Tabs or music I don't mind !
-
Hey Guys Just got myself a fretless which is the best thing I've heard so far. As for the playing in tune, thats another story. I've been listening to a lot of Pino's work with Paul Young and wanted to know has anyone got any dots to the tunes or something thats roughly close. I don't mind working it out but I really want to play ! Cheers Guys Also if you could hit me up with other great fretless players that would be wicked !

Hey Guys,, I might have asked this before, if so please ignore. What my question/aim is that I would like to get more out of my ears. In other words when I work things out by ear I don't want to use too much 'guess work' and actually rely on hearing the different intervals and so on. I've had a look online and there are different methods but 2 stand out 1 - listen to the intervals again and again and again and again ..... 2 - Assign a song which has that specific interval and try singing it so it stays? in your memory Out of these 2 which one would be most beneficial ? Listening to the intervals again and again does sound quite daunting but if you guys have tried it and have much better interval recognition then I actually don't mind putting in the hours of practice. ThanksGuys ! Please share anything that would be useful

Also not being picky but can you change it to universal access instead of just desktop access? I normally have my iPad playing when practicing. -

Man that sounds great, both of them ! Hope when I start gigging to join a funk/jazz band of that caliber. Great feel.

is it necessary to carry on reading if you completely mess up a bar. I like to get everything perfect, so you I would remember a certain pattern or phrase. I've seen that many people say carry on just to replicate a reading scenario, 'the band doesn't wait'.

It sounds so slick ! I've got it in the funk transcriptions but always ignored it , silly me !

I didn't really know what to call it so I just used slap. Bt yeah, it fills up the texture when your playing a groove like that. Any ideas on how to accomplish or start doing that sort of stuff ?

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iwwZuakWECM Something like this before he goes crazy on flash slap !

Let me find one

Hi guys Another question on a slap master I mostly focusing on his more Slower grooves, e.g. The little excerpts from the DVD My question is how does he play the melody but also keep that nice percussive Rhytmn going on at the same time. I've tried that with muted slap and pop but I just can't get it to sound anywhere slick as he does it. I've seen sometimes he would do like a down or upstroke but you would pick that up just because of the attack. But I'm more focused on those little percussive techniques he does when playing a slow melody/groove. Any ideas ?

When I had mine it had a massive shielding problem. Everytime I rolled it onto the bridge pickup, Bang! Noise comes through the amp like crazy. Did anyone else have this problem or am I the only one?
-
You think that's a hard decision ! I have cash for an amp or a bass. I really need an amp but would love a fretless. What on earth should I DO LOL
-
I guess that's it really.

Hey guiys thanks for all that ! Thing is i know where the notes are on bass and stave. Thing is my mind knows its an Ab but my hands dont react quick enough . how on earth do i quicken that reaction ?

hey guys I've now really got into my jazz and all that stuff. What im obviously lacking is the skill to sight read notes. Looking at chord charts is fine but i really want to improve my reading drastically. I know this will take ALOT of practice but im prepared to put it in. What is the best way, or in your opinion on getting better at sight reading. I might just add, sight reading in different keys ? Is it just racking up all the dots you have and going through them or is there some secret no ones telling me

Hey guys We all love Marcus for what he's currently doing as the 'Mainz' man in his band but there is a lot of more Marcus stuff that I haven't really been introduced to. His session work was at the same level as his performance now, as they tell me. What I really have put this post up for is that, does anyone have certain albums or recommendations for albums to listen to that feature Marcus playing as a sideman and not as a main performer ? I've had a look around and found maybe 4 or 5 recordings with different artists but I'm sure there's more than that ! Anything to listen to would be greatly appreiciated ! Cheers
