1. The Streamliner has side ventilation so you would have to remove it from its bag before use. I'm another laptop bag user - they can be picked up for about £10 new, £6 used.
2. Paul, here's an offer for you: If you are playing somewhere between Banbury and Swindon (say Oxford, Chipping Norton etc) and I'm free, I'll bring my amps and cabs for you to play through (see signature but ignore Markbass practice amp!) PM me if interested. Also have you thought of going to the SE Bass Bash? You could probably try 20 rigs there with no obligation to buy!
3. I always call first anyway if I'm going to a specialist shop as I want to be sure the object of my GAS is in stock. There are other successful dealers that operate this way - Guitars 4 You, Andy Baxter. Pretty sure I'll be back to Bassgear!
4. Spent a few bob in there myself in recent years I've had the email but the links don't seem to work. EDIT: Can still get on the site the usual way.
5. My top tip contribution - well, Todd Johnson's:
6. Took this to trade in on another guitar, but none of those I tried would have justified spending more money. WITHDRAWN
7. He hasn't put his name down but I am currently planning to travel with andyonbass. He has just put the fretted neck back on his ACG, and has recently acquired a Handbox amp to go with his TKS cabs, so I expect they will be making an appearance!
8.
I absolutely love the sonic blue precision!

Yup, lovely collection, but all about that Sonic Blue AVRI Si
Lush ain't it?
9. TBH unless I am 100% devoted to the subject matter I tend to pick up this sort of nook cheap at The Works!

I have tried it at home with my nylon-string electro-acoustic and it worked very well. I would certainly use that setup for an acoustic gig. Haven't tried it with steel-string acoustic yet.
11. Dave bought a pedal from me, paid promptly once the deal was done, and kept me posted about the, er, post.
12.
There was an ad in JMB & Gumtree local, for a balding, talentless, one legged knob headed bass player with eff all charisma, zilch ability, sh*te gear, no pets, and a sister on the game. You know what happend next..
How long did you stay with them?
13. I have a Gen 2 Compact and had to wind the volume up higher than normal on a gig last weekend (should have taken 2 cabs!) but it still sounded phat. Could be the amp?
14. I'm a confirmed big-car driver. Here my E-class Merc swallows my PA, mini bass rig, and a drum kit, with room to spare for ordinary luggage on a recent French road trip:
15. I got Mike Rutherford, but I have no faith in the process as many of my real answers were not among the options presented.
16. Hair length/colour wouldn't be a problem to me, I'd just buy a wig. I got a reply to one of my 'dep available' ads from a band whose 3 existing members are aged 15-18. I realised I was older than the lot of them put together!
17. 'Chunk', eh? You read it here first...
18. Get this while it's hot!
19.
How was it to fit?
Pretty easy. I snipped off the pickup and grounding wires right near the pots, stripped back the insulation, and secured them in the connector using the handy little screwdriver that came in the kit. The pots and socket fitted into the scratchplate holes straight off, but the fixing nuts are larger than on the CIJ components. I got it all in on the second attempt as I forgot you have to get the pot tags facing each other to avoid fouling on the edges of the body cavity. I gigged the bass last night and it did a grand job.
20. Just finished upgrading a CIJ P-bass with a wiring loom from John. Quality work, lightning turnaround, and the little screwdriver was more useful than I thought it might be for securing the solderless connections! John hardly needs me to recommend him on page 12 of his feedback thread, but I heartily do so anyway!
21. KiOgon loom fitted - lovely smooth pots, and the low end 'swells' as you wind the tone right down.
22. I have evenings like this I where I come home from work looking forward to playing, but by the time my bass is in my lap, the bounce has gone from my bungee.
