1. I am already pestering a BCer about this very bass, but a 94 model that needs to be mine, Its a natural finish though which I prefer, although.......
2. Bah, its always been sh*te ever since a buck could be made from it! And people talk about the charts having predominantly rock acts as a era justification ie 70's child "we had zeplin and Sabbath in the charts, look at the crap now'......true but you also had Abba, the osmonds, the singing postman etc (and mud, fvcking mud)! He will then go on to state that the way the industry developed this will never happen again......except it did.....the sh*te hair rock in the 80's coupled with the woeful yuppie pop pissed of people and led to them forming bands like black flag, mudhoney, pixies, my bloody valentine, bauhause, rem, birthday party etc etc...the public (General, singles buying) caught on eventually when bands who listened to the afore mentiond bands released albums like nevermind, Pablo honey, the green album and hey ho rock did dominate the charts for a while. Remember the early to mid naughties? It was only 9 to 6 years ago when the strokes, white stripes, libertines, yeah yeah yeahs, kaisers, razorlight (good riddance) dominated the charts. Pop is now in the ascendancy but history shows us rock will get its turn again as it did many times since the 70's, a rock dominated (or credible pop) chart is not unique to the 60's and 70's, people from that era are just biased towards this attitude. I realised I'm just as bad when slagging off the naughties band's I just mentioned (white stripes excepted) as being inferior to bands like fugazi, pavement, MBV etc from my 90's childhood. The current fowlness of the chart will kickstart the next spell of rock dominance, it takes just one band.....and boom! Christ, the strokes managed it in 2001!
3. Is it still here.......it wants to live in Shetland, it...NEEDS to live in Shetland.
4. I actualy gigged one when my schecter stilletoes battery dies (dont even bother, i know *twit) and it cut through the mix very well, a little cracker! I also loved tanglewoods warwick rip off basses the warrior, I owned a warrior 2 and it was lovely!
5. Not a Daisy Rock, never a daisy rock a cv squire p or j bass or for something a bit different a tanglewood rebel 4k, small body, 24 frets, lovely neck and can usually be found for around £100, winner
6. His bass playing in Sunny Day Real Estate was top notch, I want this bass because of that album (diary), it was recorded on his original bass before the custom shops and Lakland came about and the tone is awesome. I am aware it may not sound all that different to my current P's, but g'damn!!! I love me a P bass. The Foo Fighters are shiting awfull.
7. Yeah, except its not a jv.....which means at this point fender Japan was using the fender logo for its top basses and squire for the inferior ones, prior to 84 the jv squires were just the first fender of Japan models, after this point the squires quality was reduced and the j fenders introduced, I could be wrong though.
8. Ahhhh! Don't sell this bass for less than £290, MINIMUM. if its not gone by the end o the month I will by it, solid
9. I like my P Bass, its by Fender? although it was a third of the price so its probs sh*te.
10. £80? Bargain! I would def get the big round plate MM bridge as I think these fit on the OLP without routing.
11. Erm if this isn't a JV then why can I buy an actual fender geddy lee for less than this bass, and a USA Fender P for less than this bass on this forum? Im not bitching, I love P's is there something about this bass that i am missing? I though the Jap squires prior to 84 were joint ventures.
12.
The CV series does manage to capture most of what I would look for in a bass. Having said that, the Stingray type bass is rather calling me. Probably a Sterling Sub ?
Dont do, the original SUB series is far superior and CAN be found for about £50 more, same spec and build of the american MM's just with less finish and therefor less man hours spent, so they could sell it for cheaper. In the end this stoped being cost effective and the range was discontinued and the inferior sterling came about. IMHO the matt black, plain original sub looks bad ass aswell!
13. My opinion is obvious from my poorly spelt signature, I did however play a recent 4003 and it was light years better than the mid 80's to mid 2000's monstrositys I have touched, I would still much rather have a MM or fender for half the price but that resell value is awesome with a ric. Meh.
14. Haha, this has more truth to it than I care to admit to. A good example is the "can't we just extend the solos' response to set padding, eyes will roll!
15. Pop this in the for sale section, a pre sterling sub will sell very well, these basses are American MM spec just with a lack of expensive finish, these basses are wioo much better than the sterling subs it hurts, good luck. (I think £400) would be a fair asking price.
16. I think that typifies my idealised view of a bass player, the normal one surrounded by egotists. Excepting jean Simmons, the arse.
