1.
Judging by some of the self-regarding posts on this thread 'full of s**t' might be a good description.
This topic on this particular forum, what was expected? Maybe only a comparison of known bassists, Lemmy looks f*** all like Kim Deal or Victor Wooten, who in turn looks f*** all like Lars Fredrickson, who in turn looks a sh*t ton different from Joe Lally. This topic suddenly became a bit dull, lets post pictures of ourselfs including self referencing critisisms of guitarists and drummers instead...much more fun.
2. Actualy, there is something to be said for that....I am always blatently with the band...I dont preen so im therefor not the lead singer, I dont announce my self to people with the "Oh are you here to see us or just out for the craic, my names .... Im the lead guitarist btw, love me...please love me...my dad is proud of me, he isnt ashamed......" so therefore not the lead guitarist, I am usualy free of food crumbs and tend to have an absense of spittle around my mouth so therefore not the drummer, I must be the bassist.
3. Well if what they say about an average audiences awarness of the bass player, then no one cares And also, my be frocked chum, that bass is bloody lovely!
4. I am wondering where we share "commonality", I look a bit silly in a frock, perhalps its a mannerisms thing
5. Awww man, I learned on this bass! Bargain this is where my p love started. Good luck, yun should surly sell quick.
6. I've got two bairns, I still pick the p up and have a blast every day, even if its only for a half hour I get agitated and think its looking at me, only once I've played it a bit I feel satisfied.
7. Youtube would be a good bet, a less woeful band would be another
8. There is no excuse for owning a headless bass
9.
the amazing spoonfed hybrid.
Ahhhh 4AD had some excellent releases

11. Armistead Burwell Smith IV (or zac smith as he tends to go by) is the bassist from pinback and he is superb, very unique rythmic playing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjv-Bn3daTY&feature=related
12. Notice the lack of other posts? Sing SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM
13. When your first post on a bass forum is extolling the virtues of a pish bass then yeah, he works for the company....or has never played a fender or squire or Westfield/aria/tanglewood ANY other p and or j bass. IMHO.
14. P Bass at drop D is thunder. No use to you this here statement but it has to be said.
15. match it by ear to the d string? both harmonics will ring out without a "wavering" sound, surley thats the easiest way?
16. Ahhh sound, I got a tad flummoxed by that, I do think ricks are beautiful, just awful to play and i agree that copies are lazy and that goes to sado jazz basses aswell but do you ever get the feeling that fender don't go after sadski, jaydees etc because they are confident in there own product? I feel that rick know its aesthetics that sell there basses and fear a well made copy that may sound better, I mean it wouldn't be hard! Look at the cheyene, it tried to address the rick issues and didn't sell......because it was made by rick and sounded sh*te, $2000 grand for a rick that doesn't look much like a rick and no one bought it.
17. You did when you said "as for basses I don't like, anything fender" that may lead us to feel you have a somewhat frosty opinion on old fender
18.
Rickenbacker object to people making copies of their basses? Quite right too. People should make their own original looking basses. As for basses that I don't like ..... anything Fender but also those Fender Aerodyne Jazz and Precisions or P/Js or whatever both look and sound horrible. They really should have been badged as Squiers.
Really? I think Rickenbacker have a right to protect their copyright but to pursue basses made in the 80's before they had the rights pinned down and to target private sellers with aggression and threats just makes them come accross like a right bunch of C U Next TuesdayS. I understand that Rickenbacker wan't to continue to make low quality, uncomfortable low output relics to a labour intensive tempelate, in the usa exclusivley...well done to them. Maybe instaed of targetting private sellers of pre-lawsuit basses they should address the problem inherant with all ricks....un-dressable frets, poorly laquered fret boards and unacceptable fret ware, unweildy body shape that cripples the wrist etc etc etc.
19.
Take that, eyeballs! Ha! Seriously though, you're entitled to your opinion. Also, I don't live far from the harbour if you want to challenge your perceptions
Haha, sounds like an attempted conversion attemt I may take you up on that offer...Fenders vs Gibsons north east Scotland challenge!
20. I've banged a p neck on my jazz (mim to mim) in the past, think I prefer the p neck these days.
21. I have never liked Gibson basses or guitars, especially the basses.
