Yep - I sold my LT for £600 or so, and if you want the facilities and have the space it is a winner. Too big for me though. Bigger than the HX FX is a no from me.

Why so many short scale basses at the moment?
Woodinblack replied to Greg Edwards69's topic in Bass Guitars
I certainly like the idea, but then as most short scales are 4 string I end up not being able to gig it, as I don't have time to swap (as the guitarist is oblivious to everything on stage that isn't him). And the 5 I had, the messinger just didn't sound right (looked great though!). Of course the new ibanez 32" look interesting but not sure if it is enough difference from my srs, and I would love the new Ibanez short scales but they are not squier prices! -
The pickups didn't do it for me. Although I am thinking of the earlier model, the SR805MS - maybe it is different. Also there was something unnaturally odd about the neck for an ibanez. Also the nut seemed 'hacked', like they had taken a normal SR neck and put the nut on at an angle and didn't know what to do with the space, it had sharp edges and just felt wrong. The EHB solves all of those, it feels just like it was made that way. The SR2600? I just sold a 2650. There was nothing wrong with it but with the 1605 and 5005 I had a bit too much of a monoculture, so I sold it to get an EHB, except I have no patience and it took a long time to sell so I have had the EHB for quite a while. Note that the string spacing on the 2400/2405 is wrong - they obviously decided that some of those huged handed people who can handle jumping from string to string needed a proper bass, so they put P bass spacing on it - so if you like narrow necks, the 2400 is not your friend and unlike every other SR. Agreed - it looks nice

ok, so it is over £250 for a couple more buttons. Maybe skip that then!
-
Yes, they are a lot more expensive, although maybe justified. If the SRMS805 works for you then that is fine. I got rid of mine because it didnt work for me. Also the EHB is a very different bass to the SR - I have many more SRs than EHBs (even though I have recently got rid of a couple), I have the 1000/1605 and 5005 - two of which have barts, although US barts which are the same price as the nords. (actually looking at the below, slightly more). It will presumably in the BOM of the 5000 if you can dig that up on the japanese site. There are 4 models of 5000, 1-4. Selecting the latest one, the parts list is: https://cs.hoshinogakki.co.jp/pcw.nsf/item.xsp?documentId=5C353C9377D4BAB449258386007A9A66&strItemKey=SR5000_OL_00_04&curSuffix=0004&curFromYMTX=2018/12&curToYMTX=&strMode=newpage and the pickup leads to here: https://www.guitar-lounge.at/Ibanez-Parts-Merch-Amps-Effects/ibanez-pickups/guitar-parts-pick-up-ibanez-en.html?language=en

Actually, I do have some big blades in a box on the shelf, maybe they are the right size. Got them for something that I never did, but currently dont have any basses with wrong pickups! Still keeping an eye out then .That was why I got the 1505 over the 1005 - less hassle all round, which is what worries me with the 1005sms
-
For me the yamaha was just marginally more likeable on some sections, but only because they were switched in small sections. If the guy and done one whole section, waited a minute and done the same thing on the other bass, I doubt I would have been able to tell the difference. And of course from a practical point of view, the jazz had a string missing!

Yeh - i leave it a while, I get really keen and then go off the idea, but this seems to be holding. But I have had 4 short scales and currently don't have any, so I am not sure if I need them or not! -
Would love the pink in a 5! But I would be happy with whatever colour. But then it has those pickups in which I know I wouldn't like, and then it all gets expensive again!

I tried to buy one but it turned out that they hadn't started producing them yet, so I cancelled the order. Now I have one in my basket online. It has been there a few days now... -
I never really found the sounds convincing but it isn't what I use it for so I never found it an issue
-
Well, I got a mail about it from Line6 today. It certainly fixes one of my main issues with the Stomp - the lack of buttons. Probably don't need it because I have the FX, but might be something that would be useful for the stick. Interesting to see what the price is. Also it has bumped up the number of blocks to 8 - edit £679 at gak - a bit rich but presumably street price will go down.

Would have to have black metal pickup surrounds
-
Not quite - my last car was gunmetal grey, and I liked that colour. better on a car than a bass though IMO. You could be right about the wood. Yep, its got to be special (to the owner - sod everyone else). When the sunlight is in the right place (and present) in my office it lands on the shuker and catches my eye (pretty easy, it is right next to where I work) and I have a 'wow' moment.
-
Yes, both white and black are good. Other colours could be too but that is like a non-colour, like grey cars a few years ago which I noticed were a thing as a few years ago my work carpark was 7 grey cars and one bluey off grey. I find colour is more important the more expensive something is. Well, to a point, if my other half doesn't like the colour of a bass it doesn't get to live in the living room!
-
Cant say i am surprised in that colour, doesn't really have mass market appeal like white or black

NBD (the other day) and getting back into playing bass again
Woodinblack replied to Greggo's topic in Bass Guitars
Squier need to get their naming sorted - fender only offered one 5 string in the 70s and it wasn't like that! I liked having that option (the S1 switch) on the jazz when you just needed a bit more. -
I find it a very useful tool, and what I use for most things like that. It has a few little hangups, and it takes a bit of time to get round the keyboard (which is easier on a full keyboard than a laptop), but for what it does it is well worth it for me.

FS: Overwater Perception 5 String - PRICE DROP - *SOLD*

True, although that can be said for many things, how can I prove my ibanez headstock split on its own and I didn't just heat it up and put a chisel in it? Luckily I didn't. However, in this case there is glue on the threads. OK it is possible the user did that afterwards but unlikely. - some times you just have to go on likelyhood.
-
Those are. I had commented before about their user manuals. The user manual for the EHB contains information on a lot of bridge and control adjustment, none of which exists on the EHB. It doesn't tell you how to adjust its bridge. With humbuckers, the change is different in that you already have two coils connected already, so any other effect is going to be lesser. Its not an issue but it isn't something that can be corrected by an EQ in that although it is a bit of a mid scoop, it isn't reqlly an eq issue. And also only exists at full volume, any change of the volume control will affect it.
