  1. Hello all, My Musima laminate GDR era double bass for sale to fund a new DB. Not sure on age - probably from the 1970s? Not sure if fingerboard is ebony, but it certainly does not leave black marks on the fingers like cheaper died boards - not sure what it is It has had a significant amount of work from luthier Laurence Dixon - fingerboard planed, sticky neck varnish removed, new pin, new bridge and an overall health check. It has had a neck break in it's life but haven't we all ….nonetheless it has a resonant thump that works very well indeed. A perfect jazz beater bass in other words. I'm based near Ashford, Kent. Bass has no case. Cheers! Nick
  2. Thanks all. Wayne has truly helped a fellow bassist out in his hour of need. Best forum in the world...Cheers, Nick
  3. Hello all My bass terror went pffft in rehearsal last night and as luck would have it I'm in the studio sat, sun and mon. Trouble is I need the exact same amp as we're completing an album that has already been recorded on an OBT 500 to date. I'm seeing if I can get a repair this morning. If I can't, would anyone be interested in lending me their OBT500 for the bank holiday weekend? It would be used in a clean studio at moderate volumes. I could lend you a fender American reissue 75 jazz In exchange or give you some dosh? Location wise I'm in kent and recording in North London. Of course would pick up. Failing that, anyone know anywhere in the London area that rents bass terrors? Fx don't have them. Cheers, Nick
  4. Great basses indeed! And yes, I will regret it!
  5. Thanks - this is a really nice bass. Effortless playability unlike a lot of jazzes I've owned in the past! It's the kind of bass you forget you're wearing as it's so light and well balanced. No shoulder tug etc
  6. After much trial and error (drumroll) DR Sunbeams...

  8. Sunday breakfast browsing bump for this great jazz. The trouble with jazz basses is that a lot of them suck. Dead, heavy, neck dive etc etc. This is a nice one for a change!
  9. Hi Jumanji. I'm in Kent. Once you hit the M25, I'm an hour and a quarter away. 3 hours overall from yours to mine according to the AA. A mere jaunt Cheers! Nick
  10. I've been ambivalent about modern (90s and onwards) Stingrays even though I played them out live and recorded with them for ages. The Stingray classics though are incredible - 2 band preamp all the way. So I would recommend checking out the stingray classic 5 and trying to find a light one. My Ray classic is under 9lbs. It sound incredible…makes other basses sounds like toys...
  11. Very cool bass but need to move it on. American Vintage 1975 reissue jazz bass. You know the score - fantastic Fender jazz basses ...and this is a good one. I would prefer local meet up and deal, not posting. specs - very light at 8.5 lbs - perfect balance - G&G case - ash body with natural gloss - maple neck and fretboard with black blocks - stock pups which sound great - badass installed - 70s pup arrangement - microtilt system which works fantastically. This bass has extremely low action and 7.25 inch fretboard radius. It's amazing... Alternatively, if you want to save 100 quid on this great bass. I keep the Badass and its yours for 850. Stock bridge will be reinstalled.
  12. I've said it before and will say it again - probably the best production bass in the world at the minute...

  16. When I see a spoiler I think of the bass sound that underpinned one of the greatest bands that ever trod the boards, The Revolution. Brownmark is a serious player…murky sound but you get the picture. What a band! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjAu3fVaPHQ
  17. Ah 'We Supply"…that's funky right there...
