1.
I moved from DR to Elixir and thought they were great, problem is that they don't fit Warwick bridges particularly well! Whilst I was willing to shoehorn one onto my old Streamer, there's no way I was gunna do it to the SS1 or the Infinity... funnily enough, I'm back on DR now!
Interesting - is that due to the bridge break angle? How do the DRs differ, are they those exposed core types?
2. Personally I'd never have a custom made for me.
3. Any takers for the last two sets?
4. Hi guys Recently Elixir Strings ran a competition for some BC members to try their strings. This thread is for the feedback from the tests conducted. Winners have been asked to place feedback here but if you are reading this and didn't enter the comp - or did and didn't win, and you use Elixir strings, I'm sure any extra feedback would be interesting too. Cheers ped P.s Feedback will start to arrive in a week or so as the strings are being sent out at the moment
5. I'm getting one soon from TC to review
6. Just in case someone wants either the D'Addario or Roto sets that are left, I'll next be able to post on Tuesday. Cheers
7.
Hope not
hehe nah yours are fine Posted today by the way! Cheers
8. One pack of Rotos and one pack of D'addario's left!
9.
Have you kept them below room temperature?
It's possible that the Elixirs have melted into one big string, yes
10. Yeah I can't really do anything nowadays without slipping into Partridge. I was so pleased to be able to say 'I'm not driving a mini metro' a few weeks ago in a real life situation.
11.

😂😂😂 that's the picture I was looking for!!!

13. Correction - the seller has 'been' disappeared
14. I understand that it's not for everyone, but it does work out in the end for most people. Whilst you pay upfront there's no time limit to sell the item, there's no final fee and you get to sell it within a dedicated and passionate community. Being a member for the forum and just chatting about basses is just as welcome so it's all cool IMO ped
15. No problem I tend to deal with several payment problems a week and I always sort people out almost immediately. Because it happens largely by email/PM, people don't see how busy I am with my A* customer service Oh and it's been like that since day 1, no matter how much the company is 'worth' - even though we're not the 'Chat Partnership' any more. Cheers ped
16. Should be fine if you log out, clear cache, then try again. Failing that perhaps try another computer? Also try logging out of Paypal so you have to log in again when paying.. Cheers ped
17. Hi chaps This is what's happened - you've probably gone back a page during the listing/paying process and as such both 'items' have been added to your basket. You need to start all over again, probably clear your cookies too. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any problems ped
18. Elixir strings have been a sponsor of Basschat for several years now and they have offered several competitions and giveaways during that time. Elixir now want your help in testing their new and improved strings. They're offering 20 members the chance to test their new and improved Nanoweb coated strings in return for some feedback about them. The best feedback will win a year's supply of strings (3 sets) They say: When we set out to redesign our bass range, the first thing we did was listen. Working closely with the global bass community, we asked 4000+ players what they needed from a bass string, and recruited 1000+ players for field trials to help improve our protective NANOWEB® Coating. Their feedback drove the development of new Nickel Plated Steel and Stainless Steel Bass Guitar Strings. With improved performance and a wider choice, the new bass line that modern musicians demand is here. The Nanoweb coating has been improved to make it more durable (I'd be interested to see how pick players get on with them) and the tension, profile and feel have all been tweaked. The strings are available in nickel or steel depending on your tastes and Elixirs say the sound and feel is different, too. How do you enter? All I want you to do is to reply to this thread with the following information: Have you tried Elixir strings before? What other brands are you familiar with? What bass(es) will you try the new strings on? What sort of environment will you be playing them in (e.g studio, gigging, practicing) Why do you think you'll be a good candidate to test the strings? Links to any blogs/reviews you may have already posted (not essential but interesting) So - get posting. I've been using Elixirs for years now, and completely without bias I say they suit me down to the ground. A year's supply of strings for me would probably be a couple of sets because they just seem to last so well in my hands. My preference for the strings resulted in me contacting them a few years ago about advertising so I'm really pleased that the relationship between Elixir and Basschat has continued. For more information about the strings and to have a look at the sizes available, check out the site http://www.elixirstrings.co.uk/bass/ Winners will be contacted on the 23rd June(ish) and the strings will be sent out at the end of June. Please make sure you respond to the PM (private message) quickly if you're successful otherwise another winner will be chosen! We look forward to seeing what you guys think and good luck! ped This pic shows the Elixir Nanoweb coating, around the whole string rather than the wrap. This means the gaps in the wrap are protected. Table showing available sizes and some new additions to the range (all strings are the 'new' formula; the 'new' tag indicates it's a new/updated size being offered) And here's the Elixir logo, just for fun BUT DON'T JUST TAKE MY WORD FOR IT! Here's a word from freelance session player Dan Lutz
19.
Note to Charic: Order plane tickets to Bolivia before Ped realises that we swapped his laptop for an Etch-a-Sketch.
Give me a couple of days to sketch you an answer
20. I'm biased as I used to have a '57 re-issue in shell pink, with white PG and all the ashtrays. I loved it and it looked great in the flesh. I'll see if I can find a pic...
21.
He's mine and you can't have him! Like he'd ever look at you anyway!
I definitely saw him first, anyway it's my forum so I'll just have the last word and delete the database and shut down the server
22. Chaps can we lay off the insults please. I'm sure Chris is flattered by you all arguing over him but let's not be silly.
23. I used my 2x10 as a bedside table at University
24. The best colour combination IMO. Looks beautiful. PM sent RE pics
