  1. I can knock you up one using Neutrik SpeaKons if you want. I will DM you.
  2. If there is one thing for sure it is that we often do not learn from our mistakes. Anyone that followed my After Eighty build will remember that I blew the onboard auxiliary voltage fuses. Well I did it again on one of the modules, and on these the aux voltage also supplies the IRS2092 class D controller IC. So it looked dead but with help from Connex I found the problem and fixed it. So next thing is to put fuses in the Aux supply lines then carry on with the build.
  3. Well like @Phil Starr I have used both the Beyma SM212 and the Faital Pro PR320 and gigged extensively with both. The SM212 has more low end in the BC212 Mk3 cab and on the face of it is a better driver BUT in many venues the bass had to be turned down and in that cabinet the Faital Pro is probably the better bet. The faital Pro does have a weight advantage as well. Of course you can turn the bass down as I said. I suspect that the Beyma would work well as a sub in a 70-80 litre cabinet but I have not modeled it.
  4. This it bullshine. Just like amp manufacturers quoting THD + N at 10%
  5. TVs are so thin that they cannot hold decent sized speakers or decent sized amplifiers. So while the number in the screen may go up to 11, the sound will only reach 5 or 6.
  6. Are they made by Ashdown like the previous Toneman series?
  7. As you know human hearing, like so many things in nature is logarithmic, so we use Log or Audio scaling on pots or in DSP to mimic a linear increase in volume. I am unclear what people mean when they say Linear in relationship to Gain or Volume controls. However I fear we have gone way off topic, my apologies to all.
  8. Is that the kappalite Phil?
  9. TC were using a form of compression to "boost" the volume. The model numbers were designed to imply a power output and digging into the blurb, it was apparent that the model number gave TCs assessment of the perceived loudness compared to the loudness of an uncompressed amp. Of course lot of manufactures imply the power output in the model number but TC were using an extra degree of sleight of hand. It may well have worked better if they had been honest with the power rating and use the "clever trickery" as a benefit. There is nothing wrong per se with TC amps but they were caught doing a VW.
  10. They are right and wrong, the 50ASX2 can reach 200watts into 4 ohms but at very high distortion. Also the power output depends on the input voltage. The ICEPower datasheet states that at 10% distortion and 230V you can get 220W and that reduces to 180W at 115V input. At 1% distortion, it outputs 170W at 230V and 150W at 120V ac input.
  11. No you are right, at least over voltage and over current protection. Some have under voltage protection too. over current will protect against shorts or sub optimal loads. One of the problems with some speakers is that they go under their quoted impedance at certain frequencies, so over current protection is vital.
  12. Do you know of a 12" that can really exceed 400W RMS at low frequencies?
  13. Despite manufacturers claims to the contrary, there is not I never said it was Samsung ..............................but it w*s
  14. The MB200 uses the ICEPower 50ASX2 BTL, 170Watts into 4 ohms and 100 watts into 8 Ohms.
  15. One of the reasons I would avoid 2 ohm operation. Its too close to a short for my liking. I also agree about protection, its like contraception. Not 100% effective. My dad got an apology from the condom manufacturer when I was born
  16. I well remember when at Panasonic that a certain company (Korean company beginning with S) claimed a huge brightness figure for their Plasma screens. How did they do it? By reducing the size of the white area measured. The power supply of plasma screens could not maintain full brightness over the whole screen so the smaller you could make the measured square, the brighter the picture. They reduced the square from 2.54 x 2.54cm to 1 x 1 cm and hence the power supply could maintain a higher brightness. Your calcs on the Bugera are about right.
  17. I have tried all of them and now use KICAD. They all have a learning curve though.
  18. It is, its a Leathergraft Softy 4" wide. However it is longer than the standard length as at one time they had an extra long option on their site. I ordered one and it was too short. They reealised that they had put the wrong length online. They do an XL 2.5" but they had to go a hand made version for me. I have asked if they could make another but they have not got back to me yet. https://leathergraft.co.uk/shop/ols/products/the-softy-guitar/v/2.5 XL Soft Blk
  19. I was tempted but I visitrd Absolute Music this morning and the had the TGI at £49. I also looked at one of my gig bags and it is only the tag of the zip that is damaged so I will put some string through it and live with it for the time being,
  20. What have rear ports and tweeter ever done to you? There is nothing intrinsically wrong with rear ports although they do need care with cabinet placement. Tweeters are neutral, It is the implementation of a tweeter that matters not tweeters per se.
  21. The mic mechanic is great. As for the Zoom B1 Four, It has behaved itself ever since.
  22. Piezos do not hiss. The amp hisses, the piezo just puts out what it is fed.
  23. i never use the straps as i am 6ft 2in and always forget when walking through doors. I only really need the bags to get from car to venue. I have a Hiscox hard case. I cut the straps from the Tribal Planet gig bag (they don't seem to be around now), It would be fine but the zip has gone. I was looking at the TGI https://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/tgi-extreme-series-electric-bass-guitar-gigbag.html at least I can go and have a look at it first as Absolute are only about five miles from me. As the Fender ones are also in stock I will check them too.
