I have for sale a very rare 1980 / 81 Vintage Valve amp and cab. The Vox V125b head gives out 125 watts of pure valve power. I have replaced the caps within the last 6 months and installed new Electro harmonx 6ca7 output valves and JJ and Mullard input valves. No rips to the Vox Diamond grill cloth on either the amp or cab. The cab has the original 15" drive unit and both are in great condition considering they are 30 years old. This pairing is VERY RARE and would suit a musician or collector.

Remove the 4 screws from the sides. Two each side. Then loosen the four screws that hold the handle to the top case and slide the whole amp away from the case. Simple. Changing the ecc83 valves for ecc81 will give around 60% of the usual gain. This should stop the amp overdriving and clean the sound. If you want to lower the gain to only 30% then use ecc82 valves.
Would you have any idea how much it would be to make this repair less visible? The repair is actually smooth to the touch by the way if that's of any significance.
Can you take hi res pictures of the repair, this will aid fellow basschatters.

I have only one now..... my Smith. It does everthing you would want from a bass, so no need for another...yet. (GAS)
How much did you get for it, given the current climate? I'm thinking of selling mine, but am unsure how much to ask.
£1.56 ... Times are hard.
Personally I won't consider any damage to the neck and this includes dings, chips and even discolouration. The body can look like it's been dragged around a gravel car park... THe market is slow and I've been looking for a while for a bass and I'm not committing. I need a bass for a short term project and I'm not going to buy one if the prices tank further when I come to sell it.
I think you are right, most people would consider buying a bass with damage to the body but would be put off by any damage / markings or chips to a neck. This includes me.
Great cabs..if you can be arsed to move them! The tweeter protection is indeed a car bulb - Eden did the same thing for years. Actually, I seem to remember that Eden built the early Goliaths for SWR..but don't know when they stopped (version I or II?). I'm glad that this one was so far away, or I would have had to buy it just to fulfill my lifelong desire to do at least one gig with a pair of them. Wouldn't go down well in the small restaurant I played in last night.
The car bulb thing makes sense, easy to get hold of and will work. I will have a look at this again at the weekend, the fuse I put in might not be powerful enough. Any idea of the correct fuse rating??????? Next on my shopping list is the 2 x 10 Goliath II ......... should make a great 6x 10 set up with the headlite. -
this is nice, cant beleive its still here, sign of the times perhaps!
Unfortunately it is a sign of the times..... Everyone is skint or looking for a bargain. I was very tempted with this bass but just can't justify £550 at the moment.
Car bulb?? I've never had need to go inside it so didn't know this. I'm shocked, and a little embarrassed, for the tweeter not to be working. I haven't used it for a while, and will admit do not have the tweeter on a high setting - too sizzly for me. It was however, fine on last use. If you continue to have problems give me a ring, and I will order you a new one.
News update......... I installed a new fuse and played with the wiring and the tweeter came on. Wow .... what a deep and hifi sound. Love the sound from this cab.............. dont like the weight, my poor back is still hurting....... no pain no gain. -
Thanks a lot to voxpop, collected the amp today. Lovely guy, pleasure doing business with you, hope you enjoy the cab.
Thanks.... Just lifted it out of the car after a 3 hour drive.... God it's heavy. Can't wait to fire it up with the headlite amp tonight....after a bit of tea. -
It might be the real deal but the seller won't take paypal. If anything goes wrong you will have no protection. We all moan about eBay, and that includes me, but paypal can be a good thing when buying goods that might be fake.
