  1. Ah it’s back on now I’ll lower my standards just this once
  2. How do you find them now after you’ve been playing them for a while? I’m tempted to try some whilst stocks of Elixir super lights pick up again. I always tune down to D and normally find that the 0.95 E string handles that really nicely (I play with a super light touch). I wonder if these would be ok? Do you have any pics of the strings up close compared to a ‘normal’ round?
  3. Wouldn’t mind a sound clip if possible! Can we hear it with both pups and P only?
  4. I always think you sound like a really nice bloke when I read your posts. This confirms it!
  5. Perfect for carrying your Roger Fenderer
  6. I bought a pedal and some weaponised uranium from Carlos and everything was perfect 🤩
  7. I spent a little while last night setting a default envelope filter sound. It’s great - by setting a higher VCF attack speed you can get it sounding really bubbly and squelchy. Can anyone tell me how to add a clean blend, is it to do with the premix settings? (Ignore me, found it)
  8. It arrived today so I’ve had a literal 10 minute whirl through some patches and it sounds fantastic so far. I find the menu system ok to be honest, I’ll probably modify existing patches rather than build my own from scratch at least for a while. I’ve been a VB99 user for years and love mine to bits but I don’t really use it as a synth, more as a Swiss Army knife pre/interface and multi fx. It’s got the best compressor in I’ve ever tried (including cali big box and FEA). Awesome thing, and I love the form factor. But with that many buttons it’s easy to work of course.
  9. The SB1 was the same but with one pickup
  10. It’s an old shape SB2 before they went PJ
  11. I rarely bother even reading descriptions. Plus I'm sure it's not nitro anyway.
  12. Old style SB2 for sale in the UK. Good price too https://reverb.com/uk/item/54767175-g-l-sb-2-black-83-84
  13. Bought a (second!) Backbeat from Cetera, who packed and posted like the best of 'em. Thanks!
  14. I’ve just read the firmware update bit so that’s answered my own question!! Sounds easy enough
  15. Thanks! Yeah it looks complicated but I don’t mind learning how to navigate complex menu systems (vbass user!) and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in. I’ll probably not change any settings or saves for a while but I guess I’ll reset and update it when it arrives (how do I check current firmware and is updating easy?) I’ve got loads of old 2gb cards as my favourite camera (Epson RD1) uses them so that should be ok 👍🏼 I’m sure I’ll be asking you lots of questions! Have you used yours on batteries? What’s the life like?
  16. ...just bought one. Should be fun to play with... I have just looked at the manual and it all looks logical enough, and tbh I much prefer not having to use the computer for things like that. Two main reasons for buying - it sounds amazing and runs on batteries, even with a 'save battery life' mode... seems like a great design and should be interesting to compare to my Future Impact. I wondered if anyone here has had one (I seem to recall someone has?) Cheers ped
  17. I prefer a flan
  18. I think Mayones have such an option on their mini Cali basses (and presumably their full scale basses too) I won't go into detail about my love for headphone setups but will just add that any such system can be made 100% amazing by using a backbeat or similar tactile feedback device. Paired with a great headphone mix you'll hear and feel exactly what you want.
  19. Yep I believe we said that earlier
  20. I presume they’re referring to the Roland GK2B pickup as multi channel, which it technically is, but it will only output that latency free to a Roland GK device or a ‘breakout box’ which will output each string separately but the box pictures doesn’t look like such a device. The other way it’ll work is through a MIDI device but there’s a bit of latency as that requires pitch to midi conversion (the Roland pickup is often incorrectly called a midi pickup)
  21. For me it depends on the instrument, and it takes time to get used to the feel and sound sometimes. If I’m slapping rounds on a 70s Jazz one day then I pick up my P with flats it feels like I’m twanging bands on a box, but after a little while the ear and fingers get accustomed to the quiet majesty and expressive tone of the silky little sods.
  22. I have never tried both on the same bass, but from memory Tis feel a bit rougher under the fingers, more like a metal, and are quite floppy. Once strung up they are nice and woody sounding and comfortable to play. I really liked them. The only Labellas I use are the light ones, which feel very similar as far as I remember. Don't think you can go wrong with either.
  23. Very kind of you! Thanks! Not really; the bass signal is going into my VB99 but the ‘patch’ for my bass is basically clean, some limiter set for a high threshold that helps the bass sit nicely. The amp sim is ‘super flat’ and I’m pretty sure nothing is more than a tiny bit away from dead centre. When I play this bass somewhere else it sounds the same into a different desk or amp 👍🏼
  24. I don’t see a stingray anywhere. Sort it
