  1. The Jack input will be TRS as per a mic, but should accept a standard TS or mono jack plug. It will not be as loud as if you are using a mic, as you lose 6dB going unbalanced. In addition, this is NOT am instrument input so will be low impedance. That will load your passive bass, loosing even more volume. You need a preamp of some sort like the BDI21 shown above or a DI out from your amp.
  2. Sadly Mate, 58% agree.
  3. When they are hot, they are germ free unlike the Shure.
  4. Those are both good options. MiniDSP use their own DSP and ICEPower amps, Hypex use their own DSP and power amps. There is for, and against for DSP. Digital Signal Processing is very versatile and help cover up a multitude of sins. In PA amps they are used both as active crossovers and for tone shaping, giving the option to tailor the response to the intended use of the cabinet. They can tame more inexpensive drivers but you cannot make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. Also, with active crossovers you need more than one amplifier and while Class D means that there are few cost or weight implications to this, it does add complexity. Purists will argue that a better bet is a good analogue (Bill and Charlie feel free to delete the ue at the end) active crossover is superior and for a cabinet designed for s specific use, I would agree. If you are using a traditional LCR crossover. A single amp plate amp is all you need.
  5. Selling one of my Bugera Veyrons . They are both the MOSFET version. Pictures will be added later today although I have added stock images until then. This one is three years old. Bugera quote 2000 watts. That is BS. However these do put out over 700 watts into 4 ohms. They are great amps but I have 5 amps and need to get rid of one. It has minor marks on the top and bottom but is always carried in a hard case. Will post for £10.
  6. My 12 watt Antex is that old. I have had one new element about 25 years ago. I believe that the construction transfers more heat to the tip than traditional irons. I have a 12 watt, an 18 watt and a 50 watt temperature controlled soldering station. However as Phil says for most the 25 watt one is a really good all round iron. They are made in Plymouth so you can easily contact them with any queries.
  7. I would not recommend that iron.
  8. Yes. You will need an iron capable of getting up to the higher temperatures. The Draper one above is NOT ideal. The one that @stevierecommended is fine, I always use Antex irons, the 25 watt one will do almost anything.
  9. The Roto Nexus on my Aerodyne have barely changed tone in over a year. The feel is a little different but I would buy them again.
  10. As far as I remember, those ART-945A have a monster of a compression driver and coupled with a good horn it can go way below 1KHz (650Hz from memory). That is well below the "beaming point" of a 15".
  11. Sales figures do not lie. For a big brand like Ibby, the bean counters will tell them to stop sellling a model if sales are poor.
  12. Hopefully not a pedant but tbere is a reason most wall wart power supplies are centre positive. It makes them much more difficult to blow up by accident. The real question is WTF were Boss thinking making their pedals centre negative. However I will accept that the de facto standard is centre negative.
  13. Tayda do a full range of Alpha Pots https://www.taydaelectronics.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=250K+Potentiometer Sadly, the postage costs now are prohibitive.
  14. Unusual for a bass to have a tuner built in, I can'see the need for more than one. What are the machine heads like?🙃 On a serious note, they do look correct for the era of the original. However, I do agree that they probably could be improved upon.
  15. However, one of the drivers is "full range", so as long as you choose the correct one to mic up there should be no problem. No one should be under the illusion that the sound in the crowd is the sound in their head.
  16. No mention of Ebassguitar? Easier style of teaching than SBL, a very good player but a very good teacher too.
  17. Almost spot on, of course there is no reason why a low impedance pickup could not be coupled with an onboard preamp. The problem is most are designed with high impedance, high output pickups in mind. As a result they do not have enough gain for a low impedance, low output pickup. Going back to Sire, I own an M2. It uses the Marcus Miller preamp and it is very versatile. The downside is the knobs. They feel cheap and they are the same on the more expensive Sire Jazz basses. Now you have set me off looking for some new knobs…

Dammed smell check. Of course, it was a Smelleycaster copy.

Yes, there were not well loved but in one band, the lead guitarist had one, together with a cab made from an old wardrobe. He used a stray copy and got a wonderful sound from that setup.
  20. Another cable, another easy transaction. 🙂
  21. I have my iPad attached to my mic stand. With the slider is big enough, to grab quickly if I need it, but I fully understand the comfort a knob can bring.
  22. EM as in Electro Magnetic?
  23. I used one a few times before buying the Soundcraft UI16. The WiFi was truly dreadful, letting go several times during gigs. I also liked the fact that no app was required for the Soundcraft. In fairness, the UI16 was only marginally better on WiFi initially. I found that later that the many devices are set to search for the strongest WiFi signal with internet connected networks prefered. When you realise how flexible these mixers are, it makes no sense using an analogue mixer. My firts analogue mixer was a RamsaWR-S4412 and it blew my mond seeing all those controls and what the hell was an Aux bus?
