  1. I play most of the time at home in my office so I have over the years built a nice little setup in here. Bass goes into a Roland VB99 and GR20, then to my headphones. Output of VB99 goes to a TC BH800 which powers a TecAmp BassBoard which gives me the rumble and feel of being in front of a massive rig without producing much noise at all. The Roland is also connected by USB to my computer so the computer sees it as an audio interface and all the music I play on it comes through my headphones and bass board too. At the time the VB99 was an indulgence but it does everything, any effect I want, even virtual pickups. I can't say enough about it and I still find new things to do with it; I've probably only explored about 50% of it's capability. More often than not, with non Roland pickup equipped basses, I use it as above as a really excellent quality preamp/effects unit. I dare say something like a Helix is a similar idea, without the polyphonic and multi string functions which can only be accessed with a Roland pickup. I love having everything in one box, getting to know it and how to get what you want from it. Plus the form factor means it sits nicely next to my desk and it's at eye level for fiddling 'on the fly' With a four month old baby at home I like knowing I can put my cans on, switch on my system and be in bass nirvana within seconds. Wife is also happy with me being out of the way :)
  2. Normally I like to sell the space to a bass related company like Elixir and Rotosound and the London Bass Guitar Show. The other ads are supplied to fill in the gaps when we don't have a specific ad booked there. I could get rid of them entirely if we had more people subbing, maybe another 50 people a month. Originally they were put in place because we had companies beating our door down asking for them, but the game seems to have changed and I'm finding it hard work filling them myself. Normally I get so far then the company stop responding. So when they're all set up properly, they help keep us afloat. Pop ups were never part of the plan and as I have said in various places many times so far, they will be gone soon. I don't like them any more than anyone else and agree they just put people off.
  3. I'm home and waiting for your call
  4. I don't know if it fits the type of bass you're trying to recreate but how about buying an anodised aluminium plate and ageing that - would probably be easier to scratch up and wear down in places?
  5. All yours are turned off except for getting a PM @mark76 Do you know how to change them, if not I can show you when I get home in an hour or so
  6. @charic has this changed since update? Didn’t think so?
  7. You got me. Ever since 2001 the plan has been to install a Boots pop up ad 🙄
  8. I think you’ve made your point. Install an ad blocker. Luckily the vast majority of the membership are actually reading what I’m posting about it and know that they won’t be here for long and you’ll have to bear with us for a few weeks. Hardly the end of the world, considering how I also have a baby and a job to deal with as well as maintaining, updating and securing a website that’s mostly free to use. You’ve been here since 2009. Is it too much to ask that you give me the benefit of doubt and see the bigger picture for one second?
  9. Can I have a screenshot pls?
  10. In order for the ads to be adjusted to our requirements we need to leave them alone for a while before we can make changes to how they display. Something to do with procuring bids for them by our advertising partner. If they really bother you that much feel free to use an ad blocker.

Detention for Shambo! Not at the moment, the software won’t allow it, just programming in the location field was a massive task. The software might support it one day... Cheers

Thank you Stevie, would you like to collect in the exercise books? 🍎📚
  16. I don't know why people bother with home practice combos - I've never been happy with the sound of them or even if I like the sound I don't like playing them loudly for fear of annoying people, rattling everything in the room or someone hearing me! Also at low volumes I don't like hearing the bass itself (as in acoustically) over the amplified sound. Much better isolation and immersive experience in complete privacy when using a headphone setup.
  17. Thanks very kind of you to think of me. I’ve got a family thing in the way but it could possibly happen on Sunday, just have to wait and see! I’m going to arrange a York bash though at some point.
  18. Something tells me I’ll be returning from said bash with one empty gig bag and a new ‘acoustic’ bass 🤔😂
  19. Think it’s 300 each. Yeah Armstrong makes them so should be easy to copy.
  20. I’m finding the Cobalt flats excellent; plenty of bite when you want it but really controllable with the tone knob. They also have a really thick ‘pop’ sound. Like the feel of them too, not too ‘glassy’ like some I have tried.
  21. Yeah I’m going to try and make it!!
  22. Thanks to @The Bucket for a timely dispatch which fit in just perfectly with my scheme! 🍺 Cheers 🍻
  23. I can do it for you if you send me the pic you want 👍🏻
