Nice. Is it improvised or composed?

Lets rehearse at gig volume, I'll be OK, I'm wearing my ear plugs. Kind of defeating the object of rehearsing that loud with the plugs attenuating the sound. Drummers should be able to play quiet too.

The repertoire is well over 100 songs. I've also played on cruise ships where the songs are called out as you go along, you're just given two books with all the charts in. It depends I guess on your gig. There's a photo I found last time this kind of thread came up, it showed the James Brown horn section on stage complete with music stands.

I do lots of solo gigs. So far this year I've done ten, including a couple in Paris and one with Steve Lawson. I've got two more later this month, one in Bath and one in Bristol. I much prefer them to normal band gigs, much more satisfying.

I did a solo gig in a church in Birmingham city centre last year, it was a Friday lunchtime, part of a regular series, so there's always a good audience, people on their lunch break etc. I was sat on a stool at the front, people were sat on seats, the closest row about 4 metres from me. For one guy that wasn't close enough, he walked up and stood literally half a metre from me. After I'd finished one piece, he started talking to me about what I was fldoing and my music etc. Really nice and I appreciated him liking what I was doing, but he was just oblivious to the fact I was performing.

[/quote] I'm just curious. I can maybe understand the guitarists tuning down, so they can keep the same shape of chord. It would really cause me problems though, tuning my bass down. I'd be mentally transposing the line, so would end up making a complete mess of it.

Are you playing real book standards? I don't see why you'd rehearse those tbh. It's improvised, so the idea is that they're not played the same each time anyway. I play a whole lot of that stuff, if there's anything unfamiliar on the set list then I run through it a few times at home. This is what I suggest your guys do too.

The John Patitucci model is really excellent, but I prefer the through-necked TRB6P. I used to own a very early one in red, bought off a guy on here, and now owned by Kevin Glasgow. I just prefer thru-necked instruments.

It's the mids that give clarity to your sound, and will enable it to be heard. The whole band turning down a notch or 2 can help in boomy rooms too.

I was just really after another pedal with a 'different flavour' I guess.

Must be a small pedal though. I've considered the Line 6 DL4 and the Memory man, but they're a little too big really. I'm looking to keep the size down. I've already got a Flashback that's great, but I want another delay to go after that, and my reverbs, the idea being that the phrase that's being reversed is the processed sound from them. I should say that I don't lie Boss pedals, so that discounts the DD7. Any suggestions would be most welcome .
