  1. I'd be prepared to buy a whole bunch of them so I don't have to go looking ever again....
  2. Count me in for some thumb rests if you guys can make this happen. Acrylic or Aluminium would be great! :-) I got a thumb rest on my Stingray - it was on before I bought it - can't find any mention of them anywhere so I guess it was made specifically for the last owner.
  3. Last night we played in the Oystercatcher in Polzeath. For the uninitiated, that's where all the sloanes go for their holidays when they can't get to Klosters and need to slum it in Cornwall. For the first set, it was one of those gigs where everyone likes the music, but you could hear a pin drop in between songs - everyone's too cool to clap, even though a couple of pissed up lads were horsing around on the dance floor and having a great time. Nevertheless, we got some very positive feedback at the bar during half time, so we soldiered on manfully, or in Emma the sax-player's case, girlfully! Things loosed up during the second set and sufficient alcohol was imbibed in order to free people from their self-imposed fear of impropriety, and it all went dancey-dancey from then til the end and it was a good gig in the end. There was a high proportion of blonde, fit surfer chicks with tight buns and tight jeans, which made Mr. Odysseus a very happy bass player. Bloody lovely! *wipes sweaty paws on front of flapping trousers*
  4. @D.I.Joe - it was either £299 of Genz or £1050 of Barefaced. I did the math lol
  5. We managed to survive a gig in Cornwall's (allegedly) roughest pub, The Swordfish in Newlyn. Having heard of it's reputation, there was an element of trepidation, but the fact of it was that we had a really enjoyable and well-received gig. They seem to love their rock and roll. As a bonus, I was able to give my newly-acquired Geddy Lee jazz bass, and my new Genz combo a chance to stretch their legs. Good stuff!
  6. Hey there, Dreamcaster. Welcome to the forum!
  7. ^^^^ Hmm yes, this makes sense. Thanks for the info, it's good to know the reasons.
  8. I have the same problem. Plus, the quote function will not work for me. Also, typing my response in wordpad and pasting it into the reply box will not work either. I frequent many forums, but this is the only forum where I experience this problem. Weird....
  9. OK, thanks for your input. I will investigate
  10. I've been playing for years, but never really bothered with much in the way of effects, so as a result I know sod all about them. What I need is a pedal that will give me a bit more volume when I stamp on it, then back to normal when I stamp on it again - I don't want one of those car-accelerator type pedals were I gotta fart around trying to get it exactly where it was before. What do I need to get? Any advice gratefully received Cheers Rob
  11. This weeks new goodies - A Genz Benz Contour500 210T for smaller gigs when I don't need the BT2. And a rather lovely Fender Geddy Lee Jazz bass, just purchased from Mart3442. Good days!
  12. Just bought a Fender Geddy Lee Jazz bass off Mart. Great communication, and the bass was very well packed (I could have dropped it off my balcony and it would have been ok!) and just as advertised. A quick, easy and painless transaction - a pleasure to do business with. Many thanks!! Rob
  13. Greetings!
  14. Bass players do it deeper. Couple that with my finger technique and I'm a reg'lar Errol Flynn
  15. I was never a huge fan, but I went to a show about 20 years ago just for shits and giggles..... and gee-whizz, what a show. One of the best I've ever seen.
  16. That's pretty much what I was thinking. Genz it is. Thanks for your input, guys
  17. I'm in Cornwall, mate. Where men are men and sheep are nervous! I'll take it. Been after a Jap Ged for a while. A quick look at a pic to make sure would be cool though.
  18. I'm interested. Can you give me a price that includes postage please, mate?
  19. Hi guys and gals, I'm looking for a combo for smaller gigs. I've just been reading tobiewharton's thread about combos and the Genz Contour seems to get a lot of love. The other one I was looking at was the Roland Cube 120XL. I haven't heard any mention of the Roland, so I was just after a few opinions before I take the plunge. I play mainly rock 'n' roll in my current band, but a funk capability would be good too. Would I be right in thinking Genz is the way forward? Many thanks Rob
  20. Bloody hell, mate. That is fantastic! Mucho respect!

  22. This is great! Very well played and put together, very well recorded... and I really like the dude's voice. Rap normally isn't my thing, but this isn't a normal rap track. Cracking work, guys!
  23. That's a bloody lovely bass...
  24. ^^^ Cheers bud.. Why doesn't the quote function work for me? *ponders*
