I think if it's refinished, it's no longer original (just like the stripped condition it's in) so therefore colour would have no effect on price. I'd go for a non Fender colour. Maybe British Racing Green with a Mustard pick guard?

It might go the opposite way around? Whereas Germany & Brazil have the best footballers, they might produce the fewest amount of great bassists, England being better, then Scotland better again & the most being from America & India (& other countries that aren't known for any good footballers). It makes sense to me. I'd rather play bass than kick a bag of wind around. Edited just to say, I bet America's got better footballers than Scotland? Moves Scotland up in the bass rankings!

I got my board from the Flightcase Warehouse. It's basically a decent flightcase with the shallow side to the bottom & a piece of ply painted black & some velcro supplied with it. I got some heavy duty velcro from hobbycraft, popped a couple of smallish feet on the top edge of the "board" so it leans & I can hide wires under it, then I got a couple of wooden kitchen door handles & put one either side of the board (they match the moog ends). As for pedals, do you know what fx do what? That's not meant to be a cheeky Q, just that if you don't then I would suggest getting a multi FX to play about with & see what fx you like, then you can decide if two distortions are needed & if you're gonna use a compressor. If you do know what fx do what, then the Ashdown Hyperdrive & the MXR Blowtorch are both worth a look as far as O\Ds go. Compressors, I used an EHX White Finger for a couple of tracks in the studio & thought it sounded decent enough but not something I would use live. Couldn't advise on a tuner, I use PolyTune on the iphone before a gig & any tune ups are done by ear.

I've never tried (or heard) the 121, but I dare say from other reports it'll see you proud. There's always the option to add the 12" cab if you really needed it & get the singer to carry it

Oops, I thought it was a swap I started playing bass when I was not much older than him. My first bass was a Vox Standard & they weigh about the same as an 8x10. I wouldn't restrict it to lightweight basses (they're really for us oldies with bad backs ) as there's many good starter instruments that although not lightweight, will be much lighter than my Vox. Kids are a lot stronger than you're giving them credit for Have a look at Ibanez. Fairly light basses & excellent value for money.

I think that would be holding down a groove. if you can play all the Jaco solos on your own but have no sense of timing when the band are playing, then I think that's classed as no good.

I mainly use my fingers, but we have a few songs where the more aggressive sound from a pick is required. So I'll use whatever I need to get the job done as long as it sounds right in the mix.

That's a bit pointless! Though if the 515 is a min 4Ω load, you could use 2 8Ω cabs (but isn't that the point of adding an ext cab?).

If you practice & practice until you can play whatever songs you've been practising to a good level, then you have talent. If you practice & practice until you can't play whatever songs you've been practising any more & are still crap, then you have no talent.

Add another 1x15 cab (make sure it's 8 ohm & try & get the matching one). Pros = more sound Easier to hear yourself Cons = more to carry I think the pros outwiegh the cons

What about a Barefaced cab? If I was looking for a cab or two, they'd be on my list. (Alex, what's the commision rate )

Would it be possible to tier your boards? You could make a good solid stand that goes along each side & the back of the bottom of the upper board. I'm full of great ideas me!

As Flyfisher says, in the good ole days a tape sent recorded to yourself & never opened unless needed in court was the way to go. Nowadays it's much easier. Stick it on YouTube/Flickr/Myspace/Whatever & it should have an "Uploaded" date. Negates the "you could have set a different date on your PC" argument (unless there's a hack for tinterweb dates).

PJB use 6" drivers in their cabs & don't struggle for bass. Also have a look at what Bill Fitzmaurice does with 10" drivers if you don't believe just one cab designer/builder on here (that's Alex). In olden days, 4x10s & 1x18s had more bass mainly because they used a bigger cab than a 2x10. Nowadays you'll get just as much bass from a well designed 2x10 or 2x12 & better dispersion (if put vertically).

Very nice. I'd love a couple of hours just playing about making sounds! I think the old Roland System 700 was less complex than your board(s).

But the problem with the so called "perfect stack", is snake oil. A 4x10 will have a much narrower dispertion as there are vertically aligned drivers pushing soundwaves against each other & adding a different sized driver just adds another problem with different sized soundwaves bouncing off one another. One venue it'll sound great & then another venue with the same settings will sound awful. Keeping all the same sized drivers means you'll get a more consistent sound & stacking them vertically means you'll get a much better dispertion (there's several topics on mixing cabs already). +1 on going to a store. -1 on listening to their "technical" knowledge/sales patter.
