1. This is beautiful! If not for the lack of hard case and 'try before you buy' I'd be all over it!
2. Thanks for the comments guys! They're all valued. Since taping this 'prototype' we've started recording a studio version with the rough edges cleaned up a little. I've got another video of the same ilk here as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbb8Ssf-b8E Again, its a little rough (and my singing ability is nothing to envy ) but it's a fun arrangement that makes us both play in ways we wouldn't normally. If anyone is interested to follow us then we have a page set up here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Spectacular-Resurrection-Men/237277743014045
3. Here's a random one.. Jamming on double bass in the woods! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PH85bs3vvWc
4. Both of these are to go, both in great condition. Willing to sell together or split, but the cab is in Chipping Campden and the Head in Chester (they can both be moved to one place or the other with notice though). £300 for both or £150 each I'm still in the process of building my next rig and I'm looking for a good 'somewhat' compact cab to go with a 150TW (Trace Watt ) head. I'll gladly trade for something that fits the bill as this is what the money is for! If you've got anything else cool that you think I might consider.. try me, what's the worst that could happen! Oscar
5. Fun little jam! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxLkPCkbor4
6. Here's a little semi composed-semi improvised piece I play with a violin player. Its not the tightest take ever, we're still cleaning it up round the edges. This one was a fun jam though, enjoy! As always, feedback or comments are welcomed.
7. This will be the single from our upcoming 2012 CD release: Hope you enjoy it! Oscar
8. We've also released another shorter video with a couple of clips from of our more upbeat tracks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edCzxJcwVh0
9. Hey all, my group 'The Bear Beats Band' is releasing our first full length album in the next few months so in anticipation of it we've released a sample of some of the tracks alongside some pictures taken over the last 12 months. I hope you enjoy it, I enjoyed being part of the creation of the music and pictures on it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPF5R9EkgIg Oscar

11. I play one of these as my main bass and love the thing.. couldn't recommend them enough and would definitely have this as a spare if I could afford it! (this is also selling for less than I paid for mine, so it seems like a good deal) All the recordings on the ReverbNation in my sig were done with this exact model of bass.
12. Watched from start to finish. Great vid, thank you

14. I've only really skimmed this thread and looked at a couple of posts per page, but from what I've read it seems to me that the absolute number one most over-rated bass, or bass related product is not an instrument or piece of equipment at all, but the product of reinforced closed minded bigotry and misplaced preconception. Some of the things posted in this thread are ridiculous.. It doesn't apply to most players but there are still plenty out there that need to expand their world view and learn to decentralise! There, that's my contribution to all the distaste going around England today.. had to get it out of my system somehow
15. In Beta I've always used a 4 string tuned down 1 semitone with a small selection of effects, here's the bassic lowdown of what's in my pedal board: Valve drive - just to make everything sound phat and give it a little dirt, I like having a really hot signal too Chorus - I don't use this too much but its good for the spacey or melodic sections, phaser would prob be good too Octaver - Dirtiest, oldest one I could get hold of, can blend original signal with 1 oct down, 2 oct down and 1 oct up, hit this and the walls shake Bassballs - with distortion on its a great 'all guns blazing' effect with one click, or an amazing synthy tone with octave. Without distortion its a nice way to add dynamic and contour to melodic playing and adds a lot of definition to an octaved signal Really though, just see what old dirty junk you can get your hands on and what crazy sounds you can get out out it, then showhorn it into the music. Its a fun genre
16.
A day in the life of a jazz musician.
What's the difference between a Jazz musician and a Blues musician? A Blues musician plays three chords to a thousand people, a Jazz musician plays a thousand chords to three people.

WOMAD!

Just over a week from now I'll be appearing on one of the main stages at WOMAD Festival.. needless to say I can't wait Anyone going? If so, hopefully I'll run into you there. 18. I'm probably not knowledgeable enough about amp circuitry to to pull that off, I think that this is over my head so I've put out a feeler looking for people who can have a look at it around Chester. Hopefully it can be fixed, just a really bad time for it to break when I've got a really big couple of gigs coming up, no money and have to move house in a month too! Typical luck, ha
19.
you've done the obvious of checking the output of the bass and swapping leads?
Yeah, in every combination imaginable
20.
Hi Oscar, That'll be my old combo won't it? Sorry to hear it's developed a problem, it's been a while. Depending on your working knowledge of amps, I'd suggest a look at the circuit board for loose joints. Cheerz, John
Hey, yeah its been amazing up until now and then just anomalously stopped, I've opened it up and had a look and everything looks in order but I'm not enough of an expert to delve deeper though. Here's a little excerpt taken from the desk at a gig in Stratford Upon Avon recently so you can hear how great its been sounding until now though -->> Just For You - The Bear Beats Band Live 2011 <<--
I'd check the area around the modification. It'd only take one wire off around there to create the fault you describe.
Had a look and it looks fine as far as joints, solder etc., I don't know what to look for further than that though.
Hi Oscar, how was it moddified? From your description i got the feeling that you're interrupting the signal going from the power amp to the speaker and sending it to a DI... this isn't healthy to your amp! Another way to take the signal safely from the amp and retaining the amps EQ is to take it out of the headphones socket (some mod is needed to work out the problem of muting the speaker when conncting the jack to the socket) and probably add a boost pedal to this exit if needed... Good luck with the amp, i have a Boxer15 in my room (my first amp) and i won't sell it, it sounds great for such a little thing!
To be honest, I'm not sure as it was modified when I got it, KiOgon might be able to shed some light on the situation though? I think it was modified while he owned it and I just assumed it was for that purpose, perhaps that's the cause of the fault? I'd be grateful if you could elaborate on how/why so that I can avoid potential similar problems in the future. I'll definitely look into the headphone out as a DI source. Thanks for the help so far everyone. Edit: Just tested the headphones out and there's also no volume coming from that
21. Anyone see Bellowhead? They're a great festival band but not seen their glasto performance yet
22. One from a recent radio session.. the contrast really brought out my expression well!
23. Hello, I use a Trace Elliot Boxer 65 as my standard amp for most of the gigging I do and its always done me proud. However at this Fridays gig on switching it on it powered up as normal but made no audible 'pop' from the speaker as it always has done on powering up, and produced no volume on playing through it. The amp worked perfectly on Thursday so the fault must have occurred in transit. It has also been modified to be able to disconnect the head from the speaker so that a DI can be placed after it in order to take an affected signal to the desk, because of this I was able to test the amp by sending a signal to a different cab; this also produced no sound so I assume the problem is with the head. Would anyone be able to inform me of what the problem may be? I love the tone I get from this thing and have some important gigs coming up, I wouldn't want to use anything else! Cheers for any help or advice you can give me, Oscar.
