1.
Many private sellers are now sellers my via Facebook groups or even sites likes this, avoiding EBay and possibly Paypal fees.
This. I tend to find some groups work best for different price brackets. For example, I went to a high end American one to sell a Warwick Streamer (1991 NT1 fretless) and it sold within a week with 3 people hunting it down. That particular group is a gold mine for making sales of that seismic proportion (Foderas, Sadowsky etc..) whereas some of the smaller national ones are decent for shifting lower end gear (pedals, economic basses and amp heads etc...). Of course, you're welcome to hit me up with a message and I'll show you where it all is. GumTree, in my experience, is the best for all round bargains, nationally speaking. Not to inspire economic ill-will or malice but if the dollar to pound sterling ratio can go back to pre-Obama 2007 rates, that'd be awesome. If only I had a time travel machine!
 2. Brilliant description. That's worth it alone.
 3.
he has a go in fairness, but its kinda a thing that i should be doing with him, so i try to help him along. as for retracing my steps i have pretty much learned all that intrests me that is within my technical abilities. and BURNOUT oh my god please not , i didnt even realise such a thing existed ! if i have got it i am trying to think who i caught it off , is there some kind of medication i can take to get rid of it ? lol
If such medication was available, I'm pretty sure half of us would have overdosed on it by now. Maybe it might be best for you to have a break from it all and then come back to it? Inevitably, we pursue our creative pleasures as a means of supplementing our lives, perhaps there's something else that takes your fancy for the time being?
 4.
hi all. ever have those times where you just cant be arsed to play ? and when you do it sounds ...well , crap. I try to practice as much as possible but over the last few days it seems that im sick of learning and unwilling to go over the stuff i have learned and just not finding the fun in it , but still having to sit with my lad and go through stuff he wants to know with him. is this something you folks go through occasionally and if so how do you get through it ? is this just a musical version of writers block (for want of a better description).
Maybe retrace your steps and find what inspires you? Sure you're not burned out? In regards to your lad, how old is he? Maybe he might be able to find the material and learn to teach himself some stuff as a challenge if he's of the right age?

 6. Let's play a game! The rules are simple. Post a bass that you consider a 'guilty pleasure' and the person below in response gives their opinion on it. What can go wrong, really? I've got a real hankering for a Yamaha BB3000MA I've just seen on eBay and I'm sure some would turn their nose up at the funky looking aesthetics on it. What's on your GAS list that's considered a 'guilty pleasure'? 7. Having a listen to it, I'd recommend a LOT of practice to get this tight and synchronised with each other. Tonally: - Relatively clean bass to keep the fundamentally lows. Plectrum recommended. - Ask one or both of the guitarists to play with their tone controls on their guitars. - It may be a case of 'less is more'. Have an experiment on it all and it all depends how zealously close you'll want to get to the original. Hope it helps!
 8. Having a crack at some Sabrotone stuff. I love the idea of doing a clone of a pedal to then give it a funky looking housing. Here goes!
 9.
This +++++1
I've done this on virtually almost every gig I've played on. I usually like a warm and thumpy sound. No wonder I can't hear jack on the front! Thank you so much for all of your advice, everyone. I've saved it all into a word document that I'll print off and take to my next gig to experiment and play around with. You guys and gals are the gifts that keep on giving.
 10. I completely underestimated how far the event is and I'm scheduled in for another nightshift (despite the fact I asked for that night off). Have fun, everyone!
 11. I'm thinking of moving somewhere completely different in England when I finish university. Somewhere with a great music scene that isn't London would be best! What can you fine lot recommend? How is your area for live music?
 12.
I've got one of these kicking around that you'd be welcome to if it would be any good to you and you cover the postage. PM me if you want it .
PM sent.
 13. Hello! I bought this as part of a bass project that never happened. £115ONO and any questions, feel free to ask. 14. Hello! I got this for a project build that never transpired. £115ONO. Any questions, feel free to ask. 15. I play mostly power pop originals stuff and I'm slowly building up a pedalboard. So far, I've acquired the following: - Pedaltrain Novo 18 (pedalboard) - Morley Little Alligator (volume pedal) - Hardwire HT-2 (chromatic tuner) - Genz Benz Shuttle footswitch (appropriate footswitch to go with my amp head - Genz Benz Shuttle 12.0). Just need a power supply and I'm thinking of adding a compressor pedal of some sorts to it. It's been a rather expensive afternoon so far! If only there was a wireless function for the footswitch but it seems it runs on the phantom power generated by the amp head itself. Can anyone recommend a relatively affordable power supply for all of this, please?
 16.
Back in the early days, 2005 & 2006 I think, we had two national Bass Bashes at a hotel just off the M1 near Northampton.
How was it?
 17.
"but Ive obviously not tried much! "
There's your answer. Head for somewhere like BassDirect, take your bass head with you and see what resonates best with you. I've owned a Barefaced and well... I support the idea but one should try a variety of different cabinets that suit their tastes first.
 18. Just as a thought. Has anything like this been done before? Any BC anniversaries coming up?
 19.
I find getting an on-stage sound that is just a tad more middy/trebly than I like to hear translates out front as a good defined sound. get a warm rich sound on stage and out front = mush.
Strangely enough, that's a fantastic suggestion. I'm surprised I've not thought of this before. I'm guessing an extra long jack cable/wireless system and exploring the place might help out a lot more when soundchecking?
Isolation risers such as gramma pads or drum riser foam are advertised as being able to reduce boom (I bought a length of drum riser foam & chopped it in 1/2), but sitting the cab on a beer crate or a couple of bricks usually has the same effect. Like Lozz says, the best way to get rid of boom is to turn the lows down a bit.
https://www.studiospares.com/Headphones-and-Speakers/Speaker-Spares-and-Accessories/Studiospares-Speaker-Isolation-Riser_465310.htm This took my fancy. Forget the Gramma pads, those are silly expensive!
 20. I'm eyeing up an isolation riser for whatever bass cabinet I'm going to buy. It's an initiative to improve my live bass tone but I'm also thinking on how else I can improve it all? Manipulating the natural acoustics of a room? Shaping the tone to mesh around the kick drum? What do you fine creatures do to ensure a great bass tone live? I'd love to hear your suggestions and try them out.
 21. I went from Ashdown to... GENZ BENZ. They're definitely worth an outside bet.
 22. Musicman Bongo 5HH. Yeah, for everything.
 23. +1 for Nik's involvement here. He pulled off an awesome bass bash in my neck of the woods (the first one I attended, oddly enough) and they're a real treat for me.
