  1. It’s clear that the legal route is not going anywhere. How many of you would be willing to make a claim in civil court? For small amounts it’s not too expensive: https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-for-money He has never scammed me but individuals like Mr Mason should not get away with this for years on end. If this is occurring on a national level apply for the civil court to order Mr Mason to appear in person to state his financial situation. He may find himself travelling to and fro quite a bit based on the number of cases reported here.
  2. I agree with this. My favourite bass is a Nate Mendel signature P. I just find the neck really comfortable. The rest of the details that make it a signature model wouldn’t draw me in. I don’t really like the colour, the roadworn chips, the Nate scrawl on the back of the headstock but that neck is perfect for me and it’s my go to bass.
  3. As others have reported I’ve used their machine heads and bbot bridges. They do what they are supposed to do for not too much money. Haven’t really got anything to add.
  4. mmmm no. there somewhere in the loft and best left there. late 80’s simon gallop followed by silly nephilim style hat once hair too to back comb kind of sums things up though.
  5. I have some very amusing photos of myself but will keep them far from the light of day. Never really called myself a goth despite liking the music and seeing Fields of the Nephilim, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Mission and The Cure numerous times in the late 80’s. I was always a bit eclectic in my music tastes and was simultaneously into punk, psychobilly, blues and folk.
  6. never understand - the jesus and mary chain
  7. Beautiful Japan made Washburn bought from new in 1983 and not giggled since that time.
  8. Partly this issue has arisen due to supply chain problems as well as some retailers being pretty poor with communication, particularly with their online sales. The last bass I bought (private sale) was only £100 cheaper than the new (shop) price. The main difference is I could collect it in a couple of days at my convenience whereas the shop had already messed me about for several weeks with no updates.
  9. la fille de la mort - the young gods
  10. heaven knows i’m miserable now - smurfs
  11. first we take manhattan - leonard cohen
  12. If it brings you pleasure then don’t worry what people think. As you say playing an instrument is a pretty cheap hobby. If you play that thing for 70 hours then get bored let’s face it in this day and age how much is there available to do in terms of leisure activities for £10 an hour? Pub, cinema, coffees out? Even if you gave it away it’s better than frittering your cash away on the above.
  13. Problem is without the context we are all just guessing. We don’t know what type of music they play, what their personalities are or their political etc etc. I’m sure this could be researched in advance in the same way as say going to an interview for a hipster soho media company or a city of london bank, they will be looking for different individuals to slot into the existing team and culture. At college I went to join a band and after 15 minutes it was clear they were all massive football fans and wanted to be a Madchester clone band. No thanks. Similarly in later life I had an interview for a major US Accountancy firm in the city. All flash, swaggering big fancy watch squash playing types. I would have been a poor fit regardless of ability.
  14. Really depends on the band. Jaco would have destroyed The Cure and Dempsey or Gallop would have been useless in Weather Report. Possibly best outcome for all parties. Band may have required a really minimal player or been more interested in the aesthetic/image. Can only really guess without asking why.
