  1. I think in the time of the smiths, Morrisey was fairly important to the band just because no-one else sounded that dreary and moaning which contrasted fantastically with the bouncy upbeat music, and if it had been someone else it wouldn't be the same. However, listening to Johnny Marrs album, which he is singing himself, its pretty clear he could have done it all himself, but the group just needed a focus. Post smiths, it doesn't work - morrisey is not interesting on his own, it was the contrast that was good. So I will say, yes, he was important for a small part of the 80s.
  2. It is, but as he said, he is doing it by request and if that is what people want to hear its not unreasonable. There are always going to be orders of magnitudes more PF fans than any of the other groups. I do think that any of the PF songs should be easy enough to work out, although I still keep trying noto get the original bass line of One Slip to sound right
  3. Hmm.. never really worked for me. regardless what any meter says, it is just easier to try it and see what it is like when playing at volume. I think most of my stuff got set up at sound checks a long time ago and left since then. I don't use the HX FX in the house anyway so it doesn't matter there.
  4. I haven't listened to radio 4 for a while (news got too depressing and had to stop listening), but although there are a lot more examples of this on BBC1 television channels, Radio 4 is far from immune. I listened when they had a 'climate debate' between a number of climate scientists talking about man made global warming and the well known climate scientist Nigel Lawson, who was saying there was no evidence of it. Yes, that Nigel Lawson (ex thatcher CoE and Prominant brexiter who then failed to get his french citizenship after we left). Both sides were given equal weigh so they were 'Balanced'. I hope if you say you have never heard anything like that, you have only just started listening and it has got better, but it was certainly not uncommon back a few years ago. - edit Oh yes, here is a bit on that: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/apr/09/bbc-radio-4-broke-impartiality-rules-in-nigel-lawson-climate-change-interview and I note that they had been done for that previously, but there are other examples of this sort of behaviour. As I said, radio 4 is about the best. BBC1 news is about the worst,
  5. Which is exactly how I use mine. In that end the LT gave me an additional two foot pedals, which were ok, an expression pedal I didn't use, but unfortunately took away a huge amount of space, which is more important Luckily never seen it so I don't miss it. Although metering doesn't seem like anything I would need live - I have the mixing screen of the X18 in front of me, enough metering for anyone!
  6. Nope, never had an issue with it, the HX has enough for what I want to do. Without needing the amp / cab stuff there is enough in there for everything I want. If I was performing with the Chapman stick, then I would probably want to go back to a Helix as that would be two processing paths, but that isn't going to happen any time soon
  7. Upgraded their helix to an LT? Isn't that a downgrade or did you mean a stomp? I got a LT cheap for a while but went back to my HX Effects. Sold it for more that I got it for though, which is good. If I had been a guitarist I fully FRFR would have probably kept it though.
  8. I assumed it was the law if you were a student, you had to.
  9. wouldn't say it is an embargo, its just that the HX Effects is for effects, like it says on the tin.
  10. Always loved Curve - Shame they didn't do a bit more
  11. "Please sir, can I carry your bags back to your car, can I help tidy up the classroom". Come on lads, lets get him when he gets out to the playground
  12. That comment is useless with pictures!
  13. Yay - mine turned up too!
  14. Oh but it's hard to live by the rules - I never could and still never do
  15. They are the talk of the town apparently
  16. That isn't a synth term as such, that is just a generic filter. A notch filter is a narrowish area where all output is removed. Generally used to remove a problematic frequency, such as noise or feedback. Why you would want that on a bass I don't know.
  17. Maybe a low pass filter with an exagerated shelf edge that notches, like a backwards square root symbol?
  18. <Checks postbox> 😢
  19. But he isn't though is he? You can't really turn on the telly without seing farage and his bunch of right wing nutjobs moaning about their free speech being curtailed. The president of america has been spouting right wing conspiracy theories heavily for the last 4 years, don't see his free speech going anywhere, or the whole news organisations set up to pander to that world view. If anything, there is more right wing free speech than left wing free speech these days. Even the bbc isn't allowed to come up with an opinion without having to add 'but some people think it is reasonable to drown immigrants in the channel' too to balance it out.
  20. Who wants a fender banjo?
  21. Even if they are reading it, noone is doing anything!
  22. No, but neither do pickups that have plastic covers have plastic pole pieces or windings! I like wooden pickup covers, don't have any now, I did have.
  23. Agreed the decal is way too high up, but the colour just looks like a Sienna Burst with an overly saturated photo. But if it was all genuine, isn't that really expensive for a 78 fretless P? I mean, is that the going rate for a late 70s P now? edit: No, Sienna burst wasn't intro'd until 79
  24. I have the TRH10 and used it for a long time, it is surprisingly good at bass. I haven't used it for a while as I have a lot of better things now, but it is impressive for its size.
