1. My band think we're a democracy. What no one has realised is I make small suggestions and they run away and do what I want them too thinking it's their own idea. We generally have an equal creative input and we all operate to our strengths. I'm the ideas man The singer is the salesman The guitarist is always on a quest to realise my ideas and bring perfection to everything. The drummer is soon to be replaced!
2. My setup would do what you want it to. I run an Octamizer in the high frequency loop of a SFX X&M pedal. My crossover frequency is set so that it noticeably applies the octave to anything over the 6th fret on the A string but it's a variable setting. HTH
3.
"Morning campers, is there any warm water left?"
I've just had a cup of coffee so give it half an hour and there'll be more.
4. Shell is winning with the number of camping related puns. The other two are level pegging
5. Having spent all last weekend in the studio for the first time I can offer the one extra piece of advice that no one else has. I someone is struggling to really nail something and getting stressed about it; get them to go for a walk in the fresh air. Five minutes "wasted" could save half an hour of constantly re - taking the same part.
6. Reverse GAS, also known as middle aged SAG. The only cure is to use the money raised to buy a totally impractical sports car. HTH
7.
Basschat foam fingers?
Again WE NEED A LIKE BUTTON! Maybe all Basschat members should wear a pink carnation and carry a copy of the Financial Times.
8. I'll be there in a Bass chat hat. Mental note, must buy a bass chat hat.
9. Congratulations. It's nice have twins. Mine are identical
10. With the work I have planned they won't be identical. And yes. We have a definitive answer to what bass is good for metal. It's a cheap as chips yamaha with a babicz bridge!
11.
Looks like Yamaha are discontinuing all the RBX basses, seems odd and a shame as for me, I've always held them up as the best value starter basses out there. Hope they're just updating the line...
That's why I'm buying them all!
12. Ever since the day I accidentally bought (I decided that the person who had already bid wasn't having it for starting price and that's all they'd put on as their highest bid) my first 270J I've never looked back. The BBOT bridge struck me as a bit flimsy so replaced that with a babicz that I picked up from the market place on here and the tone really came to life. It didn't have the sustain increase that people tout as being a reason for fitting a high mass bridge, but it did allow the mid range to really sing. The new one is in line for some upgrades and customisation over the next few months. Plans are as follows: Re-wiring - I don't really use the pots for infinite variation so selector switches will be used instead. New Bridge - babicz - black New tuners - hipshot ultra lite - black New strap buttons - Jim Dunlop straplocks Custom pyrography artwork and clear lacquer refinish on the body Probably finished off with a set of DR Black Beauties. After the work it will look as good as it sounds for metal!
13. Got her. http://s208.photobucket.com/user/Thefishy1/library/Mobile%20Uploads
14. Planning on posting pics of the twins tomorrow.
15. I've made no secret that my go to, main, bass is a Yamaha RBX270J. It's got a hipshot extender and a babicz bridge but apart from that it's as standard as the day it left the factory wearing it's Yellow Natural Satin finish. Tomorrow I will be collecting my new bass. I was browsing eBay and have found myself purchasing a Yellow Natural Satin Yamaha RBX270J
16. Started playing guitar age 16. Just turned 17, chatting to a mate in the pub about his band. He didn't need another guitar but did need a bass player. Gave it a go and never looked back. 19 years and lots of life events have passed but I'm still playing my bass and gigging as often as I can.
17. Oh the humanity! I bought a X&M pedal from SFX so I could have my octave pedal on the higher frequency notes. If this had been out last year I could have got one of these, a second head and even more cabs to accomplish the same thing.
18. Another convert here. I play in a metal band with an insanely loud drummer. For rehearsals a take a berg hd112. At gigs I use 2 berg hd112.

20. It might be worthwhile pm-ing Bremen. I sold him a rack compressor a couple of years ago that I genuinely thought was causing a earth loop in my rig. It turns out it was faulty. He messaged me to say it was faulty and then, before I'd even had chance to read the first message, messaged me again to say that he'd located the faulty component and replaced it.
21. Things to do in the UK: Have conversations/moan about the weather. Join a queue, especially if you don't know what it's a queue for. If you consistently do these two things then no one will know you're not from round these parts.
22.
Why?
The new Christmas tradition that was alluded to many pages ago.
23. I find myself wondering if it's any good for....... ....metal?
24. Would be nice to see it locked until December 26th.
