1. ah i know what you mean but the Satanic references and beliefs are all part of black metal, I wanted to call our band Corpus Diaboli. Opeth are a better band but i really like both at the moment, Valeria Dragova in the video for Leviathan does help
2. I can never understand poor service in shops, I work in a shop part time and i find being friendly helps sales but makes me feel better, I really like having a day were I can banter away with a few customers about stock giving them advice and trying to get them the best deals possible. It is a camping shop i work in rather than a guitar shop but it is a similar scenario with stores being killed by the interenet and alot of staff members in other stores i frequent seemingly not giving a sh*t
3. I got three Opeth albums i believe, still loving Akercocke and their well dressed satanism
4. this thread looks interesting as I avoid sleep. I am only really getting into metal relatively recently(last year or two) and loving it. trying to steadily devour my way through as many bands and genres as possible so a thread like this is good for names to google. I am currently enjoying Cannibal Corpse and Necrophagist for insane bassing and technicality and beginning to checkout Meshuggah. It isnt just the uber-technical I am loving, saw Gallhammer this week and there stripped back droning punkish crust metal or what ever you want to label it was mesmerisingly fantastic. I am also loving Anaal Nathrakh and cant wait to see them in May. Having just joined a Black Metal influenced band I am swoting that genre like there is no tomorrow in the dark world of ice and evil but the bass is generally roots and guitar mimicry. But theres always the few acceptions to the rule such as Akercocke. Anyone want to throw compulsory extreme metal listening at me it is always appreciated (more extreme the better)
5.
I'm going for black w/ matching headstock with tort guard.
thats will be so sexy i may drool at the thought, and i am not hugely into retro 4 strings at the mo
6. looks a very interesting week if i ever had the pennies for it, how far in advance did you book it outta interest
7. I like mine (6er) as said very very very good for the money (thomann have them so cheap) there are a few slight niggles but nothing serious for the money, electronics will want upgrading but other than that go for it. I also have one of the old non through neck active 4 strings (not american made unfortunately) and i love it, light weight and very easy to play.
8. the pickups are emg 40 size (yes i know these are 5 string but its a skinny bass) Wizard can make you custom passive replacements but it will be £100 a pop. I am looking to upgrade the same bass, my plan is either wizard pups or EMG 40P and 40DC with a Jretro or ACG pre
9. the peavey gring 6er is a thinish neck 6er so would make a good wide neck 5
10. great wee amp, bomb proof, someone grab this (I already have one )
11. i wouldnt say it felt cheap (one i played) plus they are actually £500 in GuitarGuitar so aint he cheap either. cant say i was blown away by pup and eq though
12. i really like my grind 6er, uber cheap on thomann. gonna whack some EMGs in there some point
13. ! I'll away and sell every organ i can cope without, that is so so so sexy! wish i could even nearly afford that.
14. I played on of these in guitar guitar, really nice looker but i didnt get on with the dimensions and i didnt like the amp i was playing it through. but as i say very sexy bass esp for the money
15. the few times i played an 8 string it amused me more finding which non 8 string songs sounded good on it, I would guess something like Portrait of Tracey would sound ultra schmexy on an 8
16. cool cool, I am new to GP so thats useful thanks
17. I am using it on guitar pro but for some reason never thought to change the tunning, I got tab for fermented offal discharge, may need to adjust the tempo till i get a 'little' better. where did you get the tab for only ash remains? thats what I am listening to now
18. having had a look (as I am looking for 6string stuff too) Necrophagist seems to be tuned down a step which is a pain in the arse (I am already playing around in standard and down 1/2)
19.
If you fancy a challenge, try Necrophagist!
challenge now that is a bloody understatement!
20.
Depends on ur religion
and how quick they get you to hospital after the overdose
21. I had trouble with my last setup (old trace AH150 and Peavey BW) the trouble turned out to be dodgey soldering on the cabinet input causing intermitent distorting
