1.
The poster maybe hasn't checked out the 'average demographic' of JMB perhaps ?
Most of the adverts seem to be in the region of "Professional producer (middle aged guy with a keyboard) looking to put together an all girl band (between the ages of 18 and 22), own rehearsal space (his living room) and industry contacts (wrote down the number for xfactor applications) experience and talent not required, please send full length photo, clothing optional....."
2. OK I put this on my wonky kitchen scales last night.... and it came in at just under 9lb... To be honest I'm not convinced of the accuracy of my £5 Argos kitchen scales..... I'll try and find a more reliable method at the weekend.
3. I guess it's just limited to what he can get hold of really...
4. I didn't end up buying anything in the end... nearly bought a roscoe sixer but decided against it. I spent most of the day trying to chew through the vegetables that came with the Sunday Lunch i bought at the pub down the road....
5.
He did not when I wrote him oct last year. But very cool if he is offering it now
Ah I didn;t realise you'd already asked him about it.... Thinking about it, as he buys the necks in I doubt anyone is making dot and bound necks?
6. They also had a girl on their stand playing the same riff on repeat....
7.
One exception, I bagged a tobacco burst RAY 34CA with a tinted maple neck early on the Saturday but had to carry it around with me all weekend, I didn't like the cream one either
You must have bought that before I got there.... That looks lovely.
8.
Can Mark do a 66 jazz with dots and binding?
I'd imagine so.... drop him an email and ask
9. I had a good look at a few at the LBGS this year. Whats the deal with the finishes on the models they had there though? they were all horrendous, the worst was a cream one with a camo green scratchplate looked like it came out of a kinder egg.... For such a pleasing shaped bass they sure come in some awful colour combinations....
10. Not sure I could get it on the tube...
11.
Try Chrome - I switched months ago and never looked back.
Mrs C uses chorme... I use firefox... neither of us know anything about browsers but we still argue about which is best, even though we have no idea what we're talking about....
12.
That's the way to do it Infact that is how I do it. We have two girls in the band, one on guitar and one singing
We have a girl in our band too... She comes on flanked by two muscular guys in tight pants... in the interests of equality...
13. We all have individual walk on music and enter the stage one at a time flanked by two girls in heels and inappropriatly tight clothing..
14. As some of you may be aware from previous threads, there have been several delays to a custom build I ordered from Jon in April 2013. The instrument I ordered was not part of any BC deal and was a regular order I placed after liking what I’d seen of his basses and being quoted a reasonable price and timescale. A month or so back, after I had waited almost a year longer than the original quoted build time and been given several completion dates (all of which passed with absolutely no evidence of progress), my considerable patience with the issues surrounding the build ran out and I sort legal advice as to how to get the instrument finished, or how to recover my deposit. I was advised to send a ‘Letter before Action’ giving a final chance for the instrument to be completed within a reasonable timeframe, along with details of my intended legal proceedings and evidence I would be presenting should the matter escalate. I received a prompt reply and Jon agreed to the timescale (a further two months) and my bass is due on the 15[sup]th[/sup] of July… and I have to say I have seen considerable progress since I sent my letter. The body has now been glued up, carving is well underway and the pickups have been wound (see below) communication is also vastly improved and I’m being given regular updates. As the neck has already been finished for some time, I am reasonably confident that I will eventually have the bass in my hands next month. The whole process has been very frustrating but… credit where it is due, things have turned around in the last month and I’m pleased with how things are finally coming together.
15. You'll know it's not a real one if it sounds good....
16.
How much does it weigh please ?
I'll pop it on the scales when I get home tonight... All I can offer for the moment is the totally quantifiable "it's lighter then my other one"
17. My esteemed colleague above demonstrates the issue with a like button.... What if you only like half of a post? On the rare occasions that I make a valid contribution to a thread I'm likely to upset people in the very same post by saying something like Rickenbackers are rubbish....
18. Anyway when did this thread stop being about ringpulls?
19. To be honest... anyone who is offended by something someone says on the internet needs to take a good look at why they are letting the thoughts of a random stranger affect their lives anyway... in short... who cares? I think there are alot of very insecure people out there who are so unsure of their own opinions they need other people to verify them all the time.
20. I think it's a setting you have to tick if you want notifications...
21. Last one I promise... NEVER let the band tell you bass is easier than guitar or something. If you are a smart bassist, argue with them until they are convinced.
22. I wish I was Australian, it would be a less painful experiance following the national cricket team...
23. I've never been on wikihow before, there are loads of comical threads about starting a band. My favourite so far is from the "How to be in a cool band" thread 8) If you are getting booed then finish the song and get off stage. Don't continue if no-one's buying it.
24. In many cases, the bassist in a rock band can be forgotten by fans or shunned by the other members, especially if bass is the only instrument they regularly play.... Tis the bass players lot.....
25. I have one of these that I use permenantly on for everything... I don't use any drive but just set flat it adds a lovely warmth to the sound.
