 and I could have bought a nice new Fender for that I suppose, but I have put my mark on this and it's a keeper.
12.
MM necks are supposed to be compatible with Fender bodies - if it's not a Fender body then I would enlarge the pocket & leave the neck as is. If it is a Fender body? Up to you, which has more resale value, a standard MM neck or the body?
I bought this bass as a genuine Fender, but now I have my doubts! How can I tell if the body is in fact a genuine Fender?
13. Bought a new Mighty Mite neck for my Fender P project. It's a lovely neck, but it's slightly too wide to fit into the neck pocket, so what's the best way to get it to fit? Sand the neck, chisel out the pocket? Is it a job I could tackle, with no experience, or should I get a luthier to do the work. What do you reckon?
14.
Thanks for the tips and pm, most helpful. I was planning to deal with the same company for the lacquer. Did you use the sealer/primer coat that they advise prior to the proper coatings. If I do the job the way they recommend, it means purchasing three different cans of lacquer products.
No I didn't seal it as there was a light lacquer already applied. Just used the tinted lacquer and the satin clear lacquer to finish.
15.
Nice job, I'm about to do the same to a Squier neck, tinting and decal that is. Who did you use for the decal and lacquer?
The lacquer came from these guys http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT you have a pm about the decal. Apologies if this sounds like I'm trying to teach a hen how to suck eggs, but based on my own mistakes here I have three pieces of advice. First make sure your neck fits the pocket before you start to tint, second do the tint slowly, don't try to apply too much at once or it will run and thirdly when you cut the decal down to size get it as close as you can to the print because when you slide it off the backing paper the margin you left around the printed area will be how big your decal will be and it's not so easy to trim it once it's off the backing paper, if that makes sense
16. New Gotoh 203 bridge fitted.
17. Decal added. Just need to put some clear lacquer over to seal it.
18. Some pics of the neck and headstock after tinting.
19. +1 for Mighty Mite. Just had a precision neck delivered and it's very nice. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Mighty-Mite-MM...056-i1519588.gc
20. Well, one learns from one's mistakes as they say. Took the neck off today only to find that my Mighty Mite neck doesn't quite fit, so it will need a bit of sanding down to get a good tight fit into the pocket. Only problem is that I have already given the neck and headstock a good spray with a nice brown lacquer which I will have to sand off again now....DOH! Well I won't touch the headstock as I have also just applied a nice decal. As an aside, as I thought, the neck plate isn't original as there is a date stamped in the neck pocket May 19 1990. Also another number, looks like 410, not sure what that is! The neck plate serial number 258837, I think, suggests something in the early 60's.
21.
what you doing with the old neck
Not sure yet, but I'm going to hang on to it for now.
22. I have a nice Mighty Mite neck that I am going to tint for a darker, more "vintage" look and apply a decal.
23. Not really 100% sure this qualifies as a rebuild, but I have a Fender P bass, not sure of the date yet because I suspect the serial number on the neck plate is not an accurate guide as I don't think it's original. The neck is twisted, so I intend to replace the neck, bridge, tuners and strings. Firstly this is my bass as it is at the time of typing.
24. Ok ok, one last question. Once I have lacquered the headstock, I'm going to use a light brown tint, and applied the decal, will I have to use a clear lacquer to seal it, or do you think I could just give the whole lot another quick mist with the tinted stuff? At £10 a tin I don't really want to splash out for a clear lacquer if I'm not going to use much.
