1. Just checked, he does indeed have an SLB100 listed as FS/FT in his sig
2. Jamerson asked the same question, I beileve
3. IIRC Mr Bassman (Keith) has an SLB for sale in his signature
4. Love old Fenders but hate having to take the neck off every time the truss rod needs a tweak. Such a design flaw
5. Before my current band (I can only carry one upright bass!), I only ever took one bass with me as I tended to play sh*t-holes with between 10-50 people in the audience with my punk band and, before that, in my metal band I only had one bass* * This was obviously before I joined BassChat
6. Thanks John! I much prefer Midnight Walk, both musically and performance-wise (as I had never recorded fretless before, so am quite proud of that), but I gather from Karena that the radios stations etc are pretty keen on Temptation Eyes.
7.
bass needs to be higher in the mix. way higher
Wasn't mixed by me! Otherwise it would have been higher
8. The lady single in Rattlin Bone, Karena Kelly, has a second single out on 12th December. Again featuring yours truly on bass, its my first attempt at Northern Soul. Recorded with my '63 Precision. Also features some top quality musicians (trombone and trumpet- Danny Flam, saxes- Ron Bertolet, Guitar and Organ- Ed Brayshaw) and produced by RB front man Wily Bo Walker. 9.
BC'er and pro DB player Gareth Hughes is very happy with his Thomann bass. If you drop him a PM I am sure he will be happy to point you in the direction of the model he has, which cost well under £1000
I found the post Gareth wrote about the Thomann bass - see #3 in this thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/160774-wanted-affordable-34-double-bass/page__p__1444202#entry1444202
10. This is a relatively cheap option - the Nikki Sixx Thunderbird £249 at DV247 http://www.dv247.com/guitars/epiphone-nikki-sixx-blackbird-bass-guitar-pitch-black--42168
11. Where is MacDaddy when you need him?
12. Well I watched the Sky+ playback and - sorry to say - I didn't spot any swing jazz band Was it the programme with the lady serving up 'posh' fish 'n chips who literally and metaphorically had a huge chip on her shoulder?
13. A white Hamer Explorer for full on 80s Def Leppard-ishness
14. Explorer type bass - Def Leppard Thunderbird - UFO Fender P - Iron Maiden Fender Jazz - Judas Priest
15.
16. Have a good'un Nige. Was good to catch up recently and I will get to see you swinging those flares live one day - this Saturday its a pre-Xmas 'do' though
17.
Hi attackbass I if you do a search on Thomann basses you will find that there are some pros that have had good experiences with the Thomann basses on this forum.
BC'er and pro DB player Gareth Hughes is very happy with his Thomann bass. If you drop him a PM I am sure he will be happy to point you in the direction of the model he has, which cost well under £1000
18. [sup]Its sold already. I did have pangs about buying it back but not enough funds currently[/sup]
19. Beautiful, Nick. Good luck with the sale mate. I take it the opportunity is large and DB-shaped?
20. Christophe bought my Alleva LG4. He was very straight and above-board in all his dealings. Lots of communication from France, even though English is not his mother tongue, and he even drafted a detailed bill of sale for us both to sign. Very trustworthy guy and I recommend him should he ever buy or sell again through BassChat.
21. Now that I'm down to 3 basses (assuming we aren't including uprights), having been up to 6 a short while ago, its time to update my vote here and resuscitate this thread
22. Playing my first DB gig with Rattlin Bone, to a big and appreciative crowd .... never having played DB live before and having broken my left hand in a couple of places only 17 days before. To get through the gig, and to see people dancing and smiling throughout, was just such an incredible buzz
23. Chris Horton has had an Items Wanted thread going for quite a few weeks, looking for a UL210 8 ohm - I would drop him a PM
24. This would be cool http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OZARK-ELECTRO-ACOUSTIC-RESONATOR-FRETLESS-BASS-GUITAR-JAH-1114-/350512304468?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item519c295154
