Gerry bought some strings off me. Very nice guy to deal with and would not hesitate to deal with Gerry again.
Maybe so, but once I set it up well and sorted out the wiring problems the low end punch, especially in drop tuning, is so much clearer than, dare I say it, either of my Fenders. It is my "go-to" bass for Get Over It now!
I didn't mean to dismiss it as just a cheap freebie! Just trying to help you put the puzzle together, :-)

Off topic, but the Hartke bass thing in your signature made me smile. I remember in the late 90's Hartke gave those basses to dealer if they ordered loads of amps.
Than play some Custom Shop Fenders and maybe you'll feel the difference and you'll become more critic in the same time. Best
I agree with you that CS basses are amazing, I proudly own 3, but to many people they are just another bass and not worth the cash, I personally don't agree with that in the slightest as CS basses stand out a mile to me, but I guess it's relative to taste?
Mercedes builds Mercs in China. So why not manufacture Fenders there as well. Becoming a boutique guitar builder , based in California, is not what Fender is all about. Fender's were created to be the Ford model T of the guitar world, affordable by Joe Public everywhere.
+1 I like that kids and people on a budget can buy a Fender.

I've heard within the MI that Fender will be cutting back the range and making their dealer selection tougher, the usual trick of ensuring the dealer has a set limit of stock. They've always done that, but it looks like it may be higher? IMO, the range is too big and that's not easy for dealers in terms of stock keeping. Many industries are streamlining these days but I doubt Fender will ever be in serious trouble. Losing Takamine is not a problem, distributions deals change on a regular basis in MI and Takamine will probable go solo just like Fender did in the UK in 2003. Long live Fender I say!

Due to the gold hardware I'm guessing yours is the version without the pickguard? Nice looking and good basses, quite different to the usual Deluxe basses. They didn't sell as quickly back then, but those who liked them loved them. Up to a grand I reckon, Lozz's £800 is realistic for a p/x and keeps you nice and safe. Enjoy it !
Neck - can't fault it. It's a P bass neck, slim and well finished.
I wonder if the one i got for my mate was an older version with a nasty big neck? Sounds like yours is nicer.

No, no, no, this isn't the one in my NBD post which I recently bought! This is the other one my friend previously owned. He had two of these but has switched to Modulus and left Fender behind (what's wrong with having both?). I just took this on a part exchange to help pay for the other I just got. When he said he was selling them I had to jump on to one, they are amazing basses. It's a made in 2014 Relic version of a 1964 Precision, aged Olympic White. The neck is incredible and really does feel like a pre CBS neck, which I have found to not always be the case on CS basses. The tone is exceptional and its a nice light weight at 8.5lbs. It's currently strung with Thomastik, but I have some new roundwoumds or barely used Fender flats if prefered. It was bought in May 2014 and I believe that they are no longer available in the UK unless special ordered. It has a 'new' vibe about it as it has only been used a small handful of times. These cost between £2400 - £2600 to buy new when they were available. Comes with the original case and all case candy. I got a second hand one for £35 for a mate who was starting, I really didn't like it and had to confess to him that I thought it was awful. He kept it anyway and now has one bass at home and the LA at work. From my experience, there are far better and more comfortable cheap basses out there, A second hand Squier affinity would be a good start. Still, we all like different things!
If everyone could refrain from posting pictures of their Sonic Blue basses I'd really appreciate it (as will my bank balance).
Probably best you don't follow the link.....http://www.coda-music.com/fender-custom-shop-precision-bass-p-15040.html
Nice! If you let her go please le me know
Ok mate, it looks like it'd suit you! I'm really hoping that I don't have to sell it, but If I do I'll let you know. (And of course I'll be sure to do this properly and donate some cash to the good folks of Basschat)

Thanks again! Played it a lot last night, not a good idea as I may need a shoulder operation and I needed whiskey and pain killers to get me through, but we all know it's worth it really! This 64 really compliments my CS 55 Precision, they are so different in tone yet the quality is well matched so its a great addition to the fold. I'm even getting my head around the colour, which is great as I've always been stuck on sunburst so it's nice to be appreciating other colour P's too.
ON HOLD I found another set of TI's in the cupboard. These were on a Fretless for a short while before I sold it and are in good condition. Price includes signed for post.
ON HOLD I found another set of TI's in the cupboard. My good pal just got these two beauties.... 2007 FB4 2014 FU4
I have a feeling my CS Jazz will eventually become something P Bass-shaped
Haha, don't you just hate it when those thoughts start creeping in? And you just got her back too, I really like your Jazz, great colour. I get the feeling my new P Bass may become car shaped if I don't find a way to keep it. But I'm trying my damned hardest not to let that happen....
That is gorgeous
Cheers pal. I came so close to buying a Mike Lull P4 when I visited Seattle recently but couldn't get the price right so I'm glad this one fills that gap. Both are great basses so I'm happy to have one of them. Looks like my hunt for a 5 string is now over too, the P Bass always wins in the end with me!
Thanks man. I'm still stunned by how completely different these three are.
I couldn't be outdone by you Warren so I bought a made in 2014 CS 1964 Precision last night! There is a story http://basschat.co.u...shop-precision/ but I hope I manage to keep it!
