  1. If I wasnt such a dope with practical stuff, maybe that would be an option. I have tracked down a US alternative but need to price it up with delivery and import duties etc
  2. Addendum: Paul got back to me this morning. Sadly they are no longer making Orange TB tolex cases due to the equipment needed (staple guns have apparently changed size and won't fit in the enclosure any longer)
  3. Edit: need to move on 1 of my 2 Ricks. This OP features my 2019 fireglo 4003 beauty, which weighs a more than acceptable 9.3 9.0 pounds (4.08kg). Jetglo 4003S bass details a few posts down. My 4003 plays very slickly with new 40-100 DR Pure Blues strings installed. Comes with Rick hard case in good used condition. A few minor knocks visible in pics (tip of headstock; rear underside edge; and small [2cm ish] patch of buckle rash, not through the wood) but none visible except very close up. I have been A/B'ing this with my jetglo 4003S and come to the conclusion I marginally prefer the latter due to its carved, rather than slab, body. But this bass has a nicer, slicker neck, so its a toss up really between the two. Collection from SW13 London (south of Hammersmith Bridge) or I can probably sort delivery at cost (will need a packing box, which I don't currently have) with UPS (£25-30?) Sale strongly preferred at this point as I am trying to keep bass collection count down. Also, sorry to our EU brethren (I didn't vote for B...t), its a UK sale only.
  4. Well, given they posted on IG yesterday, they are still going (which is good). Just not responding to my messages to them (not so good!) .... hey ho
  5. Similarly fret buzz doesn’t seem to worry 'classic' bass players. Listen to isolated Chris Squier on something like Roundabout or Heart of the Sunrise and its clanky and buzzy as hell. If I had that sound at home, I would be fiddling around with truss rods etc. Yet it works perfectly for CS as part of ensemble Edit: apols to OP as this is a bit tangential
  6. Um, OK 😑 To the OP: I am a recent convert to Ricks, good luck with your sale, its a beauty!
  7. Top of this thread says Essex, if that helps any?
  8. I think its obvious the weak link in the chain is the Handbox WB-100 all valve amp, so I would do the decent thing and take it off your hands 😁
  9. Emailed last Wednesday and, not getting a reply, Instagram messaged them on Friday and still no reply. They could of course be on hols but just wondered if anyone knew? PS, I was investigating ordering a custom orange tolex head sleeve for an Orange TB500 amp, which I know they have made in the past
  10. Click the three little dots on rhs of your first post and then click Report. This brings up a message box for the moderators. Ask if they would pls move it to the EUB and DB for sale forum and I am sure one of those fine peeps will do so
  11. You will probably get a quicker sale if you move the ad (or redo it) to the EUB and DB for sale forum https://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/76-eubs-double-basses-for-sale/
  12. Mrs C reliably tells me that Prince George loves the song and that's why Rod Stewart was told to sing it (and explains why the BBC kept cutting to Kate and George singing away during the song). Doesn't excuse the performance, mind
  13. Orange amplifiers range from small digital combos, like the Crush 25, to powerful all-valve amps like the AD200B. They tend to sound quite 'traditional' (ie, warm, old school) but I would not say they are best for heavy rock or metal. As I said above, I play blues rock and Americana
  14. I have an Orange Crush 25. Its a nice home amp and has an in-built tuner, which is very useful for quick noodles on the bass. The sound is very warm and coloured. Its almost impossible to get a really clean sound, eg, a Fender Jazz slap type sound. However, I don't need that sound, as I play blues/rock/Americana, so its a good home practice amp for me. I couldn't say how it compares with a small Fender combo as I havent tried them.
  15. Pity the poor people in the ballet section who were completely ignored by the camera in favour of the graphics etc. How hard had they practiced only to be off-camera?
  16. His voice has lost its power and - given his great back catalogue - WTF was he doing singing Sweet Caroline, with which he has zero association? Might just as well have sung Sex on Fire
  17. Agree, she has a strong but very singular voice (as did Nina Simone) and I don't she did the song justice and vice versa
  18. Think he was orchestrating Celeste singing Wonderful World
  19. I wasn't sure - think she was singing along to a pre-recorded version as you could hear her singing at points. TBF she is 78!
  20. OK shortest thread ever. Subsequent acts were just playing to an orchestra. Move along folks, nothing to see here
  21. George Ezra bassist - Wilcock Mullarkey and Shergold Marathon Duran Duran's John Taylor - Dingwall something or other Celeste bassist - Fender (57?) P So far
  22. Great gig at Tuesday Night Music Club in Coulsdon, Surrey this week. Over 2 hours of music was knackering but exhilarating. Fab review plus bass-face photo from Haydn Hart, a TNMC regular: "US Hall of Fame Inductee and multi award winning songwriter, composer and performer Wily Bo Walker gave an astonishing performance at the Tuesday Night Music Club this week. It was such a kind gesture by Wily Bo Walker to give away a CD to every attendee on the night, A CD that had been specially made for the occasion. This was his way of thanking his audience for attending. Such is the measure of this brilliant musician. The band’s performance itself was flawless, with E D Bradshaw giving a masterclass on lead guitar, providing some jaw dropping breaks throughout. Clarky, the consummate bass man. My apologies to the drummer and the keyboard/mandolin player, but I didn’t catch your names……great job though guys. A standing ovation for Wily Bo Walker at the end of a superb evening of live music that spanned the recognised genres giving them new life and making them his own."
  23. I used to have this rig and it would fit the bill nicely. There's one FS (nowt to do with me) on theforum right now
