1. I presume this is the bass, at the Gallery? Amazing wood top http://www.thebassga...e=Bass%20Guitar
2.
i've never made the long journey but i know from the forum that bass merchant is held in high esteem. so sad, but all the best for the future.
+1 on all counts
3. My (ex-Rick) '53 Relic, based on a '51 RI but revamped/refinished/re-spec'd
4. Sold pending the usual to Sam
5. I have a barely used and vgc Demeter Compulator compressor. Since I am looking to recoup some unplanned outgoings, this is non-essential and so can go. Based on previous sale prices a posted price ( in UK) of £100 sounds fair to me. A quick google suggested these are £169 new, without postage.
6. Thats in fab condition and a real looker Nick. I personally prefer tort on natural, liek George Porter Jnr's ... only less mojo'd/funk'd! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9A6-gWQM8s
7.
Having dropped a bunch of weight this year (eating less & exercising more, incredibly) here's me at soundcheck yesterday. Say it with flowers!
Tim, you are virtually half the man I saw at the Half Moon in Putney ... in a good way!
8. I've emailed about a half a dozen times to his management team (you can't send CDs) with an array of attention-grabbing titles (eg, Top-rated UK voodoo swamp blues band with zombie clowns, what's not to like?). Heard nada back. I suspect you neeed promoters behind you to do some palm-greasing
9.
That was nice.
and £1500 IIRC, whereas my '53 Relic is £750
10. Thats a lovely bass Rich(ardd) and the guys above seem bang on to me. OT but great to see you back on the forum, other Rich (OTPJ)
11. My '63 P (year of birth and all that). Since this picture has had a period-correct celluloid tort pickguard added
12. Thanks Keith! It does need good speakers to really 'feel' the bass and the brass section
13. I don't play it but we have a sousaphone player in our band I can put you in touch with if you wanted to pursue this? He plays for my lot, Rattlin Bone, plus the Top Bananas, the UK's only stilts-wearing brass band (true) Here he is in 70s disco garb
14. You cynic, Machines! One has a transfer of Tony Butler's name and the other doesn't. Big difference
15. Its out! If you click on the link to our website here there is a free player so you can take a listen. Its more funky than our usual stuff and has a really earth-shattering double bass sound, IMHO http://rattlinbone.com/2011/who-do-you-love-2/ Background: "Who Do You Love?" was originally written and recorded in 1956 by Bo Diddley. Rolling Stone magazine ranked the song as #132 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time on December 9, 2004. The song was given a Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 2010.

How much?
How much would you say is a reasonable price for a Fender CIJ Fretless Jazz 62 re-issue? It's in incredible condition. Just a few marks on the neck from using roundwound strings.
IIRC I have seen these go generally in the £400-500 range depending on condition etc. Right now, the market is rubbish so probably £400-450 is about right. One BCer has been trying to sell one of these (with an added preamp) for close to £500 for some time now with no joy
17. "Dear John, I have just dropped around five grand on the theft of my car and an unexpected tax demand. I am trying to raise money not spend it, hence two gorgeous basses for sale in my link. Therefore you will have to find somebody else to buy your very pretty DD bass. Yours sincerely, Clarky"
18. Thats a serious bargain at £600 for one of the nicest Jazz basses I have ever played
19.
I'm sure Clarky won't mind if I borrow his thread
Not in the least mate. Its a very DB-like vibe and looks great IMHO, very gypsy-jazz/Maccaferri/Selmer-like. Best of luck with the sale, Chris
20. Going to take a guess that Andrew briefly thought about selling his Yamaha TRB5 and then quickly relented
21. Speaking of which Master of Puppets is always a good pick-up-bass-and-have-some-fun line
22. In case oldslapper doesn't buy this, I can add that I was the original owner and its a truly lovely Jazz with the very best of Fender QC. The buyer will not be disappointed with this
23. If we're talking lines I love to just casually pick up my bass and noodle along to, then The Magnificent Seven by the Clash, Stagger Lee by Nick Cave, and Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding probably top my list.
24.
Do they have a bass player?
It was meant to be a joke
25.
I think it sounds more like a Fender with mutes under the strings than an upright.
+1, really doesn't sound at all like a double bass to my ears. There's no woodyness or growl, its all thump
