  1. +1 to this. Not tried them myself but I've heard someone playing them and it did sound very string bass-like. All the flats I've tried (la Bella, TI and chrome's) reduce finger noise and are pretty deep and full. Some are maybe a bit brighter than others but there's a 'family' sound to them all - which, to me, sounds like deeper, richer flats. Tape wounds sounded even more so - more like an upright. But that could have also been the player, the guitar, the amp and eq and the general vibe (light jazz). How much part the strings actually played i don't know - but it was clearly a sound the guy was aiming for and he'd chosen nylon tapewounds to help him get it
  2. Super glue seems a bit high risk to me 😁 I think your original post said it. You've been favouring the wounded digit and that's caused excess/unusual pressure/posture on the rest. Plus, as mentioned, you've been playing flats for a bit.
  3. Thanks Frank, that's really useful. I will talk to Alex but i wanted to get some objective, real world opinions as well. It seems like either will do the job quite nicely so getting feedback from someone who's actually used both cabs is really valuable. Thanks again! Dave
  4. A bass cab from the sound of things 😁
  5. Thanks Frank, that helps. How does the sound of two One10s compare to the Midget volume wise? About the same or is the SM still louder?
  6. Thats grounds for claiming constructive dismissal, that is
  7. In a lot of cases they want to use standard sized boxes so that the route planning software can load the van more efficiently. That means you get even small items packed in a much bigger box as that will be the smallest "unit" that the software can handle. Anderson's may well be given a discount for packing everything into standard boxes. Or they might just be incredibly cautious in order to avoid too many returns. Or both....
  8. Exactly. A Small would fit me but I'd get XXL to support body positivism.... Then camp in it. In every sense of the word. Whoops.....
  9. How would you describe the tone of the One10 compared to the SM? And do a pair sound different? Or just louder?
  10. A sensible strategy. I used to be in a band with a trans guitarist who was actually pretty relaxed about stuff. It just wasn't a topic we ever discussed but equally, not one we avoided. The scariest one was a lesbian acquaintance who was probably the most intolerant person I've ever met. She hates bisexuals, transsexuals and gays. I'm not saying she was representative of all lesbians, just that there are all sorts in this world and one label is rarely sufficient to cover them all
  11. I’m clearing out a load of gear and am allowing myself one small piece of GAS. I recently bought a Mazda MX5 (actually, it’s a Fiat 124 spider but that’s still an MX5 in a fancy suit) and could do with a small cab that will fit into the boot to go to rehearsals. I have a couple of Berg CN112s but one of them is just too big to go in. As always with these things, the opening is an odd shape but it’s basically about 12” going up to 14” deep and about 15” back to front. The Barefaced One10 is an obvious contender - possibly two might fit in - and I think a Super Midget would fit. I would only use this for rehearsals - but would still need to hit a decent volume to cope with a manic drummer. I’m leaning towards the One10 but is there anything else I should consider? i use a Genz Shuttle 6.2 and, usually, a Jazz with flats.
  12. I sold all my sublimation gear a few years ago otherwise it would be cooling as we speak.....
  13. I think you may have just hit the nail of irony right on the head there. My understanding is that it refers to someone who identifies as neither one gender or the other. They use the impersonal pronouns ‘they’ and ‘their’. Generally, this is seen as being supportive of those who are ‘gender fluid’ or transgender. So unless the band’s post used the term ‘most gender neutral band’ in a sarcastic or demeaning manner, I would normally assume that they were supportive of LGBTQ++ issues.
  14. I fully agree. We are in the presence of a Master. Out of Interest, I wonder how many of these are the work of the mighty SD? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:List_of_hoaxes_on_Wikipedia
  15. What's Murtaugh's constant complaint in "Lethal Weapon"? "I'm gettin' too old for this sh!t" I think I need that on a T shirt.....
  16. I love d’addario chromes. They feel just right, have a good tension and sound just like a good flat wound should. But all of the above is a very subjective opinion....
  17. The OP later uses the feminine pronoun so I understood that to mean that it’s a she who used to be a he. This is a minefield....
  18. I assumed this was copied from Wikipedia but someone must have maliciously deleted the entry. Thank goodness it's been saved here and can be reinstated

  20. You had a narrow escape. Could have ended up with a nasty dose of more than the flu. In my youth i wandered into a porn shop in Maastricht. I walked out two minutes later in complete shock. That was the day I realised that everything i previously thought was a bit rude was in fact utterly and completely vanilla
