If you want a high F the only one possible is the pyramid .020 nickel flatwound, it's perfect on a 34" scale, more tension but I use it with chromes or rounds and I lower the action to compensate in this case.
Thanks, tbh I've kind of given up on flats for it. I've spent I don't know how much experimenting on different strings for the high F. For normal round wounds there's no problem at all, lots of choice. There is a company in America that I've found will make me a set, but they're in the process of moving and have quite a backlog of orders already,

It does take a little adjustment. I spend an hour or two each week practicing sight-reading treble clef melody lines from my real books. I haven't had much time this last couple of weeks though. Yesterday I was teaching one of my students and we were playing some Frank Sinatra melodies, I struggled . When I was at uni in Years 2 and 3 we had to do a lot of orchestral stuff, so I was switching between treble clef, bass clef and alto clef, I used to get totally confused.
So... Photobucket seems to have stopped letting me share images, that's new... Imgur it is from now on then.
What wood is that?
Luckily, Ambient comes across as a good guy. Can't see him scoring out Agadoo as a cruel joke!!
I'd never do such a thing .

Confidence with your abilities or in general? I had problems with both during uni. I have Aspergers which was the cause. If music is what you enjoy doing, you don't necessarily have to play in a band. Maybe explore writing and recording your own stuff? Alternately advertise and start your own, doesn't need to be a full band to start with, just jam with a guitarist and take it from there.

If you can let me know how much of the song, I'm guessing just an excerpt? I can do it in Sibelius.

A friend of mine has successfully toured the world with jazz guitar supremo Martin Taylor playing an old Aria semi-acoustic bass. I've absolutely no idea what model it is, but to does sound very pleasing, and Martin Taylor must like it.

He's on Facebook, try messaging him on there?

GAS & poverty. What a crock of ****

A bass is just a tool. You'll still sound like you regardless of whether you're playing a £150 instrument or a £1500 instrument. I did an unexpected dep gig last year, my own bass was in having some work done on it. I borrowed the drummer's £70 Aria fitted with strings that were last changed about the time that invites were being sent out to the last supper. -
Your looking for a loop pedal with trails. Something like this would do: http://www.brightoni.../trails-looper/ What delay are you using? Quite a few of them have trails as an option.
TC electronic Flashback. I wasn't sure if the sound still coming from the Flashback would carry on outwards, or is it just the input signal that you're bypassing?
-
I'm a total technophobe, so excuse my ignorance here . I have quite a few pedals on my pedal board, the most important one is my delay pedal, I use a very long delay as a kind of looper, I like the way the 'loops' gradually fade. I'm looking for a pedal that will allow me to bypass the delay pedal, but I still want what is coming out of it to carry on through to my amp/PA. Would the LS2 enable me to do this? Or is there a better alternative?

If I examine the kind of music I've been listening to over the past 5-10 years it is not guitar centered at all. The truth is, for me at least, virtually none of the new exciting sounds in music are coming from guitar players. And if does, they are guitarists that so brilliantly disguise the source of their sounds you'd never know or think "guitar"
Hmm... Not sure if buying a strap, albeit a vegan vinyl strap, from a company specialising in leather goods is in the spirit and ethos of vegan..? The Californian Couch straps look to be about as vegan as they come. Worth inquiring as to availability, for those interested in cruelty-free, no sweat-shop, vegan products, maybe..? Not bothered, myself; just sayin'.
I agree. I like the recycling aspect of what they do too.
Couch straps are vegan and I have several, mostly made from old car seats from classic American cars. https://www.couchguitarstraps.com/
Thanks! They look superb, and I like the recycling aspect too.
sometimes you just have to admit that nothing beats leather for such things
To an extent I do agree with you. Though surely by now you'd have thought they'd have invented an alternative.
Take a look at the Gruvgear solostrap neo. expensive but good and animal parts free
Yes! Excellent, thanks. Faux leather . http://www.gruvgear.com/solostrap-neo
Plenty of fabric/webbing straps available. Try Google. Or have one made? If you can afford a custom 7 string, I should imagine money isn't an issue.
Problem with webbing is they squash up. I got the bass used and had to sell pretty much everything to buy it. Thanks though.

I'm looking for a new strap. I'm vegan, so would prefer not to have anything made of leather, and I don't like neotech straps, they're too stretchy and bouncy. It needs to be quite wide and padded, I play a rather heavy 7 string bass, it's something like 6.5kg. A lot of straps have the main part made of something animal friendly, but still have leather ends where the strap locks go. Any other vegan bassists?
I've had one of these for a couple of years: https://totalsounds....uck-p-4336.html Compact and sturdy. Means that I can travel on buses and trains with a full gigging rig. Highly recommended.
That looks great.

Gizmodrome - Stewart Copeland, Adrian Belew, Mark King
ambient replied to Kevin Dean's topic in General Discussion
It'd be great if it was Adrian Belew, Stewart Copeland and a bass player who wasn't Mark King.
