£250 This is a superb hand-crafted thru-neck American bass, the body is maple and it has purple heart stringers and an ebony fingerboard. The workmanship is just superb throughout. It has an active/passive switch and sounds huge either way. The controls are volume and pickup blend (large) and bass/middle/treble (small) - the bass knob acts as a tone in passive mode too. What the pictures do not show is that the body is curved much like a Warwick. It's a very versatile bass and would fit in to any style of music really. I got this off Warwickhunt ages ago and I'm sure he'd testify to it's quality and condition if you asked him nicely. Comes with a gig bag and Warwick straplocks included. Collection/meet halfway preferred but will ship if required. Nothing compares for the money. Thanks Sean

I'm sure they used to be called Classic Rock UK and I seem to remember singing I Can't Explain with the singer somewhere once when they were on the same bill as my old band. I remember gassing to one of them for ages after the gig - I think it was the singer and he really does look like Daltrey. They used to do mainly stuff by The Who but also threw in some Free and Bad Company numbers. Very good entertainment and thoroughly nice chaps, I just wish I could remember more about it all. I promised the guy I would go and see them at a gig but if you try to Google the old name, "Classic Rock UK" you've got no chance of finding them so I'm glad they've sorted that out. I really like Bongos but can't see myself ever having one. What's going on with the tape on the pick ups here...

It would be worth it if Billy Sheehan turned up at the door with a takeaway curry, a few cold beers and gave you a lesson for a couple of hours!

Thinking about writing a John Entwistle Book...
I'd buy the book to get The Real Me anyway.
+1 Dreaming From The Waist (Live) from the Maximum R&B Box Set is gorgeous and shows his awesome ability to improvise. My Wife has to be in there too, Stu. Especially if it's the one from the same box set. Great news anyway can't wait to get my sticky mitts on that book! -
He's is/was the bass player with Van Halen
WAS! Kinda got kicked out in a weird bitchy way.

Does it come with a "Teach Yourself The Worst Bass Solo in the World" Book signed by Mad Mike himself?

If you look at it quickly, it says "BSlut"! I just can't wait to get my hands on one of those. Looks like it has loops and that expression pedal looks like it moves about two different axes. The build quality will be superb if it's up to the B2.1u which it just looks to be a bigger version of. The quality of the effects should be spot on too if the baby one is anything to go by. Yum yum.
i'd say a Zoom B2.1u and then you can use it to decide what other effects you like/dislike
I have one and love it. It cabn also be used as a balanced DI into the PA in case the amp goes belly up. And it's an interface for recording into the PC too.
The Beedsters spot on there! ^^^^
The J pup gives me the slap tone I need. The P just doesn't do it alone when slapping. For fingerstyle and pick stuff the J is rolled off.

A P with a J pup in it. Or even better what about this heresy? Rip (carefully remove) the neck pup out of a Lakland DJ and pop (do some routing, soldering and mounting) a P pup (Aero) in there. So just to feel included in the lame gay theme does that make me Bi???

Whats the best stuff for cleaning pots and connectors?
Sean replied to Subthumper's topic in Repairs and Technical
Servisol. Was introduced to it by a bassist at a big festival gig one year and he spent most of the day sorting out dicky pots for people. Dicky Potts? He used to teach at my school! -
Car Wash - Rose Royce version Atomic - Blondie will be the next one.

700 mile round trip, that's a lot of diesel/petrol especially at today's prices. If cash isn't an issue, then go for it. I lived in Newcastle for four years and reckon it's one of the best cities in the UK. Do some google work and get on.

Great basses. It's already above what I paid for mine!
-
I think that's what evolved into the Deluxe.

Roll on the 5-string Lakland Bob Glaub.
-
Pot seems fine - still have a quiet J pup when its pot is up full and used with the P pup pot on full - rolled back to about 3/4 the J gets a lot louder. I can live with it but not knowing why is infuriating.

For what it's worth my ATK 400 is great. 1990s mahog body, ash top, maple nck - there's a review of it in the reviews section.

This one is new to me and I acquired it from one of our more prolific BC posters. Some of you may have seen it before in a thread. It's had a replacement bridge put on and a set of DiMarzio pups put on and it sounds glorious and plays beautifully. The DMs retain the vintage sound but just make it that little bit bigger and slightly more defined. I'll sort out some better pics at the weekend and put them in the porn section.

Yes, Dave. I tried that and it was exactly the same. I'm thinking that it might be a defective pot? Also looking inside my DJ I noticed that it has 500k pots whereas the usual for single coils is 250k. I thought that putting 500k pots with s/c pups would make them very toppy and horrible - evidently not, anyone care to enlighten me on this? Thanks Sean

I have just installed a set of DiMarzio P/J pick ups in a Fender Precision and noticed that when both the P and the J volume pot is up full the volume is lower than when the P is full and the J is rolled off to about 3/4. Rolling the J off further turns the volume down as you would expect. Any ideas why this spike on volume occurs at about 3/4 up the J pot? All three pots are 250k, Cap is 0.1 uF. J pup is a stacked humbucker. When the J pup is soloed the pot seems to behave normally.
No offense taken and, no I don't - but then I'm fairly laid back and don't get anal about the sound too much. Personally I like the sound but at the end of the day I need a backup that'll get used in the band context. Thanks Mark, at the end of the day if the bass doesn't go I'll probably 'Shukerise' it - rip out the Villex mods (and part out for selling) and look for something more standard 'P'. It plays well, is of good quality and is worth the spend, but at the end of the day I would be happy with a stock MIA Jazz so that'd be easier. Cheers, Mart
At the end of the day, I'd be exhausted.

I lived in Newcastle for four years and will always have a soft spot for it. Cracking rig, Kev. Welcome to the machine, like!
