2. K guys many thanks for the help. I always used to use a small mixer at my last house but my brother took it with him and latterly I was having some problems with the iPod sound, it came out really tinny and garbled, almost like ripping music at 100kbps - kind of glassy and distorted. i wasn't sure if it was the RCA jacks on the TAPE IN section or just a mismatch somehow. I'll pick up another cheap mixer and see how I get on. Don't fancy getting my laptop involved as with my technical ability it's just asking for trouble, and in my experience music+computers don't mix (unless someone is doing that part for me) Cheers ped
3. Ok guys I need a bit of advice about some practice gear. At home I want to be able to practice along to music on my computer or iPod. My bass goes into my Vbass unit and comes out of that in stereo, as two 1/4" jacks. I want to be able to practice along with music through my headphones, too. So, I want a small neat unit with two 1/4" inputs which work in stereo or mono when only one is used, a 3.5mm input for audio source, and an output also in 3.5mm. Might be good if it had a volume control for each channel (bass and audio) and a master vol. Battery and mains power would be cool, also. What's out there? Cheers ped
4. I basically can't get anything in my C6 as the back seats don't fold in any way (they are electric) and I don't want gear on my leather seats. The boot fits my basses in sideways but my cabs have to go on a thick rug across the passenger seats, but I don't like doing that either!
5. Lorne - you FOUND those double necks?? Literally FOUND them??? Sweet!
6. Yeah, and I haven't looked back since! Best money I ever spent! Good times.
7. I got my fretted Vigier for £500 :0)
8. Hmm. Strange. Does the noise happen at all if you don't play anything? Does it ONLY happen at the start of a note? Are you able to try a different amplifier with the same cab? I wonder if it could be an electronics issue (grounding/clipping) possibly in the bass or amplifier? It could also be interference from something else in the room - when my TV is on I used to get a faint but constant ticking through my IEMs. ped

Gorillaz

They sound fairly samey to me, which I like. Slow funky grooves with interesting sounds...
14. Anyone here listen to the Gorillaz? I just saw the TV advert for the new album and it had a nice groove in the background. Just got their 'Demon Days' CD and listened to the new one online. Seems pretty groovy with some tasty basslines (even if some are synth!) Really like the lead synth sound in this track, gonna cop it on my Vbass this weekend! 15. It might take a few goes to get it in a position where it doesn't vibrate in sympathy with the rest of the bass. Give at another try :0) ped
16. Ah good. I learned the hard way and spent ages trying to work it out on my bass a while back. Satisfyingly simple, for once! ped
17. My pleasure, hope it works. ped
18. It's probably the spring in the bridge, behind the saddle for the A string... take it of and give it a stretch or just give it a bit of a twiddle and it will sort the vibration out. ped
19. Great job on the sanding. Really looking forward to watching this one. ped
20.
Good heavens above will these wonders of modern technology never cease to amaze me. So let me get this right, there are pictures of....... no surely not.
Yep, that's right... Bongos
21. I also had a matched set of Harmas from Watford valves, give them a ring and tell 'em your a baschatter. As far as I know, the valves I out in my 400+ about 4 years ago are still going strong. ped
22. I guess it is a bit 'metal' looking, but I think it's pretty funky, too. And it felt and sounded superb!
23.
Tried Vmaxblues' old Arpege, the tone will stick in my head forever. Dunno if it was graphite or what but I got butterflies - real driving rock punch.
That was a pre-graphite one, with a brass laminate under the fingerboard, I think. Very cool bass. You can't beat 'em IMO! (well, I prefer the Passion model to the Arpege, but only a bit!)
24. These are awesome, really full sounding and with a character all of their own. http://www.thebassgallery.com/product_deta...e=Bass%20Guitar ped
