So was Skyfall. (Apart from the comedy drum fill into the chorus, obviously.)
i didnt mind skyfall, it worked as a bond theme, my fave bond theme to date still has to be alicia keys and jack white! that song was awesome! andy

Morning guys doing the normal search on the web to see what pedals are around and have always liked the Red Witch stuff, and came across there second bass specific pedal the "Zeus" as with there factotum drive pedal there an analogue octave with a mix control and then theres the silicone fuzz based on there Fuzz god 2 pedal. it sounds to me anyway seriously good! if you dnt like aggressive fuzz then this probs isnt for you! but as a big lover of the mxr submachine this is something id love to have a go on! http://www.redwitchpedals.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=54&Itemid=86 Andy

i used my old 1000 thru an obc 410, crazy loud never above 2! not the most useful eq but does have a little amount of change in it, but its strength is in the hard rock grind. awesome amp headroom for days! andy -
Great setup! How are you finding the radial di? Looks worth a shot at £70...
i used the radial on my bands latest recording sounds really good and has everything a di needs plus its tiny!! andy -
Out of interest, how similar is the MXR Bass Distortion to the fuzzrocious rat circuits? I found that pedal truly awful, but with all the positive talk about these circuits I assume MXR just got it rather wrong? It did seem to suffer from the usual MXR dirt pedal complaints i.e really poor separation between clean and distorted, thin wet signal etc.
not played the mxr, but it does sound pretty decent, just not as nice as the Rat/Cat tail, my guess is adding the blend must have changed something......know nothing about the insides of the pedals tho! the rat king really does sound good tho!

Metal Newbie looking for a Head/Cab - advice needed please
0175westwood29 replied to Naetharu's topic in Amps and Cabs
if you get the bass right it will make everything else sound huge. for me its all about the valves! and my 810......and i could play with that but with a few really nice dirt pedals i can change the feel a bit, from aggressive sounding to big a fat! give the ashdown ctm a try, but also i did used to use a markbass lm2 with effects and that sounded good, i basically look at it as my job to fill in the gaps in the dirt of the guitars and get some lows that work with the kick. the ctm100 and mag 810 works in my band, and also dnt forget your amp still needs mids :-) one of the reasons i love the sealed 810! andy -
love my boss DD-7 has alot inside, including modulation, reverse, analog but also has a very good looper. but the ehx memory boy maybe worth a look really nice delay that one! andy

i used diago power supplies for a long time very well made a work well, but as my board has been growing to a crazy side i upgraded to the gigrig system, its a bit pricey but so easy to supply any type of pedal and the load it can take is huge!!! andy
So, I received my OB1 500 today and have just returned from a quick workout with our guitarist and drummer. What a disappointment! Hated the tone. Mids way too prominent and to my ears, just all 'honk' which I couldn't eliminate. In spite of the marketing of an active EQ, we found the range from the clean section of the amp to be pretty limited. I played through with my P and J basses, with no effects at all. It does the distorted thing great when the gain is cranked but I could never see me using that in our set. Enjoyed a quick run through Ace of Spades for old time's sake The unit itself feels very sturdy and weighty and it isn't going to budge from your cab; thought the knobs though were a bit cheap feeling. For comparison, we alternated heads to contrast with the V4 and I must say, in my opnion, that has a much more rounded, fuller tone which is not harsh unlike this one. I still have the problem of not enough power with my V4, so considering possibly PF800 + cabs, TH500 or wait for reviews on the Mesa Subway. Any thoughts or advice would be really welcome.
thing is if your looking for the same tone as the ampeg head you'll be disappointed, even tho they are active eq, if it similar to the otb they dnt do a lot, they do a little. the if i rem correctly the v4 is all valve? and i hate to say it IMO nothing really sounds like valves pre amp dirt is nice but having the power tubes there add a extra something to the mix, for me a nice warm thick bottom end! i dnt know if any of these have been suggested but my favorite two amps of all time! both played with either my own or loaner 610hlf are the aguilar db750 which is an absolute beast of an amp! yes its heavy but really does sound great i went from a svt pro 8 to the db and still got a really nice peg kinda sound, joint first would be my current amp, the ashdown ctm100! it will do clean with a bit of bite, an bit of grind or crazy overdrive filth! and is loud! dnt let the 100w scare you of but if it does! they do a 300w. andy -
holy crap! the Rat King is wicked! did a quick video showing some tones! i also have found a very nice dirt sound combining my Rat King and Demon! andy
Thanks for the input. I've looked at the pdi09 before. How does a speaker SIM differ to a di then? Thanks
Di is a pretty straight and level signal, the Palmer would be taking the same kind of signal but from between head and cab, but would add an eq that would emulate the input signal going thru say a 412, For me tho if you run the pa your self or always use your gear cab included I'd try and grab a decent drum mic, I've got a couple of akg 112 they cost 90 quid brand new and sound very nice with heavy fuzz sounds. However if you are using your head but a dif cab every gig then the Palmer would be a better choice as you'll know what your getting
-
hey man, are you di'ing into the pa? i think fuzz sounds so much better through a cab with a mic in front, much less harsh and bee sounding andy
