I now live with my drummer (I'm his lodger, it's great!) so i think i am the top trumper of drummer lock-ins (we lock the doors every night!)

I love my BC212s. Having them horizontal makes them MUCH bassier though. You might find a better mix if you stack them vertically.

Rock crowd pleasers with more challenging basslines
Nice, don't suppose you ever wrote it down in some form or other? my improv isn't exactly stellar either
Nope, never, sorry. I probably couldn't remember it now if I tried either, it's been a couple of years since I've played it. -
Makes me feel lazy that comment, I just begin each line with the E-D-E-D motif and riff the rest! Closest I ever get to a bass solo!!
I could never improvise anything worthwhile, so I learnt it note for note from the record by ear. -
The Seeker - The Who Are You Gonna Go My Way - Lenny Kravitz Both a bit more complex than root note plodders!
The bassline under the solo in Are You Gonna Go My Way is epic, took me ages to get that right when I used to play it in the old band. -

I hate it, but it's a usually a huge crowd pleaser with an interesting bass line up the dusty end in the verses: I predict a riot by the Kaiser Chiefs. Also, Cochise by Audioslave is alright if your singer can manage it. Bassline in White Room by Cream is not challenging, but still fun to play. -
I use these, they're grrrrr-eat! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pairs-Howard-Leight-Laser-Plugs/dp/B0007XJOLG

We got asked by a bar to play 10 until 2 with a 30 minute break for £200. He was politely declined. Standard pub gigs that I do are 9 (sometimes 9:15, maybe 9:30) until 11:30 or 12. Usually with a half hour break.

I'm the same, I don't think I would ever manage to wear one out. Shame the little tortoise wears off so easily though! My .88's wear down a bit strangely. I guess I must pick at a funny angle, if you look at the plectrum with the point downwards, there's more wear on the left hand edge underneath, and on the right hand edge on the top, if that makes sense?

I'm a Dunlop Tortex .88 mm man. Partly because green is my favourite colour.

Jamerson Bass Line Visualised Graphically
allighatt0r replied to molan's topic in General Discussion
I think I would have preferred a scrolling notation score with a bouncing dot or something, this seems a bit forced and i feel like some of the intervals are stretched or squished weirdly... Don't get me wrong, it's still really cool. Mister Jamerson is the best. -
Where to start when starting a band...

I've had luck with partysounds.co.uk in the past, but I think it's declined recently -

Effects rig advice, please (DI and Line6 v pedals)
allighatt0r replied to JimBobTTD's topic in Effects
Could the Zoom B3 be another option to consider? It's got a DI built in, -

I'm well chuffed with this. My first time building a bass from scratch! It arrived promptly in the post, well packaged in airtight bags (to prevent moisture entering the components on the plane journey over I suppose?) It even came with a free stand! Took me all of 45 minutes to assemble, I thought that was pretty impressive! Although, I'm not too keen on the colour of the sunburst or the tortoiseshell. Can't seem to get a tune out of the thing either... Anyway, these things are pointless without pics! here: http://i.imgur.com/SjlzHUA.jpg http://i.imgur.com/H1LgmBX.jpg

I've always wondered that too. It it another case of "maple fretboard sounds brighter than rosewood" or does a brass nut sound different to a bone nut or a graphite nut? Or is it about something other than sound?
They aren't short enough for me... the short one is still too long, I have five of them sitting around not doing anything if anyone wants one? I bought a load for fender style basses that I no longer own. I use comfort ones now.
What colour are the ones you have, and how much do you want for one?
