1. Haha, it's a small world. Someone recognised me/hunted me down over on facebook and Scott's bass lessons and told me that thread was still going 13 years later!! crazy..
2. I've got a little beatbuddy mini for practicing, it's a great little bit of kit but I now wish I'd got the upgraded version that you can download stuff onto
3. Around the world - Red Hot Chilli Peppers
4. I've always said that I love anything from Mariah Carey to Morbid Angel andeverything in between.
5. I'm currently obsessed with the Drop down tuning DRs. They sound great on my Dean 5 string which I keep 1/2 step down. I barely have to adjust the tuning at all and the intonation is spot on.
6. I've got a SR505 5 string which I LOVE and plays wonderfully, plus an electric which was a birthday present and I wanted because it was just beautiful. I don't even play guitar very well Ignore the top two, they're a Dean and Jackson!
7. Everybody (Backstreet's back) - Backstreet boys. I'm sorry.
8. Woah... how is this random thread that I started when I was bored one day NEARLY 13 YEARS AGO still going?? Holy crap the internet is weird... 🤣🤣 I see that when I posted this I was listening to Skindred. That brings back memories. Currently I'm listening to a lot of Tremonti. I've always been a HUGE fan of Alter Bridge and love Tremonti's guitar work. Bass wise I'm learning a load of 70s/80s classic rock covers for some gigs coming up. Lots of ZZtop, Joan Jett, AC/DC, Iron Maiden... lots of fun
9. I don't know where the hell Doveridge is but count me in.
10.
Ahem...who started the thread?
I have to say pete.. those are some fantastic knockers you've got there.
11.
Panic attacks and anxiety disorder suck. I've been there.
Crap innit? Instead of suggesting CBT or anything vaguely theraputic they stuck me straight on anti anxiety anti depressants. Ah well. C'est la vie innit. It's all stress related with me which doesn't help as I have a super stressful job!
12. Hello! bottomendian grassed you all up asking about me... Thought I'd quickly check in and say hi, my bassiness is kind of on hold at the min after both my band and lessons went balls up for totally random reasons. I'm not fulltime at work in a really stressful job, and currently battling generalised anxiety disorder and bad panic attacks. Other than that life's peachy I keep meaning to come back and say hi but I've been feeling sh*te recently so haven't been doing much of anything other than work! I will be back soon when I'm feeling more 'me'...
13. I bet those old Barefaced cabs have been round the block a bit!
14. I love John Mayer... Slow dancing in a burning room always gives me chills..
15. Awww I'm jealous. I'd love to go but can't afford to get up to edinburgh
16. Is there much point caring about a heavy metal bass tone? In most cases we're drowned out by the 'wall of death'... sorry.. 'noise' produced by 2 guitarists fretw**king all over the place and blasting people's eardrums. lol PS: I'm joking +1 on the heavier gauge strings, getting a 5er and pedals tho. Might want to look at getting a 1x15 somewhere in your setup too to drive the bottom end and compete with the downtuned guitars.
17.
Well-done, I admire your dedication! What was the most useful part of the exam/syllabus?
I think the performance section, learning how to improvise to chord charts!
18.
"Don't shag the bride"
another 'fixed' suggestion
19.
Hi Sarah, Nice one on the result there. Can I ask how went about learning theory please? I'm interested but don't know where to start! Cheers, Jon
I've been taking lessons, and decided to do my exams so got the books and did it in combination with my lessons
20. You wouldn't think I'd only started learning theory 7 months ago
21.
You had me beat at Grade one
I only started doing them because I wanted to learn the theory and further my playing, plus doing the exams is motivation to practice and recognition for your hard work. Apparently you get UCAS points for grade 6-8 too! Well worth it Going to be doing my grade 6 this time next year, or that's the plan anyway!
