3. Anything involving slap and pop... I'm hopeless at it!
4. I say move on. After 7 months you'll have a good idea how things are going. You could be putting your time and energy into something you love to play..
5. Hmmmmm...... not sure about that. Looks a decent idea but also looked flawed.
6. Being in a band and being really eager to gig.... but with other band members who have the 'we're not ready, haven't got enough songs, don't want to play covers, don't want to play x song yet.. yaddayaddayadda' mentality.
7. I was seriously impressed when 'Carrie and Davids Popshop' on cbeebies featured David showing kids how to play a bass and create a bassline... full respect!
8. Covers wise I play what I like... if they're my own basslines I don't like to write simple lines unless the song will benefit.
9.
sorry i'm not a girl but it made me laugh that there have been 12 posts (make that 13 now) and 198 views, what are people expecting to see in here?
I think we ALL know the answer to that! lol
10.
Laney RB6? I've got one... they do the bizz, but it's heavy...
RBW300 and you're right.. it's heavy as hell! Lol! Got great sound and power for a 165w though.
11.
hello! oooh can we talk about shoes and boys and handbags now? welcome sarah. i grew up in stafford! x
Oooh really? We live just down the road! lol!
12.
Hello and welcome! I think there is a lady bassist from my town that uses a Traben as well! They look pretty cool - good to play?
It's not bad at all! Feels great to play and is more poppy and funky than my shine, great for pop or lighter rock.... lol.
13.
My girlfriend IS a bass player. And a much more talented one than me. What are you all doing with these non bass-girls?
Are there really that many around? I'm the only one I know of in our area!
14. Thanks. We're currently using Sonar and a Line 6 midi keyboard to record everything. Sounds pretty good so far. If anyone wants a sneaky listen pm me your email and I'll fling it over. Not 100% finished but the track just needs the EQ levelling out and the singer wants to rerecord his vocals before we post it on the myspace.
15. It's lush... let me find a pic Well here's one of me playing my Shine..apologies for the awful pic of me but I can't find another picture!
16. I have 2. A 4 string which I keep in Drop D, and a 5 string which I keep in Standard (beadg). Makes it easier to pick up and play
17. 'My Michelle' by guns n roses. Duff's a legend
18. Flea. I appreciate what he does but he's very arrogant with it and that puts me off totally.
19. I have cheap basses. More through neccesity than choice.. but I have to say my Shine SB55 5 string is the best sounding bass I've ever played... and it was only £149. Price doesn't represent quality or how well it suits what you're after in a bass.
20. Self taught here.. playing along to tab and CDs, picking up stuff by ear.
21. Hey all, my name's Sarah. I'm 22 and live in south Staffordshire. I've been playing bass on and off for around 5 years with breaks to have kids and get married.. you know... the usual excuses I'm currently in Cannock based band ThisIsNotAnExit which is a mix of hard rock and metal, kind of pantera/down/alter bridge-esque. Our myspace is www.myspace.com/thisisnotanexituk but we haven't got any songs up yet.. just waiting for the EQ to be sorted so it won't be long. Watch this space! Current gear.. OLP Traben TB4 4 String - Red with mirrored flame scratchplate Shine SB55 5 String - Green with wood effect Laney RBW300 Bass Amp - 165w Combo Zoom B2 multi effects pedal. Oh... and for those who care.. I play with a pick Take it easy, Sarah
