  1. Hang on... Looks like the two posts above have just made my decision.
  2. Blimey, thanks all.😊 I didn't expect that, not against some proper songs.... it's like the Vienna/Shadappayaface debacle all over again. Still, I found it useful to try and write in that style, and I reckon I picked up a few things from it. I'll bang through my pics and have something submitted shortly.
  3. ... Or how you decided not to use compression
  4. Go home Configurator.... you're drunk! (They'd look ace with fan frets though!)
  5. I could be wrong here.... way wrong, but I've always associated evenness with flatter fretboards, with the strings arching less, no one string is particularly closer to the pickup poles than the others.
  6. I would have said that both my Jake and my Elwood L have pretty much the same response from string to string. When the Jake first showed up I was astonished at how aggressive it was in terms of tone, bearing in mind it's passive too. In terms of punch it blows the Elwood L (active, with Haussels) out of the water. The Elwood is much more refined though, both in sound and playability.
  7. Oddly enough, I felt that way when I first received my Jake 5+.... Kinda gritty action, compared to the ultralites on my Elwood L5. Four years later though, and they're still on, because they never let me down, I tune, and they keep it there.
  8. I'm all about the sophistication! 🤣
  9. Here is my contribution to the August 2020 Basschat Composition Challenge, inspired by a picture chosen by the previous winner, Xgsjx. The picture suggests culture, sophistication, romance and Tango. Exotic strangers in ultra-cool bars, accordions and garlic... yada, yada, yada. Puis Je presenter - Last Tango In Barnsley. All recorded in Cubase Elephants, with my Jake 5+, a Westbury Standard, Helix LT and gratuitous overuse of an EBow in lieu of not having an Accordion. Thanks to the Mrs and Roland for adding drums
  10. ... And if it's got no bagpipes!
  11. Alan bought my Lumix LX100. Couldn't have been a smoother, friendlier deal. A top chap to deal with!
  12. I do this, demo everything (except drums) and pass it on... I put a lot of thought into everything, writing and rewriting, so if someone can't take it further on their own instrument that's their deficiency, not mine. Anyone else is totally welcome to do the same and I welcome the challenge of upping the ante on something that's already well done.... They never do of course. 🙄 You don't seem to have a songwriting issue, you seem to have a singer issue.
  13. Anyone got any Tango tips... Apart from 'don't... ever!'? 🤣
  14. What is this "melody" of which you speak?🤔
  15. Jesus tapdancing Christ!🤔😭🤔
  16. Congratulations... Well deserved! I loved the way it progressed. Really pleased with the variation the pic pulled out, from classic 80s to Britpop, via Kraftstein... Or was it Rammswerk? Nice one!😎
  17. Liane Carroll - Often accompanied by her Husband Roger Carey, whose playing I really like. They did a livestream from Ronnie's last week, and it was a lovely hour!
  18. One set for me please.... currently looking for novel uses!😊
