I haven't played anywhere other than our practice studio... *sob* but we might be playing the Varsity in Wolverhampton in August..... *frantically crossing everything and touching random wood*

I don't read them.... only because I'm banned after the last one I read featured the Little giant amps and now hubby isn't impressed as I want one sooooooooooooooooo bad.

I've got a Shine SB55 5 string bass and to be fair have hardly seen any others!!! It's a cheap bass (£150 off ebay lol) but the sound out of it is fantastic and could easily rival better branded basses with higher price tags... I can't be the only one out there who owns a Shine?? Anyone?

and just for the record.. I make a rubbish bearded lady (See pic <-----------------) lol!!!

Much more suited to funk/pop, which is why I'm looking to sell it. Got my Shine and my Dean now which are much more suited to what I play rock/metal.

I say we're 'supposed' to be doing it as although we've agreed with the venue the guitarists want to see where we are in 2 more practices and then decide 100%. Although we've sorted a list of songs and are practicing them and getting backing vocals sorted, as well as planning to take all our own amps to practice one week so I really can't see any reason why they'd want us to pull out. It's 1/2 hr and 2nd in on a 4 band bill and we're doing a mix of originals and covers. Personally I'm really excited I've always wanted to gig and not had a chance to get nervous yet..although I'm sure I will if they agree to go ahead!

Thanks guys.. I've not gigged before so all this is new to me...

Potentially have a gig coming up on the 30th August and have been debating this with drummy.... what do you guys think? Is it better to have the bass through the PA or an onstage amp?

IF you've only been playing 3 and a 1/2 months I would concentrate on getting used to playing and building up a good groove, learning from ear etc, before moving onto more advanced techniques. There's more to bass than playing one note at a time.

Purely a rock/metaller here. My band is heavy southern rock, and music wise I like anything from cradle of filth to morbid angel to lacuna coil and everything inbetween!
