From NAMM 2013 - Ladeez 'n' Gemmun - the all-new Gibson N-225! RRP $2332. Lovely, innit Henry Juskiewicz cutting his own cock off with a rusty soup can. Again.
I think it's good. I think a lot of gibson guitars aren't that great to look at. This one is something fresh and eye catching, you have to remember that they are trying to appeal to new customers, and while lots of people love the old LP and SG's, some people just want something more modern. It has more of the appeal that a strat would have with it's soft rounded contours and flowing shape. The bottom cut-away looks great, looks like it would maintain that SG access to the very last fret.
Sorry to go off-topic - I have only used garage band to do ringtones for my phone and nothing more. if it's a cut down version of Logic, is it possible to use it as a notation program? i.e. for manual input of transcriptions? or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks
I've avoided this one because i just don't know. You should have a search around Garageband, and if you can't find anything use the search bar on the help button along the top of the screen while in Garageband.

I would just like to apologise to Toomey7 at this point... we aren't all grown men that act like kids... well, yes we are, but some folks on here are women too.
Oh, that's OK. I wasn't being serious anyway, as I'm living in the basement myself. You'd have to take the first floor.
Oh, Bert
Come over and hide in my basement. He'll never find you there.
I'll take my chances going on the run, but thanks all the same
Bad science! You forgot Leen. Read up on epistomology and metabletics! That and source material. best, bert
Oh sh*t, i did forget about Leen... Now i'm going to die... because he will kill me.

Welcome aboard the good ship 'Chat! It seems that Basstractor, Discreet and I have become the self appointed welcome committee here, so you should feel touched (don't read anything into that). My current amps are an ashdown ABM 400 rack head (sounds great) and an SWR Silverado 4x8 combo (also sounds great). They both would hold their own in a mid sized venue, and have a DI out, so they can be DI'd straight into the PA, but i mainly just use them for practice and recording. Have fun

I did offer my services to a local lad who i am sure you will all hear of soon enough. He was in a band, then went solo a few months ago (he's only about 16) and has already played in one of those "Oh look at how good the youngsters are these days" arts events to show to local councillors, recorded an EP, got hundreds of likes on Facebook (while my page has stagnated around the 30 likes mark for weeks ). He has now promoted his page with a video and all that, which has thousands of views so far. Don't get me wrong, he really can sing, there is no doubt, but i just don't understand how he has propelled himself so fast into the limelight. There's still hope, i think one of my mates is related to him, so if he asks him for a bassist, hopefully he will mention me I would love to start doing gigs (providing i am well enough) and if that happens it could lead to session work. But i'm not holding my breath. -
Count yourself lucky! He's kind of a big deal around here.
Why, thank you, Bert.
Last year, my guitarist/singer/mate sodded me off to go and join 'The Voice'. He's the one that looked like Gandalf, played guitar, and was mentored by Tom Jones. He's got nothing from it, screwed over his friends, and the media coverage hasn't helped him one bit. I'm lucky.
Kris! Hello! Milton here I remember you telling me about this through youtube mail, i was watching your old band videos with Matt (his name was Matt, wasn't it?) the other night. You guys were good. -
ok so i've just come in from a covers gig which was pretty un eventful really good audience, nice tight band, etc.. however as i was playing on stage i noticed a group of young guys sat down beside the stage making a w**ker sign at the band (not sure if it was me or the band in general) at first i was a bit bemused has anyone encountered this kind of behaviour before? i mean fair enough i'm putting myself up on stage to be judged and they're entitled to their opinion of me or the band but seriously? in the end my solution was to drop in some tasty fills, enjoy myself more than before and casually remind them as i left the stage they by drinking they were paying my wages just wanted peoples thoughts really?
I'm sure Dr.Dave will be along at some point to tell us what he does with people who make w***er signs while he plays

More importantly, who ran into the pub, arms flailing madly shouting such clichés as "I show 'em, I'LL SHOW YOU ALL!"? Anybody who admits to this, you instantly have my respect and contempt. -
how long should I wait before I start asking for moderator help?

Why would you make an offer based on what the seller had paid? just because you want the bargain he had? Sorry, nope. I know people who have made their living spotting a deal and jumping at it and selling it at full market price (maybe after a bit of work). Most car dealers do it, are you going to walk on to a forecourt and say "Yeah, i saw this one on gumtree last week for £500, so i'll offer you £500, instead of the £1000 you want". My response would be "Well why didn't you buy it then?". The seller is perfectly within his right to stick whatever price they want on it. If it is too high, it likely won't sell, if it is too low, somebody will buy it in a heartbeat, and you will probably see it back on the market in a few days. The buyer is also in their rights to make an offer, but the seller doesn't have to accept. C'mon guys, this is just getting silly. Does the OP have his stuff yet? -
That's because you live on the Isle of Wight - it's still 1974 there.
It's still 1858 where i live, and i have a... wait, no i don't.

Basschat Competition Bass (13 Guitar Co.) - CONCLUSION!
MiltyG565 replied to Skol303's topic in Build Diaries
^ Thanks Milty! I'm going to do some homework on this over the weekend. Interesting to hear your thoughts on the difference between single coil and humbuckers. I'm going to investigate the types used by bass players I like (i.e. whose tone I like) and scribble some notes. I'm very aware that the p'ups are going to have a BIG impact on the sound, so it's not something I'm going to rush into. Besides, I'm really enjoying learning about all this stuff Thanks again for the input mate.
No trouble, i'm really interested in lutherie, so i'm enjoying this thread. Can't wait to see some early build pics! -
It may well be cool, but it's not easy. The grammar is complex.
Yeah, but i want to learn it, not digest it.
Looked at more closely i changed my mind. From now on I'm from Switzerland.
The americans seem to have a very skewed view of Germans. I just saw in How I Met Your mutter, a "German" man getting wound up at the german words the american used and said they were "Annoyingly inconsistent"... hmm... Anyhow, i'm just being the fool, Germany is one of the few countries in the world i want to visit, possibly even live in. I also want to learn German, It's a cool language, and english has a lot of words derived from Germanic, so i would also understand english better for learning it!
Over the years I have found that a lot of musicians are not very good verbal communicators . I have worked with many ( too many , in fact ) lead guitarists who were monosyllabic introverts , keyboard players who were men of few words and drummers who were just plain thick . I have a theory that an inability to communicate with language is a big part of why some people turn to music as a way to express themselves . Unfortunately , even the greatest guitar solos cannot substitute for a concrete arrangement to be in a certain place at a certain time to do a certain thing , and a good communicator with less musical ability can end up being preferable to an awkward virtuoso .
Yes, i really struggle to say what i mean. Might no appear that way, but in normal conversation, i trip myself up so much it's stupid, and i can't believe that somebody hasn't told me to stop being a bloody eejit and talk like a regular person yet. And i can pick up a guitar or bass and play something which expresses how i feel. A good example of this is John Frusciante. The man can hardly string a couple of words together anymore, but he can easily let you hear what he means, or sing it.
that's not quite the same thing, it's not that he's too busy its that he can't have his phone with him, if people can't be bothered, they more often than not say they're too busy, if you really want to do something you'll make the time, in my experience anyway
I don't reply to most texts when i'm at work, and we are allowed our phones on the floor. I might reply at lunchtime if i find a minute between drinking and eating. If i haven't replied by then, i would as soon as i finished.
-
when people use the excuse that they're too busy, whether it's answering texts or practising a new song, what they really mean is they'd rather be doing something else
Not true. My mate who was the guitarist in the band had to leave his phone in the safe in the office of his work, because he worked with lathes and mills, it was too much of a risk using it on the shop floor. He frequently forgot to take his phone out of the safe after work and i would often get a text the next morning at about half 7 apologising and then a response to whatever i had sent.
