1.
Hmm. I'm not so sure. The points are 'reputation' points. Just because someone (or a few) doesn't agree with you, you get a bad reputation? This kind of stuff might affect a sale you have up, or another area where you have great knowledge and expertise. It seems like a 'poster' is being rated by a person who lacks the front to break cover. I may disagree with you... but I shall fight to the death for your right to disagree with me... as long as you have the b**locks to front me face to face, and reputation will be intact.
Take a look around the forum - has this happened so far? Even if it did, like I said, it's just to see what it's like. Call it an experiment. Where's the harm in that? If you had any idea how many things you have to experiment with when you have such a big forum as Basschat you would realise it's impossible to be right all the time, which is why we're letting you decide by a vote. In the meantime feel free to ignore it.
2. Well, like I said, we are only trying it for fun. No harm done, surely?!
3. I'll prob post it up during the day on Fri and keep it until Monday then as I can't see much getting done on Sunday ped
4. I guess it's up to the software and I'm just crossing my fingers for a patch to fix the error soon...
5. Basschat is just loads of lions with guns
6. I have just proposed a public vote to be open this wekend. I'll announce it nearer the time but we'll let you vote three ways; rep system, like only, or nothing. Seems like the fairest way to do it! Plan is to post it up on Fri night for the weekend. Cheers ped
7.
And I've learnt a lot from all types of reply, more than I could have learned from a number. Long live the written reply
I agree... I don't think many will use it as a substitute for a proper reply but I have just said I don't like the rep system so far. I think we'll open a poll so you can all vote at some point soon and let you choose.
8. Good discussions here - nice to see a good debate on the subject. I'm not sure I like it either, but it's still fun to try because we wanted to see what it looked like. ped
9. Yes it could get rather silly. Well, nothing ventured nothing gained...
10. I can see a little red down arrow and a green up arrow with a number in the bottom right of each person's posts. Presumed everyone could see that. Agree it should be visible to everyone for it to work.
11. I think that was to protect us from being targeted by nasty people but a few of us have said we don't mind if we have one too. I certainly don't. ped
12. It's only a trial, anyway. We may get rid of it soon

Theme Change?

OK thanks I'll see if we can sort it because that isn't good...
14. Thanks Ben!
15. I hope so... there's probably a few things still in a 'transitional' phase right now.
16.
Hi - any news on iPhone/mobile version of Basschat? (Did a quick search - but might have missed an earlier update on this). Many thanks
The mobile version was looked at last night and I expect to have some news on it soon. We just installed the patch update so a few things might be a little different. The main thing is to get the 'first unread post' buttons back... Cheers
17. Ben has just installed a patch to fix some other issues so I'm guessing it's due to that. I have notified him so hope it will be fixed asap.
18. Sad news Darren. Get in touch if I can help you shift that closing down stock.
19.

Looks amazing. Always thought these felt like my bass. Lovely.
20. V nice Silddx.. Here's mine, been my #1 since as long as I care to remember. Vigier Passion 2 with Marleaux electronics and Roland GK system
21. I'm pretty sure on my 36" strung-through-bridge bass I had Elixir strings which just about fit. The G string was OK by virtue of the fact that the machine head for that string was on the opposite side of the headstock parallel with the A string (like a MM bass)

adverts

Shouldn't be anything in the reply box. All our ads are from sponsors who are bass specific though there is a 17% chance the top left banner will display something based on your browser history/cache or contents of the page, and a 50% chance of the bottom doing the same. I was changing some things around earlier today and updating some banners so that might have been it, but if it's still doing it a screen dump would be marvellous. Cheers ped
23.
Just copy the one out of the address bar - that's the usual one. i don't know what the logic is with the 'share' URL...
I think it's shortened for Twitter word limits. I always just use the one in the address bar.

25. Lovely bass... here's some tracks I recorded with it: Buyer won't be disappointed! Here's a pic of it when I had it. The extra knob on the bass is a Villex pickup booster that John East fitted in his workshop when I showed him the bass. We were both interested in the extra sounds it gave. Good luck with the sale ped
