  1. Withdrawing as a BCer has offered to take a look over the pickup and fix it if necessary
  2. I bought this recently on the forum but it doesn't suit my ply bass. Now my bass is not very resonant, like most ply basses, but it doesn't have much output when I plug into an amp. What I don't know is whether there is an issue with the Realist or whether its simply unsuited to my bass. So I propose that the 'buyer' try this out first and - if it works fine - then pay me. Half new price posted, £90, if it works fine. Sound reasonable? Previous ad (and it looks the same):
  3. Bargainaceous £45 if you take both sets (the LTFs alone would cost £56+ new)
  4. If you would sacrifice 25W and a few features, my rackmount UK made ABM 500 in Gator bag will be up FS shortly (in London) at half that price. Nowt wrong with it, it was a a stopover until my all-valve Hand Box WB-100 was ready (will be in next 1-2 weeks)
  5. Both sets cut for 2+2 headstock (Serek, Gibson) La Bella LTFs, little used, silks still pretty good. Will last years, £28 posted in UK DR Hi-Beams, on bass for all of 5 minutes before I realised I prefer nickel over stainless steel. About as unused as 'used' bass strings can be. £22 posted in UK
  6. The innards have been ready for some time, waiting for the boxes
  7. Hopefully my name is on one of then (not literally obvs)
  8. Mine for good measure
  9. An F-deck pedal or clone like this Rafferty will make a big difference https://reverb.com/item/13880879-rafferty-hpf-pre-2-bass-preamp-adjustable-high-pass-filter-phase-switch-custom-color
  10. According to an (expired) ad on Reverb, this weighs 14kg (just under 31 pounds in old money): "Ashdown has worked in conjunction with Mark King create an amplifier which meets the UK bass legend’s requirements for absolute fidelity and clarity, precision tone shaping and masses of power on tap for stunning dynamics. The result is the AL-MK500, a 575 Watts RMS funk powerhouse with low impedance instrument input, illuminated VU meter, Harmonic Emphasis, 12-band graphic EQ, switchable pre and post EQ balanced DI output, tuner output with mute switch, line output, effects loop and speaker outputs on jack and Speakon connectors. "This amp takes my sound to a whole new level" reports a delighted Mr King. "It's so dynamic, so alive!" 11. If spending over 1k on a new/nearly-new bass I want something pristine!
  12. I had a ponder about that ex demo SG bass but decided against it. In case you are interested, it weighs 7.46 pounds and I have some pictures of the scratch I could send you?
  13. @Ccwg_Bass you were after one of these
  14. Just agreed to buy a PJB mini combo for my double bass from Rhys. Friendly comms and I am sure it will be just the ticket for small gigs and practice. Cheers!
  15. Lovely basses, beautifully assembled, with plenty of low end and growing list of fans. In case you want to hear what one of these sounds like, here is me with my orange Midwestern playing through an Orange TB and Barefaced SuperCompact
  16. Thanks! Ed still plays in the Jawbreakers but is Bo's some-time writing and recording partner and his usual lead guitarist. If you google their albums are under "Wily Bo Walker and ED Brayshaw"
  17. Best chance is to try sending the seller a PM as their profile page says they haven't logged on to BassChat since April 2021
  18. Ink in the Well was my first exposure to DB too, always loved DT's sinuous growly bass line(s) on that song. Orpheus on a later DS album Secrets of the Beehive is also wonderful
  19. Black Vantera
  20. Jay, out of the case its a standard rackmount size (see bottom line):
  21. Adrian bought a rather marvellous archtop Takamine TB-10 bass from me and trusted me to hand over to a pal of his for transport up to the Lake District from London. Top guy. Enjoy!!!
  22. +1 to this suggestion. I have seen a ton of jazz bassists use MarkBass gear (eg, back line at the Jazz Cafe) and for trio/quartets this combo is very popular. Good with DB (use a preamp in front for impedance matching and feedback control) and for electric bass.
