1. Sorry, already in another thread - and yeah its bollix! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/159160-best-bassline-of-all-time/
2. Closely followed by White Stripes' 'One Nation Army'
3. We have a new single coming on Wednesday 2nd November to mark 'Day of the Dead', called 'Who do you love?' Its much more bum-shaking and funky than our previous material and as soon as its available I will post a link here. For now, as a taster, here is the artwork
4. The car is costing me more than I thought - plus got hit with an unexpected back tax bill - so these are back up FS I won't keep bumping these every day as I am not expecting buying interest in the current market. But if anyone stumbles across this thread they will see that the basses are available. May also try eBay
5. Another local bump - surprised this hasn't gone as it's probably the most powerful yet lightweight cab FS on BassChat right now
6. Bass sounds good to me too. Nice work
7. wow, looks awesome - Mr Foxen would probably describe that as serious doom
8. Isn't that just a trick of the slightly upwards angle of the photo? Its exactly along the top edge of the board (there's no binding as evidenced by G board edge). He is bending the A slightly away from the E so the gap looks artificially large
9.
The Om Riff!
all yours: http://video.mail.ru/mail/alexin_spb/1000/1007.html
10. Wasn't it Tommy Vance's signature theme on R1? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWcJ7WeAK78
11. And my other fave, also on the same album, was Pilgrims - so melodic and lovely http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaIT3CFRaf4
12. Oooh, I LOVED Van der Graaf Generator back in the day. My favourite was always Still Life, which I still nerdishly know all the lyrics to some 30-odd years after hearing it first! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYBifGynf6g
13. In response to a request on the Hawkwind thread, how's about an appreciation thread for Gong, Steve Hillage, Daevid Allen's bands and their multiple spin-offs? I know silddx will be in like flynn here! So to get things going, here's Steve Hillage with the Salmon Song and Gong's Flying Teapot (MIke Howlett on bass IIRC) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24NQR8gRqXY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfd4c2xDOUE
14.
Yes, but he really should have sacked his hairdresser ...
Jealousy!
15. Just checked your profile, GW, to discover you were born in '61. So how about a Y-O-B Fender P, like this one, but hopefully at a lower price point: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1961-Fender-Precision-Bass-Sunburst-/370538184521
16. Gus? http://www.gusguitars.com/product.php?model_id=6
17. Sounds like BigRedX's fave squeeze? Dammit, can't remember name but someone will jump in here ...
18. here's my Alleva, you will not find a better Jazz IMHO (and that of Happy Jack, and apparently even Jimmy C considers this one of his finest, according to lozbass - who took this pic and has the other final hand-made bass from the NYC shop)
19. I have Pyramid Gold flats on my 63P and they are very soft compared to Chromes or La Bellas - they feel like they've been worn in for years immediately out of the packet. Very deep and thumpy (think Motown/Jamerson sonically) and completely unslappable. Only problem is that the E string is hit-or-miss in my experience, sometimes being deader than a dodo
20. But seriously, buy a nice vintage pre-CBS Fender as prices have likely come down and enjoy playing it at home (you have enough gigging basses) and long-term price appreciation too
21. Was it you that nicked my car?
22. Beats working in an office for a living though
23. For various reasons (band illnesses, recording etc) there will only be one more Rattlin Bone gig this year. Should be a good'un though. Its on Saturday 17 December at Jamboree in Limehouse, London and the headline act will be Joe Black, "the king of cabaret noir" http://misterjoeblack.com/ Here's the flyer
24. As MB1 would say, a local bump!
25. Its known as a Clutterbuck-off
