  1. I’ve got an 83 stingray but it’s one of the white ones with better UV resistance so it’s still bright white. Never really been a fan of yellowed white on basses tbh
  2. …or somewhere between white and brown?!
  3. Ah I see, so it's a rotary switch - there's one for sale here https://reverb.com/item/33188518-vigier-passion-4-graphite-neck-active-bass-1986-white Yes the Nautilus was Arpege only. Nearly had one a few years ago but it fell through.
  4. Yeah I’m pretty sure it’s the first one I’ve seen. I really like the sound of the wooden necked Arpege basses I’ve had but they tend to be pretty heavy with that metal laminate and a truss rod.
  5. Well fancy that! It does look like a wooden neck! And yeah no probs posting links to things for sale elsewhere.
  6. No worries, it'll definitely be graphite especially with the later pickups. Never ever seen a wooden necked series I Passion. I'll ask Patrice of they ever did them just to be sure!
  7. Here’s an early passive one but with carbon neck still https://www.muzines.co.uk/articles/vigier-passion-passive/12523
  8. The two knob versions sometimes had a removable preamp module with pre set EQ so the remaining knobs are vol and balance. I’ve only ever seen a couple like this though and the system never caught on, a bit like the Nautilus preamp. The one above looks like a carbon neck to me? Can’t find it on the site, got a link? Also looks active with the para EQ as standard?
  9. It wouldn't be a Fender 😄
  10. M80 Classic https://monocreators.com/pages/m80-classic
  11. Looks great!! Just don’t hack it to bits and install different pickups will you 😗
  12. Congratulations!! The pots wouldn’t bother me in the slightest (and I assume they brought the price down?) The original pots wouldn’t have sounded any different and probably needed replacing. To me the most important thing about a vintage bass is how it feels and plays. Maybe not to collectors who don’t play, but they’re to blame for the craze anyway! oh and you can’t just say that and post no pics!
  13. Chunk systems Octavius squeezer! And I have one for sale
  14. Thanks!! Makes all the difference.
  15. Thinking about buying a board, probably one of those Aclam ones with mounting blocks rather than using Velcro. The small size one should work, not sure I’d get my tuner on here too but I don’t really need it on the board. I’d probably go with these:
  16. The people who bring the things in are actors. Otherwise how do they know which ‘experts’ to have in hand on a filming day, and make sure the show isn’t just people handing over DVDs?
  17. Exactly. We’ve all typed out a message on a mobile and realised it’s full of mistakes later. Not a big deal! Here’s my new strap, anyway!
  18. I did double check tbh!!
  19. Bought a strap from them on Sunday evening and it came today, very good
  20. The earliest Passion basses had wider horns as you can see on this bass. They narrowed them down a bit in around 1988 I think or thereabouts
  21. I might be wrong but I’m 99% sure the passion entered service with a graphite neck and never had the wooden neck/metal laminate that the Arpege had until the series II instruments.
  22. Whoops slight edit, need to up my typing technique
  23. This really is a Bc first. I’m happy to judge the competition and offer a cash prize. Just let me know your bank details @peteb
  24. The most I've spent is £3500 but as we all know, that's the same as £3500 sitting there in the bank doing nothing. If I can buy an instrument ('Functional art') and enjoy it, and it holds or increases in value, why not? I don't think I'll have £3500 to play with again for a long time but I don't regret any expensive bass I've had. Technically I'd pay anything if I had the liquid funds and was confident I could sell it for the same. In fact most of my 'bass wealth' came from buying two very ice instruments at a bargain price back in about 2003, a Medulla MVP and a shell pink 1975 RI P bass. I realise the above is about used basses and the OP is probably referring to brand new, in which case I honestly don't think I'd ever buy a brand new bass (same as with a car).
  25. A fair point, IMO. Not sure why there's so much negativity - if you don' like it, don't buy it! I think if you're already considering a Bongo then this is only a small step further and as the seller says in the description, a blank canvas to do more mods/refinish etc as desired.
