1. i used to use a behringer rack eq going into the front of my terror bass to give the eq a bit of help, worked just fine. andy
2.
Agre, OTB is a great little amp, plenty of power, great warm tone but to get any flexibility pedals most likely needed.
totally agree my 1000 is a awesome place to start but to change the flavour it needs a few pedals put in front, but you could also try an eq pedal that might give you a bit more variation. but if you want the gk sound probs best to stick with the 550 andy
3.
Being sensible for a moment, you can have too much for the gig... and if you are running big amps, you'll find that the drummer is turning green and the bass is right off the back walls, so you should find this out pretty quickly. The big amps are able to put the sound OUT there and you are going to be louder in the room than you will be closer to the rig. This might sound great payback for the drummer but you have to be very careful otherwise you are just running too loud. This is why the comparitively 'weedy' small amps are a better bet for a pub. As with all these things, you can't be oblivious to the overall effect and especially so if you have no one out front.
but this can be checked in a 2min sound check, for me there is something about a 810 that just works. andy
4.
Moved things around a bit and cleaned up some cables, so here's the current state of the madness
Such a nice board man!!
5. so i need a new home/ mini rig as i cant exactly take my 810 and 1000w orange around with me! have been looking on line and as ive fallen right back in love with ashdown stuff, my 810 is a mag, i saw a deal online where i could grab a CTM 15 and a cl212 to go underneath it! for a decent price so hopefully its turning up in the next few days! :-) from the videos on youtube really looking forward to putting my pedals thru this! however i can also see this giving me gas for a ctm 100! pics and most probably a video coming as soon as its all here! andy
6. well there in the bass with no big problem, even managed to not burn myself with the soldiering iron! need to play them thru my big rig but first little tinker they sound very nice and as monkyman said above very smooth! andy
7. I'd try all of the above, but as a thought if you have an overdrive or dirt pedal that cuts lows the octave probs wnt add a lot of lows to the sound at all, maybe grab a ls-2 and try them in parallel so there both getting a nice clean sound to work with. Andy
8. Been thinking of upgrading the pickups in my vm squier, and it was between nords and Seymour Duncan's, went with the nj5s pair in the end. As I've has sd's in most of my basses so fancied a change. Hoping i like the change! Andy
9. yeh they seem pretty crazy! on my new board ive got about 3 or 4 spaces in a loop that i use to blend stuff with my clean, so those pedal can get away with being a bit extreme sounding. andy
10.
Cheers man, I'll have a look for it. Was gonna get one anyway but hoping I can take it on work gigs where there's no amp so I don't have t go and buy something different for that haha. Cheers -Joe
i mean he uses dirt afterwards from his fractals but shapes the sound with the b7k andy
11. awesome that these guys are back! love my fb4 even tho its out of action atm! andy
12.
Has anyone used the B7K as a clean pre-amp for plug into PA gigs?
I think that's what nolly getgood was doing when premier guitar did a rig run down with him. Andy
13.
Have you tried the ZVEX Mastotron?
no i havent ;-) andy
14. always on the look out for a a cool fuzz pedal! so anyone used these on bass theres a few videos but not anything of quality, that i can find! so reaching out to fellow bcers. andy
15.
Im not really a fan of chorus myself. Rather use detune. Is that any different? when ever I think of bass chorus this guy always pops up: https://www.youtube....h?v=2PGOP9J1uAg
i have no idea why but i really dislike that guy, the new guy joe has just fits so much better! but sorry for the derail! andy
16. For ease of use struggle to beat the ditto Andy
17. dnt have the custom shop but have replaced my planet waves cables with the standard fender cables and am very happy, very tough and signal quality is very good. andy
18.
Having moved NANO a couple of years ago I only occasionally hanker after the MEGA board days (I miss my DHA VT2 the most). I have been using some Mooers and various other options but landed mainly on TC and SFX. The MXR compressor (which I love) remains the odd one out in terms of size but I really like having metering on my comp. I have just added the toneprint enabled TC Corona mini (which I haven't tried yet but have heard some great chorus toneprints).
thats alot of pedal for the size! my big ass feet would just stomp on everything lol! andy
19. Why 12ohms?? It's always been the waiting time that's put me of barefaced stuff Andy
20. When I had mine I used a amped 610hlf, seriously good sounding rig! For me those two went together really well!
21. my terror 1000 and ashdown 810 are total overkill! however the sound is amazing, as has been said no need to turn up loud just because i can. ive been in a few smaller venues where sound men have seen the rig and start to kick of before you have even plugged in! so there is that to deal with but it sounds to good to not do it!
22.
Cheers guys. These are exactly what I was looking for. They aren't quite there tone wise but the idea behind them is what I had in mind. Andy, how much did you end up selling the Harmonic Booster on for? Funny you mention that man. I was looking at the Dave Hall stuff a few days ago wondering if the 'Q mid' controls do something along the lines of what Im looking for to tweak my tone slightly.
ill be honest i cant really rem andy
23. i used to have a darkglass harmonics booster, pretty much did exactly what your saying you need, added no dirt to the signal but added a bit of a bite https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMflmQIrFe8 andy
24. my fave and what i currently have on my board is the lateral sounds "primer" has the envelope filter and can be turned into an lfo at the flick of a switch, bloody love it! http://lateralsound.com/pedals/primer/ andy
25. they are awesome! andy
