Basschat has helped me lose a few quid but have also sold some stuff so it has evened out really!
Hey there Thick Spliff, happy new year! Having had a break for a while with no gear at all, all I have got apart from my car boot sale cheapie 5 string has come from here. Not a great deal of money in the great scheme of things but all deals done at a fair price or better from a great bunch of lads! Cheers Kol
 2.
Here's a question for you - I was perfectly happy playing in my band with my Ibanez and Ashdown untill I found this site. I now have 3 basses, A load of FX and am currently trying to find the funds for another couple of basses that I want. I sincerely believe this wouldn't be the case if it wasn't for Basschat. Is basschat responsible for this? or is it normal for musicians to behave like this towards gear? (I was never like this when I played guitar) - I'm fairly sure basschat is a bad influence (in a good way of course )
Sue the bastids..........
 3. http://www.threechords.com/hammerhead/hotstepper.shtml I use Hotstepper, some good drum sounds on there especially if plugged into a good stereo or combo. You can set up and save a whole song or just loop a preset or composed beat.
 4. Can I nominate myself as the Fattest of Bastards and book a 5-6xl if they have enough material......alternatively maybe I can staple two 3xls together!!
 5. Anyone got an old full size keyboard stand they don't want. A friend needs one for home use. Can collect in Surrey or possibly West London/Chiswick/Hammersmith sort of area. Cheers Colin
 6.
Well then, let me remove my Pedant Of The Year badge and ram it up my arse where it belongs! I stand corrected
7.
Just to be a pedantic nob.. Wasn't Phil Lynott from the magical shores of The Republic of Ireland and therefore not British? (Politics and nationalism aside!). Totally agree with JJB though, how could he be missed off the list??
Phil was born in West Bromwich!!

 10.
Here's one to get you all going about weird guitarist stories. Some years back I depped on drums for a few mates who had a pub gig. I knew all the other band members and had been playing bass with the guitarist in a previous band. SH*T hot he was. Knowing that I'd be asked to do some BVs I took a head set radio mic with me as a boom stand and drumming doesn't really work for me. Bearing in mind that in the previous band, we were covering everything from Larry Carlton, Steely Dan, Focus, to Toto etc, I had no worries about the guitarist. The pub filled up and three numbers in, we got a request for Red house which I would have to sing so, turned on the mic. The guitarist asks what key? I say A as that's where I can sing it okay. He says, "I don't know it" I say "It's an easy one, just jam it" (Hence, all in together with no intro) We get to the solo and he looks at me and says "I don't know the break" I mouth (quietly) "i-m-p-r-o-v-i-s-e He says "But how does the break actually go?" I shout out through 800 watts, (forgetting about the mic) IT'S A FU**ING 12 bar you WAN*ER Pub went very quiet. We spoke about this after the gig and it turns out he can learn anything really hard, really easily, with tab or even music notation, but can't jam to a slow 12 bar in A WEIRD, maybe that's why he's a guitarist.
Sorry, I find the concept of a guitarist asking the drummer what key it's in makes me PMSL!!!
 11.
hi all in need of any ideas why our bass drum mic makes helicopter noise when we mic it up live. We have a quiet drummer who has to be put through our pa at even tiny pubs. The rest of the kit is ok but we get constant feedback off the bass drum anyone help cheers
Sounds like a case of good double bass pedal technique to me
 12. Well if this thread means actually buying a cd in a shop as opposed to downloading then it's Black Ice AC/DC for me, although I picked up Magnum-Wings of Heaven for a quid at a boot sale last weekend, probably about 50p too much!
 13. FECK!

 16.
It's been done with the 3 tenors - how about a band of bass players - The FOUGS - I'm sure several here would be well qualified (me included) -
Miller,Clarke,Wooton?? Not sure about the Fat bit though! Oh, and the talent (certainly mine) might be a bit lacking.

 21. NICE!
 22. I had a Pre-ErnieBall Stingray that was my first proper bass that I sold in a moment of skintness many years ago, I suppose the regret is that at the time I had no idea of the prestige and value it would have now. But the main regret was my Musicman 5 string that my old guitarist got for me very cheap as he was in the trade. I was playing Arias at the time and we went down to a dealer in Torquay for him to do some sort of dodgy deal on something and the 5 was sitting there looking at me. I had a play and fell in love. A couple of days later I went round the guitarists flat and there it was waiting for me. He'd done the deal without telling me and got it for a song. A few years later and after the band split my money went down the pan again and the MM got traded for a Yammy BBN5 plus cash. If I could find the MM again I'd sell a kidney to get it back! 23.
Well I'm totally overwhelmed by some of the the classy kit on here but as I'm only just starting back on the road to greatness here's my cheapo rig, not the bass I hasten to add but the rig only cost me £100. We're looking at a Jaydee Supernatural Roadie fretless(cheers Rich), a Peavey Mark3 series head(cheers Labougie) and an unknown custom built 1x15 bought VERY cheap on Ebay!(cheers Stuart) Better find me self a band then!!!
Err.........it's grown a bit!! Now which bass was in the raffle again?? Walman's G and L was sweeeet!
