1. damn nice! if i decide to sell my Attitude and this is still up for grabs i'd defo be interested... meanwhile have a bump! peace c
2. that Mark Radcliffe 'First Love' programme was pretty good I thought - he was so chuffed at the end bless him! I know a few people who 'made it' - Justin Hawkins from The Darkness of course was from my town and used to knock about the local venues with various bands. Four guys I went to school with formed a band then when we were all about 16 - they stuck at it for years, gigging constantly and finally got signed after significantly changing their sound to get on the latest bandwagon. They continued on for some years with a couple of albums out and club level gigs before having a major top 10 single and album followed by massive world tours/festivals/top of the pops etc etc and a couple of lesser hits. However their follow up album got severely delayed by record company buy outs etc meaning they had to go out and get day jobs to make ends meet! By the time it did eventually get released things had moved on and they didn't get any airplay and disbanded soon after so its not all great! Having said that most of them have continued in the music business as producers etc and they still reform from time to time for odd gigs and smaller tours. At the ripe old age of 40 I'm currently playing in a blues/rock originals band which is going pretty well based on the singer/guitarist having some good connections. Its early days but we've already done some decent supports and have got tours etc coming up and while of course we're never gonna be the next big thing I'm really enjoying it and hopefully it'll keep going onwards and upwards. peace c
3. this is FEELER ONLY for trades at the moment as I'm pretty skint and if I sell it for cash I know the money will just disappear!! Having said that, if you want to make me an offer then please feel free! Also, I know i'll regret getting shot of this one as its an awesome instrument but it really doesn't get used anymore with the kind of stuff i'm playing this days. anyways - Yamaha Attitude Ltd 1 in Blue - I believe there were only 150 made in this colour. Seem to be appreciating in value lately, theres a couple on eBay for over a grand. Its in very good condition all over with the only ding of any consequence being a small dent on the bass side of the neck (I'll do a close up pic of that when I get the chance - nothing to worry about though!) - also the split pickup is a bit worn away under the E string. It comes in the original brown Yamaha hardcase with original owners manual and swing tag. Action is low and it plays/sounds/looks fantastic! Trade wise, I'm after an old Fender Precision (ideally with a Jazz Bass neck but this is not a deal breaker!) - doesn't matter if its refinished, reliced, has non original parts etc as long as I like the look of it and it plays/sound good with low action etc. Would consider a Nash or other similar decent relic job or possibly even something like a Lakland Duck Dunn or similar. If extra bit of cash is needed either way then thats fine. Cash offers possibly considered now too. Bit of a longshot I guess but hey, you never know... so.. what have you got?!!! Cash offers possibly considered now too. cheers c
4. yep - agreed.. sterling work! peace c
5. maybe a little busy yeah, but overall i quite like it - he can clearly play and is enjoying himself! peace c
6.
Im sure we could help you too
haha.. i'm sure you could! cheers c
7. I won't name and shame yet although I got an annoyingly vague response to my email of yesterday: 'It is sorted, outputs transistor blew. It should be back here soon and out to you' I don't want to be hearing vague 'should' and 'soon' - I want a definite date, and if it is actually sorted what is the delay getting it back to me?! Why is it just sitting there? and why did he not get in touch with me to tell me its all sorted? i'm awaiting a further reply on the above, but am starting to get a bit annoyed now. So sod it, its BassDirect. cheers c
8. Six weeks ago I bought a secondhand bass head from a shop who always gets good feedback on here. Upon delivery the amp (which although secondhand looked immaculate - original box, footswitch still in original packaging etc) didn't work. The shop arranged for it to be returned no problem and promised to get their repair guy to look at it. However, the shop was then closed for holidays for a week, then (apparently!) the repair guy was on his holidays for two weeks. I got an email last week saying they'd found the problem 'It was a power supply that had gone, it is being sorted now, I will let you how quickly we can get this back to you' but no word since and I am still waiting to get the head back. My current rig is useable but the preamp sporadically makes a buzzing noise which can be noticeable on some of the quieter songs which is why I splashed out on this 'new' amp in the first place (admittedly i've wanted a change for a while). I've got some quite important gigs coming up in the next few weeks including a small tour and it looks like I'm gonna have to use a borrowed head for the time being which I don't really like doing. I think I've been pretty patient with them on this.. six weeks does seem like a long time.. or is it just me?! Not sure of the point in this post!! Just a minor rant I guess!!! Aaaargh!! and I've got a headache! peace c
9.
Primus -John The Fisherman
ah yes.. forgot about that one! class!
10. I'm currently starting to get a pedalboard together, already have a couple of things (Akai Unibass and EH Bassballs USA) but am looking for a few more so it'd be nice to have some recommendations from pedal buffs on here.. so recommendations for: chorus pedal delay pedal synth pedal loopstation type thing (though will prob go with rc20xl on this as had one before) power brick can't afford anything ridiculously pricey but do prefer the look/vibe of boutique pedals over bog standard boss stuff... cheers c
11. yeah may be up for this, though cambridge is still a bit of a hike from here.. do it in norwich!!!
12. i agree that MA's playing is very good and underated - i was briefly doing a Van Halen tribute thing a while back and if you listen to a lot of his basswork properly theres more going on than initially meets the eye (or ear!) Fair Warning album in particular has some very nice bits going on in places. His backing vox too are also very good. I seem to remember reading somewhere that Sheehan was approached to replace MA when Van Halen reformed recently but declined because of his friendship with him. c

SOLD

always thought these were very nice looking basses so have a bump on me - but please... cut your toenails!!!! ew!!!!! c
14. hmmm still waiting on the amp and now i get this regarding the amp tech: My normal guy injured himself a few weeks ago and nearly died. I have another guy who is great but did not tell me he was going away! Anyway, he is coming in on Thursday to pickup your amp. I am sorry for the delay but am doing my best to get it sorted. I hope you understand ;-) of course if the repair guy has been away for two weeks he's gonna have two weeks worth of work to catch up on before he gets round to looking at my amp i'm guessing!! bah. c
15.
I haven't seen any acknowledgement and addressal of the missing end of last month's RHT/WB/NM interview either. Standards and content quality are slipping again I think.
yeah the end of that interview being missing annoyed me as it was, i thought, one of the most interesting things in the mag for a long time. also totally agree about the monthly column from the bass institute (or whatever) student and the 2 pages of brief interviews with the 'nobodies' are kinda pointless as they are all pretty much the same. i remember reading one a while back who (i think genuinel)y said he hadn't even got an amp because he couldn't afford one!! hardly the kind of bassist to be taking tips and advice from? i do still prefer a 'hard copy' magazine over an internet forum though. peace c

touring

did four nights in a row in june which is kinda a mini tour! - was good - not done it in a long while and looking forward to doing it again in October for a slightly longer stint. 4 men in 1 travelodge room is not pretty but it beats sleeping in the vehicle and its all paid for along with food. Really nice not to have to drive myself to the gigs too! c
17.
I was really thinking they were going to be great. I love both JPJ and Grohl. Instead the album was listened to once and forgotten about.
yep..same here - in fact it didn't even get put back on the ipod after the great crash of 2010!! c
18. them crooked vultures, to me at least are not in the remotest bit super! - just cannot get on with josh hommes constantly droney vocals chickenfoot.. quite good polished american rock but nothing remotely new about it. both pretty much 'meh' peace c
19. no not Music Ground.. in fact a shop that I thought had a good reputation. Last Friday I emailed to see what the score was and was told 'I am just waiting on my repair guy to get back to me' I give it a week, and email again today (now over 3 weeks since initially receiving amp) and got this reply: 'My repair guy has been on holiday for the past couple of weeks I am afraid, I will check again this weekend with him.' Didn't think to mention to me before to me that the repair guy was on holiday for two weeks?! hmmmmmm.... peace c
20. hmmm just wondering peoples thoughts on this.. My current bass head has been making funny noises lately so I recently bought online a pre-owned well known brand/reasonably pricey bass head from a reputable/established dealer. Trouble is, when it arrived, it didn't work!! The shop I got it from was fine about it assuring me they had tested it etc and fair enough they arranged painlessly for it to be collected for return to them so their repair guy could have a look at it. Trouble is, that was over 3 weeks ago now and its still not been sorted out. I think now I'd like my money back so I can go and buy something else as I'm gigging regularly and need a new amp pronto (I paid on credit card) Where do I stand on this...? thoughts people..? peace c
21. D.C. Thompson seem to be well on the case with this!!.. there was a band from round here called The Bash Street Kids who started doing reasonably well back in the early nineties and they got told to change their name too. c
22. Yep.. Norman is very good indeed. Although maybe the sweatiest man alive one he gets onstage!!! I wonder did his solo album ever get finished/released - I know he was working on one a couple of years back.... peace c
