8. I originally bought this and realised I don't need so many pedals and thusly, this has become surplus to my requirements. It originally came with a couple of scuffs as shown in the pictures. Though I'm not the best when it comes to shipping (but can be sorted), it's up for £59 and to be picked up from Littlehampton, West Sussex. Any questions? Please feel free to ask. 9. I know I should always keep a spare but I usually just take my Musicman and be done with it. I should really get a spare... I always take spares of cables and all of that. I'm quite lucky that my amp head (Genz Benz Shuttle 12.0) has two separate channels so that if one fails, I can just switch to the other for the rest of the gig without too much hassle.
10.
I've been using a Palmer Deepressor for a while now and despite being quite an affordable and simple pedal I'm really liking it. The pad button helps to tame the overly hot pre-amp on my Sterling Sub Ray for a start. Probably not the most fashionable compressor but it evens things out nicely without squashing too much and adds a lovely punch. I've also found it to be surprisingly quiet.
I've been eyeing one of these up! How does it match up to other compressors?
11. I've stumbled upon some exceptional deals very recently and although I couldn't afford any of them, I thought to myself about the possibility of passing my good luck to someone else who can afford whatever it is. Mods, Admins and the other powers that may be, feel free to take the thread down if it violates any rules but I would like to present the possibility of a thread that if someone spots a 'ridiculous' bargain from overseas, it can be submitted here. I don't want to impede upon any potential sellers here, naturally. Rules of this thread? If it's a bargain overseas from something like Lionseek, TalkBass, Facebook groups or even eBay, post a picture of it and stating the details of how to get to it. If you can't afford it? Pass the opportunity to someone else, y'never know. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ What have I seen recently? Someone posted this in a Facebook group in the US. I hope someone gets a bargain out of it. 12. Thanks for your help, guys. I'm picking her up in the morning!
13.
I reckon you need a spare bass and a riot shield. Standard equipment for the gigging bass man.
Or in the case of my Musicman Bongo, they're synonymous
14. A weird, weird and somewhat interesting gig. Played with an originals band that I play with regularly and everyone fell apart. I had to hold it all together and it was really quite a chore. Stressful setting up, the singer kept forgetting her parts (even though she has written the songs and has been playing them for years), pianist couldn't be heard, guitarist was ill, saxophonist got dropped in one tunes that he didn't know of, drummer kept dropping tempo, you name it, it all went mad. The venue was rather nice, though! Darned shame because I've played some of my best gigs with those guys and gals. Bonus points for my Genz head looking like a beast ready to feast upon it's next victim. 15. A friend of mine is selling a relatively unknown double bass for £250. Apparently, it was made in Madrid in the '60s and not much else is known about it. Anyone else have any ideas about it? Cheers, folks!
16. https://www.gumtree.com/p/paintings-pictures/upright-bass-painting-by-yves-henry/1199819186 If a picture says a thousand words, what ones would you use to describe this?
17.
Dunno but I like the music.
Thank you, bubinga5! Seems like it's competition between an upright and either a Yamaha or a P-bass with flats. Stick some flats on these, maybe?
18.

Thank you! I tried to copy/paste and reverse engineer the link in. All hail Dad!
19. I play in a couple of originals bands and I use a Musicman Bongo 5HH for essentially everything. I've come into some money and feel like it'd be a great idea to add something to go with the Bongo. For me, the Bongo does everything I need in a pop setting and facilitates the type of sound I like and then some but I wouldn't mind branching out into playing a lot more Latin or Jazz, for example. Let's say you were in my position, you could add a second bass to the Musicman, what would you add? Can be anything below £1,200 or so. I fancy something different but complimentary. Maybe I'm just horrendously indecisive! Fretless? Double bass? Another 5 string fretted electric (as a potential backup)? Grab some headphones for this; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n674L2wx5A Thanks.
20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n674L2wx5A Work in progress with a new band. Some rehearsal footage from a while back! What do you guys reckon? Any constructive criticism would be most welcomed.
21. Ask them if they still want it and tell them you've got others waiting as well. At least, if they're strugglign to afford it, there's an opt-out option and you'll be able to shift said bass quick enough. It's a win-win situation for all parties involved.
