I wonder if, should I have the opportunity to get one, they'll feel familiar and like home again? I will do my best to at least get my hands on them for a full-on in-depth review. The Classic V looks fantastic!

Hmm, Unless it's a period correct model, let's shave those heel blocks down on bolt-on basses, get rid of neck plates and countersink fixing bolts. Hide pickup tangs! - Especially on Split-Coil P pickups. Well done EMG (and Dimarzio) for managing this! Small comforts and all! A wider range of pickup cover types. Radiused pickup covers. Oh headstocks... either flat out do the copy you're trying to pretend your not, or come up with something original that doesn't look like a 4 year old drew it. Rounded/Rolled fingerboard edges as standard. 22 frets on more models please. Well done Sandberg. The afore mentioned Luminlay or decent contrasting markers.

Looks like they've managed it with Blu DeTiger's signature Jazz, choosing to go with a chambered body at ~7lbs 14oz according to the interwebs. I'd go the Shuker route of using a dense centre block, such as Northern Ash and then using chambered lightweight wings, but that's not gonna wash sub £1000 - That said, Cort's Modern-4 was insanely light.

I wonder if there's any relation there (I've not looked in to them with any great depth other than my YT feed being full of reviews featuring the new 20W head). I wonder, now that bassists seem a little more open to the likes of modelling, FRFR, using "PA cabs" for backline and effect processors in general, if having 'hardware options' like the Randall / Synergy modules could work for bassists. MarkBass' modular MoMark system seemed like a great idea at the time, but I dont feel that it caught on that well. Maybe MB were "ahead of their time".. Or, maybe bassists in general are more likely to settle on a core tone for their backline and such a system wouldn't sell so much?

Only yesterday I was making patches on my Quad Cortex with the 5150/6505 models and captures. I don't think Peavey's James Brown and EVH realised what sort of beast they were unleashing! Absolutely killer heads. One day I'm gonna have one of those and the Laney GH100L in my collection! Incredible amplifers!

I have a pair of the Indonesian made (the good models) Peavey Cirrus 5 strings. What's not to love? 35" scale, slim and fast neck through, through body or top mount stringing, mono rail bridge pieces, VFL active pickups, active pre, well balanced, and a low B that defies its price point considerably. Actually, I don't know if I've just got lucky, but pop a set of Pro Steels on one of these basses and the low B is as impressive as basses I have reviewed that are considerably more expensive. I don't need both now as the project I planned to use them with isn't happening, but I am absolutely keeping one of them. I think the Cirrus basses were probably Peavey's best basses and a shame that they stopped making them - but, Peavey did announce at last year's NAMM that they were starting to make the premium USA models again.

If it’s a fixing to a smooth (say poly finish) painted guitar, then you could use Microsuction tape. It won’t damage the guitar finish and should hold still. I’ve never tried it with a ramp, but a wireless brand supplied a piece to a fix the transmitter to guitar bodies. edit: I think it is also called nano tape, but don’t quote me on that, lol.

It’s be impossible to tell without looking at the amplifier. A bit like asking why a car won’t start. However, unlike cars, the schematic diagrams for the SVT 2 Pro are readily available and, any electronics engineer worth their salt would be able to fault find the boards, irrespective of it being a valve amplifier. I haven’t worked in fault diagnosis for many years, but I can see that the “fault condition” circuitry (if that isn’t at fault itself) checks for expected voltage levels in multiple areas of the schematic, so, I’d start by tracing those against expected voltages. (Taking the necessary safety steps as not to cause more damage to the amplifier). Ergo, take it to a tech. Contact Yamaha to find out where the nearest service centre is.. I have a sneaking suspicion it’s not in the UK if any official centre for the SVT..

I seem to recall (not that my memory is that great these days lol) that I’d seen pics of James with the LEDs on.. (He’s in the same county as me), but judging by the ad, the bass is sold now.

If social media platforms weren’t necessary for my work, or I didn’t need them to stay in contact with friends, family and work contacts, I’d probably have ditched the worst offenders, if not all by now. I appreciate they need to make their money through advertising, but I’d love the option to choose to see only what I follow or subscribe to. Everything else is an endless cesspit of where good content goes to drown. Fake news and propaganda, endless spam videos, stolen content recycled, AI posts that haven’t been checked and click bait that makes my brain itch. But, you only get to see that once you have sifted through vacuous wannabes, the look-at-me and the desperate for validation.
