1.
Another Clarky/Beedster deal. Yeah I know .......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Ditto zzzzzzzz
2. Should be OK sounding. Ask PTB, he has several years of playing with this combo, mine is a relatively recent acquisition. better still just bring your bass to the shop and plug in!
3. Then its gets more expensive. This is getting good reviews on Talkbass. Its from UK based Headway (£255 at BassDirect) http://www.headwaymusicaudio.com/product/edb-2/ Do you really need two pickups?
4.
Hi Clarky, Okay great suggestions, I can't find the preamp that you mentioned though, have you got a link?
Fishman Platinum Pro bass EQ http://www.dv247.com...tic-bass--43699 Steve has one for sale on the forum http://basschat.co.u...-pro-eq-preamp/ There are other preamp options (you own one of them, although it doesn't have a phase switch) eg from LR Baggs and the very simple Fdeck (which you have to get sent from the US by a friendly TalkBass'er). The PlatPro is very easy to get hold of though and liked by many
5. A few answers. You can (1) plug straight into the jack socket (with or without a preamp, like a PlatPro) which obviously utilises the EQ of the combo or (2) into the effects send/return circuit which bypasses the combo's EQ section (if you wanted only to use an external preamp for EQ). Its most useful in my opinion to go with a preamp into the jack socket as the preamp can do things the combo can't (eg, my PlatPro has a high pass filter to cut boom and a phase switch wich is useful for fighting feedback) and combining the two EQ sections gives you huge tonal flexibility The VLE and VPF filters respectively (1) progressively roll off treble and (2) scoop mids in favour of treble/bass, so they are almost an EQ section on their own and allow even more flexibility
6. Ok, Simon, 12 pounds rules me a long way out (I sold a lovely Alembic Spoiler as 11 pounds was too much for my glass back). Shame as its a lovely thing and doubtless sounds amazing. Well there's another bump for you!
7. Cliff bought a Sansamp pedal off me. Everything tickety-boo, fast payment, friendly comms etc. All good!
8. Chris, sorry mate but aren't you losing sight of why you started this thread? Worries over turning a bass into matchwood and all that. I can only imagine how nervous you would be with a £4k+ beauty like that Roth & Junius if strapped to roof of car or young daughter decides to try to push it off its stand .... You can buy a damn good bass for way less than that. I believe you are developing a case of GAS that needs deflating by the wise words of a regular BC trading partner, ie, me!
9. Chris bought some flat wound strings off me. Friendly straightforward deal with good comms and fast payment. All good
10. No longer available
11. On reflection, silly move. WIthdrawing this
12. I also have a John Goldsby's 'Jazz Bass' book (vgc but don't have the time to work through it) http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Jazz-Bass-Book-Technique/dp/0879307161 plus a spare Ray Brown double bass tutor book (slightly worn but perfectly usable). Together a great prize for an aspiring DB'er
13. Sold, thanks for the interest and sorry to those who missed out
14. I have had a PM about this pedal, so it may be sold
15. Given I think I am doing a [s]master[/s]class on "Making the transition to double bass & what you need to start gigging" (or something along those lines) I will be bringing a 3/4 double bass, a MarkBass Mini CMD 121P amp, and possibly also my Ampeg Baby Bass

17. Wowzer. Thats truly a work of art. Many congrats!
18. Sorry, not looking for trades as I'm slimming down my pile of gear!
19. Tom bought a set of DB strings off me. Excellent transaction, as per his previous feedback. Straightforward, quick to pay, good comms, cannot be faulted! Nice one, matey
20.
New price? I thought they were discontinued.
Well Absolute are showing 1 in stock. Maybe its the last one?!
21. Piccie here
22. I've had a PM about posting outside the UK but - after a quick search - its silly expensive (about £30). So this is UK only, apologies to our non-UK fraternity
23. I got this from longstanding forumite (and good bloke) dave_bass5 about six months ago. I thought it would work with my double basses as well as my electric bass, due to the parametric mid control, but truth is I can't get it to work particularly well with the former (its undeniably fab with my Jazz bass). I am moving it on in favour of a PlatPro for my DBs. Its in excellent nick in the Tech21 tin still with instruction sheet. I paid Dave £110 for it and am asking the same posted. Best new price is £203 at Absolute Music http://www.absolutem...CFfLHtAodbF8AUw
24. Gareth (aka smaz) bought my Fender A/E fretless bass. Very friendly comms, fast payment and a nice guy too (had a quick chat at Waterloo Station for handover). Hope you have many happy hours together and welcome to the forum
25. BTW, I have always wondered if you are Brian Eno in disguise
