1.
Someone is selling one on Facebook at the minute. Bass Players Market. He's asking £1400
Seen it. If it were a 5SSS, I'd have gone to t'brum from Sussex right away. 4SSS and a bit steep.
2. I'm sitting here on payday to annihilate approximately 96% of my paycheque on a bass. Costs until the next payday are covered but it's so tempting to plunge into it. Anyone else done this before?
3.
An old topic, but a good one to revisit. First and foremost, it's probably not a good idea to join a band if you haven't defined or even know what you're looking for in a band. You probably have a life outside of music and playing bass. What can you realistically commit to? Make sure you ask questions. Here are a few of my favorites. 1. How long has the band been together 2. Tell me about turnover, how long has your current line up been in tact. 3. How many gigs did the band play last year. 4. How much travel is involved. 5. Do you book through an agency or book yourselves 6. Does the band own commercial grade lights and sound 7. Why did the last bass player leave 8. How is the band paid, equal split or is there a heirachy system Those are 8 pretty basic questions, there are more. What questions do you ask? Blue
If only I saw this a couple of months ago...
4. After trying Cetera's Yamaha BB3000, I pretty much fell in love with the tone and feel of it. Although most know me as a Musicman zealot, I found this bass to be truly gorgeous. Anyone else owned one of these? How much should I expect to find one for about? I'd love to get one, string it up with some flats (the Sadowsky ones I tried were truly gorgeous, of which I must thank OBBM for letting me try) and have fun with it.
5. Loved it. Are you guys playing anywhere further west at all?
6. Considering I played this earlier, this is horrifically tempting. +1 for a super nice guy!
7.
Couldn't we do it every six months?
I was joking with WalMan on the way back about the idea of a nationwide one being spread over two days. So many bassists...
8. Best day I've had in a long time. I'm eagerly awaiting the next one!
9. This is going to be awesome. I hate to sound like a bit of an idiot but it seems I've misplaced my kettle lead for the Genz. Could I possibly borrow one for today at all, please?
10. It's so quirky and yet so brilliant. I don't mind having a bit fo a strange bass considering my 5HH Bongo in a creamy, white colour was dubbed 'the world's greatest sounding toilet seat'. Also, if anyone knows of a 5SSS going available, please send 'em my way.
11. What a beaut. Who here has tried one of these? I want to track one of these down (a 5SSS, yes please) to go with my Bongo 5HH.

13. Phwoar. If only that was a 5 string, I'd be all over it!
14. My apologies to anyone whose PMs I didn't reply to. I got snowed under with work and figured everyone lost interest. I'm now looking to do a part exchange for larger cabinet. I'm looking for a high end 2x12/2x15 by either TKS, Barefaced or similar.

16. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJxR-qeAUpo Anyone?
17. I used to play for 2 or 3 hours straight on a daily basis a long time ago but now I'm at a stage that I can't play for more than 15 minutes without feeling utterly drained. I took a big break as soon as I started working 60 hours a week but even on my days off, I feel tired whilst playing. Said aforementioned break must have been 6 months or so. Strangely enough, it's the complete opposite when I'm up on the stage. Any ideas?
18. With that in mind? I'd keep the Rob Allen, personally. A bit different from the rest, y'never know!
19. Let's take into consideration the other aspects of this, shall we? - What kind of stuff do you like and play? - What else do you have in the arsenal?
20. I was playing a festival up t'north a while ago and the bassist from one of the other bands had a beautiful upright. It was a Japanese one and I simply loved the quality of it. I've always had a fixation for Japanese made musical instruments. Does anyone have first hand experience with the MIJ DB stuff at all?
21. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Un3p614XExc Best lecture I've seen for stage fright and anything related. Take this gig you've got coming and learn from it if anything goes wrong. Use it as a reference point.
22.
Make a snake/loom with the other cables you'd need.
Never heard of that one! Thanks.
23. I've just started to build up a nice little pedalboard. I'm a fairly meat'n'potatoes kind of player. I play all kinds of music but I like to keep it in the groove. Any recommendations on what to pop on the board? Diago makes a lovely pedalboard (£50 jobbie from GumTree) I'm not amazingly fond of the idea of using the really long on my Genz Benz's footswitch, however. Any ideas on being able to make it a simple wireless thing at all? Thanks.
